At first glance, this restaurant looks nice - great location right on the water, outside seating...you get the picture. DO NOT BE FOOLED. We were in town on business, and the restaurant we planned on was not open that evening, so we ended up at Pieces of Eight (which we later renamed Pieces of ""something else""). I'm not sure what our first clue was that our evening was going to take a downward spiral. Maybe that our server had no clue how to explain anything on the menu, or that they didn't actually have any of the items featured on the menu (no lobster, no tuna...hmmm). Well we went ahead and ordered a crab cake appetizer - bad choice. I think they were still frozen in the middle, and resembled a roll of bread more than a crab cake. Ok, lets move to salads. My ""caesar"" had some kind of milky looking dressing on it that had no apparent taste at all. At least the lettuce was crisp! Now on to entrees. Only one person at our table of six had any luck, and he ordered a steak (and even that came out well done when he ordered it medium). The Soft Shell Crab was awful - chewy, smelled super bad, and not fried all the way through. I used to live in Maryland - I know what crab should taste like. The scallops were also a bust - just the smell wafting off of them made us all want to run for the hills. The manager finally came over to apologize and offered free dessert. Great - can't go wrong with dessert right? WRONG AGAIN! Three of the items on the dessert tray - carrot cake, chocolate cake, and cheesecake - all looked like they came from a box in the freezer section. The fourth - a strawberry ""parfait""- was nothing more than strawberries and Reddi-Whip. Desperate for sustenance, we tried the carrot, cheesecake, and ""parfait"". Lets just say we would have been better off hitting a convenience store for a box of Little Debbies.
Pros: location
Cons: where to start?
