""Watch your bill"" is right! 6/26/2010

I was told that the vet suspected a tumor on the spine, but he wasn't sure. He recommended x-rays and a blood work up. I told him to do the x-ray first, then do the blood work if he was still unsure. That saved me a bunch of money, I'm sure. I only wish I had told him to take ONE x-ray, and then take another only if the first was inconclusive. The bill to examine my cat ($90), take two x-rays ($94 per x-ray) and inject her to put her to sleep ($70!!) came to $348. Outrageous. The staff were all kind, but the bill was cruel! The shot to put her to sleep was administered by an assistant and could not have cost the vet more than $10. Very unhappy with their greed during my time of need. Pros: Open after hours. Pleasant staff. Cons: Outrageous prices! more

Compassion in the middle of the nite 3/31/2010

We went in at midnight with a very sick little Dauchound that was 15 years old. She ended up not making it through the treatment and died. The staff where very compassionate explaining all the options. We would recommend this emergency clinic to anyone. Was a blessing to have a place to go in the middle of the night for good care. The cost we felt was reasonable. more

Wonderful Resource for Pet Owners 1/31/2010

I had a wonderful experience at PEC after my dog was injured on a weekend. I felt they were compassionate and took the time to both listen to me and explain the treatment provided. The cost of treatment was very reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to take my dog there again. We are very lucky to have this resource in Spokane. more

Pet Emergency Clinic provides unempathetic care. 12/8/2009

I brought my dog in last night after he started having seizures. Yes, I will admit that I am emotional but like other reviewers, I too had the same unempathetic experience. The concept for the business is a great one but that is what this clinic is, a business. Maybe it was just me but I will not be returning if I have anything to do about it. I will advise all of my friends the same. If you have another option, choose your other option. more

watch your bill 11/30/2009

when i left my dog there to be treated for parvo for a second time i was given an estimate of 368.00 and signed a notice stating that if my bill exceeded the estimate by more then 20% i would be notified. so imagine my surprise when i went to get my dog my bill was $808.00!! when asked about the statement i signed i was told that sometimes things get "" crazy"" and they just forgot to call. so if you use this place be sure to ask about your bill often . Pros: gave my dog very good care. Cons: bill more then double what they said more

Pet Emergency Clinic is garbage 8/19/2009

This buisness sucks. I call at 10:30 at nite to get info on what it would take to bring my cat in. She was attatcked by my neighbors pitbull. The lady on the phone was not empathetic what so ever to my situation, and did not seem to have any feeling towards the dying cat what so ever. I asked some question as to how you would no if a cat has internal bleeding or how long it would take before she died. All the lady on the phone could say is "it depends". She was not responsive or did not ask any questionions. She also told me that they would not perform any treatment on my cat without a total payment. The 80 dollars is to just get her in the door. For any exrays or any thing else would require full payment befor they could be done. If you work in a medical field of any kind you should have some sort of compassion, and even if nothing can be done, you could at least act as if you were sorry. So I guess I have to hope that my cat makes it through the night, be cause this terrible buisnes more

Pet Emergency Clinic is Great 6/29/2009

My Mom's cat was hit by a motorcycle. We took him in to the emergency clinic. Everyone was very nice. They brought my Mom an estimate for the bill right away and they gave her updates on it every time they thought something else might need to be done. It was expensive but it is also after hours care. They took great care of Ren. The emergency clinic is great for things like this. If you want something cheaper than you just have to make it through the night or weekend until you can get to your regular vet. more

Compassionate care 5/21/2009

I took my best buddy, Sebastian, a Welsh cardigan corgi into the emergency clinic on a Saturday night. He had been panting a lot and vomiting. It turned out he was a very sick dog. Dr. Duenwald was extremely compassionate and competent in his care of my Sebastian. After 24 hours of intravenous fluids and antibiotics he was well on his way to recovery. Dr. Duenwald was careful to explain what he felt the problem might be and didn't make me feel foolish for being so upset, he showed a lot of heart and understanding. The front staff was very polite and good at what they were doing. When I went in to pick up Sebastian they were very busy but always polite to the customers. I would go back there in a heartbeat if anything was ever wrong with any of my animals. more

Reasonable 5/7/2009

I was on vacation and took my dog there after she ate rat poison. I thought they were very nice including the office staff and the cost was very reasonable compared to a VCA hospital in Western WA. I was very pleased and would go again if ever needed. more

Its Unfair 4/19/2009

My Husband and I just adopted 2 kitty's from Spokanimal shelter and they both got spayed. Well one of them was running a high fever and she had sores in her mouth. I called to make sure that we can go in I explained that we could not pay for it bc my husband hasn't got paid yet they said THEY COULD NOT SEE HER BC OF THE $80 CHARGE as a walk in I was so shocked. I told them that we can pay when we can but they said they would not be able to see her, the women on the phone said that I should call a friend or family member so they can take a Credit Card over the phone then they will see her. I could not belive that they are more worried about MONEY then helping our Animals Something has to change bc what if she dies and they could do something but they WOULDNT bc they didn't get PAID we went to another Vet place in the Valley they were so great they even seen my kitty and said i could do monthly payments. more

