one of the best dining experiences i've had since moving here over 5 years ago. very cordial, knowledgable staff, who actually know how to properly serve a bottle wine table-side. wine list is impressive. the protion sizes are lovely, and the food is authentic, fresh, and made with care. definitely recommend reservations, as it is a small jewel of a place and gets full quickly. more

A great place for authentic Italian cuisine 9/19/2009

There is no other way to say it: This place is SO good. I lived in Italy, so I know good Italian food when I taste it. The owner is always there, and always happy to see you. He is on top of his wait staff-- very professional. Not that they really need it, I have never had a bad experience with any of the servers. The busboys deserve just as much props as anyone; very attentive and great energy. The pastas are perfectly cooked, and the sauces are out of this world. Al dente is a given here-- sanno cucinare la pasta!! However, the filet with red wine sauce and green onion mashed potatoes is one of the best dishes I have ever had in my 8 years in LA. The flavors compliment each other marvelously, I couldn't ask for more. We usually begin with an appetizer or two (because these, too, are delicious). My favorites are the zucchini flowers, lightly fried and filled with a pocket of a mild ricotta cheese heaven. If not in the mood for something fried, we go for the burrata con peperoni (roasted bell peppers). So simple, but so crisp and appetizing. After such a substantial meal, we usually all split a millefoglie. It is a light strawberry mousse layered with crisp, sugary almond tiles, and surrounded by fresh strawberries. I've truly never had a bad meal here! Pros: Best filet I've ever had Cons: Nothing more

Most Romantic Restaurant!!! 5/2/2009

My boyfriend brought me to Pecorino and it was exquisite! I LOVE the ambience, red bricks with warm candles…it’s definitely the most romantic restaurant I have been in Los Angeles. The menu switches from classic food like Lasagna, Carbonara and Bolognese, to unique dishes like the crusted filet of sole, stuffed artichokes, and amazing salads! Since it was my first time, the manager gently offered us desserts and dessert wine. It the best Italian restaurant for sure Pros: Everything! :) Cons: nothing more

BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT in L.A. 4/7/2009

A friend of mine invited me to this restaurant...wow....I was totally impressed! The ingredients are fresh and well balanced. I had a burrata with avocado, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes that was melting in my mouth. Deep friend zucchini flowers were of the hook! I ordered home made fettucini with main lobster, asparagus and cherry tomatoes, no cream, no butter, light and extremely tasty! The zucchini-and-potatoes filet of sole was unique, never had it that way. I got to say that I’ve been to many Italian restaurants in Brentwood and Beverly Hills, but Pecorino has just become my favored. Prices are inexpensive, and the service is like in Italy! Real Italian waiters caring you like you are in the family. Must try, and you would love it. Pros: Exquisite Food, Inexpensive Price, Service Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Raack of Lamb was the best 9/11/2008

It was only my first time at Pecorino, so I can't write a generalized review - so here is a specific one: We went on a Thursday and ordered the special of the evening - an amazing raack of Lamb for 2, with garlic spinach and roasted potatoes. I've had alot of meat dishes, but never anything like this. Out of this world.\r \r In addition to getting a great meal, the wait staff is professional and courteous, but also warm and very conversational. I felt right at home here in Brentwood. And the apps are great too. 5 stars. more

Pecorino Restaurant is LA's BEST Italian Restaurant by Far! 8/3/2008

Their meats, caseroles, pastas were all outstanding. Deserts were also different, refreshing and delicious! The hospitality is second to none. The owners are extremely wonderful to their guests and I have nothing but Great things to say about my experiences at Pecorino. I'll go there as often as I can. This place will be around forever...It's LA's newest staple. Pros: Ambiance, Food, Service more