They will turn you away if you have a rabbit that needs care 3/8/2009

This clinic will not help you at all if you have a rabbit that needs emergency care. They will say that the doctors there are allergic to rabbits! First of all I don't even believe this, or maybe the vets there have never heard of Benadryl? \r The front desk staff is uncaring and unsympathetic, and will not even help by suggesting you go to Post Falls Emergency which is your only hope of help when it's the middle of the night and your rabbit is sick or injured. Don't even bother going here when time is so important in trying to save the life of your pet. Not a helpful place, awful customer service, and will not even try to help you if you have a pet that is not a dog or a cat. more

A life saver but the front desk staff is cold 7/25/2008

I have been there several times and even though they are a life saver for my pets I always feel treated like an inconvenience. Which is very irritating considering #1 I and my pet are in distress, and #2 the amount of money I'm getting ready to lay down. The front desk staff is curt and very unapproachable, usually involved in their own conversations. All ears when its time to take your money though. The doctors are very nice. I don;t mind the $80 charge but it is shame we only have one option. more

No worries.... 7/6/2008

This is an emergency room for pets. It is not a standard vet office. They do an excellent job as an emergency, last resort place to take your animal for humane, competent, emergency services during the off hours that the regional vets are closed, 7 days a week. They are invaluable to myself and the community at large. Do not hesitate to use them if you find your pet in need of immediate emergency care . They are an excellent service to have available in Spokane. Do not take them for granted, as the reviewer below seems to. They are great at what they do. It is owned by a collective of over 40 vets in the area. Thank you, PEC. more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE - IT IS A SCAM/HIGH PRESSURE SALES CLINIC 4/29/2008

I took my 1-year-old lab puppy there last week because I was afraid she had eaten something toxic like antifreeze. She was having tremors and had a high fever. This clinic charged me $80 just to walk through the door, took her temperature, but did not examine her fully physically. They pushed my husband and I out into the waiting room and then the doctor would come out now and then saying he didn't know what was wrong with her, but he could try a variety of treatments. He did not say what those treatments would be nor did he give a quote of how much they would cost. At the end of her visit, he still did not know what was wrong with her (I suspect now a urinary tract infection and she had shaking chills because of fever), did not check her urine, but did give her medicine to make her throw up. He evidently did an x-ray of her abdomen before making her throw up and it ended up just being kibble. When the bill came, it was over $300. They had charged me $130 for the x-ray (humans more

Great doctors and staff 3/31/2008

My 5 lb. chihuahua ate half of a chocolate bunny and her stomach was distended. This happened late on a Saturday night/ early Sunday morning, so her regular vet was not available. She would not stop throwing up and became extremely dehydrated very quickly. When I dropped her off, I was not confident that I would ever see her again because she was in such terrible shape. The doctors and staff, however, worked very hard and saved her. If this clinic were not open, and the caliber of care was anything but superb, my buddy would not be alive right now. I am truly thankful for all they have done, and would highly recommend all of the staff and doctors involved in my case to friends and family. more

Caring Vetrinarian 2/5/2007

On our second visit to the pet emergency clinic our second dog came down with Parvo and Dr. Duenwald was working. We requested the same work we had on our other dog and took him home however because our puppy was a smaller breed the parvo dehydrated him quicker and he was soon lethargic. My husband and I tried to prepare ourselves to put him down and went once more to the emergency clinic where we saw Dr. Duenwald again. Not only did he refuse to put our dog down but he also said he could help us affordable and put our puppy on an i.v. for 24 hours. He was very caring and we bought him a card to thank him. I was so moved by his generousity that I was crying and hugging him. I completley put our dogs survival up to him and HIGHLY HIGHLY recomend Dr. Duenwald. more

the best they could do 7/8/2006

i rushed my 14 month old pug in for seizures, and foaming at the mouth, i was crying frantically i was a wreck. they took her to the back and worked very hard on her and were very helpful to her needs. Dr. Deaver was very understanding and caring for her and did the best he could with what he had to go on. unfortunately she did pass at 4:00am last Monday but i am confident they did the best they could do for her to make sure she was not in pain. and in the end they helped out with my bill knowing that i was at a previous vet the day before for the same reasons. they allowed me to go in and she her three times and give her as much love as i could before it was too late.i will go back there in the future with other animals for sure. thank you DR. deaver PROS: very caring, considerate of the money aspect, very down to earth people CONS: i have expeirnced no cons with them more

Great vets! 8/24/2005

Pet Emergency clinic is one place you hope you never have to go but having had to go there on more than on occasion I can say that they service is fantastic. Vets are wonderful at dealing with the animals and very compassionate with animals and stressed out pet owners. Advice and care administered is top notch. PROS: Only option for pet care after hours -- great service CONS: due to hours can't follow up with anyone during day more

better have cash or check or credit card. 5/18/2005

this place i'm sure is a nice place. it's clean, the people seem friendly and all. Although in the past my dog got severly injured and they weren't able to work out a payment plan with us. To them it was well sorry we can't help you. That's not cool. I love my dog, he is part of my family. I would do anything for him. Call Dr. Clark of critters care if you ever have an emergency. He's great and works with you if needed. He stitched our boy up and did a phenominal job. more