Cramped, not romantic and no A/C 6/5/2008

I went because the review was good. But they must be a proxy, because it was not very good experience. How can you enjoy a meal when the next table is sitting on top of you. The only table with room is for a table of 6 or 5 in a corner. All the other tables , have their chairs backed up against each other, and if you move your chair the other guest turns around and glares at you, cuz theyare just as uncomfortable. I made reservations with out ever going there , and once I got there I wanted to run to another restaurant. It's so cramped! The open kitchen is spouting heat and oil...it's not the great eats when you are sweating in your dolce gabbana, and your toes even start to sweat but you're wearing open toe heels! I'm surprise the fire marshall did not show up. Oh the food. It is nothing to scream about. Really. This is a horrible date place. The girl will not be impressed! It's not romantic. Pros: In brentwood, valet Cons: mediorce food, NO space, NO A/C more

Pecorino?Well what can you say about perfection. 10/12/2007

Pecorino Restaurant\r \r Pecorino?Well what can you say about perfection.\r \r Dining in a very quaint & romantic setting. The building and the motif of character and history. Now to the best part the food! This is one restaurant that knows what they are doing and has there act together. True authentic Italian food as if you were eating in a elegant restaurant in Northern Italy. Now for a person as myself where I have been and dines in Italy, you definitely know Pecorino did there homework and brought home a piece of Northern Italy to Southern California. The lamb is excellent, the risotto is delicious. And the desserts? Well lets no go there other than saying there is nothing they can?t do less than with care and excellence. Truly a very enjoyable experience. I recommend PECORINO with rave reviews at any time of the day, for lunch or dinner.\r more

Wonderful Food/Excellent Service 7/1/2007

\r I've been to Pecorino twice now and LOVED it both times. The first was for lunch and the second for dinner. Lunch was wondeful. The owner, Mario was warm, welcoming and very accomodating (we were a party of 13). If you want to go somewhere quiet for lunch without all the noise and attitude, this is the place. As for dinner.... we had 8:30 reservations but weren't seated til 9:15. I would have normally been really annoyed with this, but the hostess was so kind and understanding. She brought us champagne on the house as well as some zucchini flower appetizers that were delicious. I've tried the so many of the dishes here in my two visits (I like to share :) ). If you're looking for homemade tasting lasagna, this is the place to come. The salads are also very delicious and quite filling. The Orata and Branzino is also very delicate and lovely. I'm telling you..... there isn't a bad item on this menu!! If you're looking to relive your italian vacation dining experience without flying all the way to Italy, go to Pecorino..... It's worth every penny! Pros: Food/service more

Fantastic Italian food, romantic ambiance, 5/21/2007

I just had dinner at Pecorino last night and it was so delicious. I have lived in the neighborhood for some time and can't believe I haven't tried it yet. Compared to some of the equally expensive Italian alternatives in Brentwood, Pecorino stands out and gives you a meal satisfying enough to warrant the price. The burrata appetizer (a special) was devine, and the L'ammatriciana pasta was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of sauce. A great spot for a romantic occasion. Pros: Amazing Italian more

very very good, not great 8/19/2006

Brentwood is filled with pretentious expensive Italian restaurants- most with predictable and average menus. Pecorino stands out from the pack with an interesting menu, and warm friendly service that is a welcome change in this upscale locale. The dining room is simple, and makes a pleasant place to spend several hours. You can actually hear the other diners at your table. Salads were more than just mixed greens with balsamico... try the bean salad with bottarga. Pasta's were exquisite, the pasta with pecorino cheese and black pepper sounded as if it could be boring but turned out to be one of the most delicious pasta dishes I've ever tasted. Main courses were somewhat more simple and predictable. Everything was well prepared though I was not as wowed as at many other restaurants in this price range. Still, Pecorino is a great addition to the neighborhood and I look forward to going back. Pros: friendly service, great pastas, pleasant atmosphere Cons: a lot of other choices in this price range more

Extrordinary Italian sets a Precedence on San Vicente! 8/9/2006

IT's nice to identify the future legendary restaurants ! This is definately one of them! From Zucchini flowers stuffed with delicate ricotta and pecorino cheeses and lightly fried to perfection to the Porchetta(Something you only find in Italy) to the best espresso and desserts that are mouthwatering. Service is exceptional if you are a person who understands service and are not a complaining type who wants to alter all their impeccable dishes before even trying them. (I sat next to a couple like this) When you go to a new place, open your mind, try something new and let your pallate explore the senses within. Pecorino is A 10+. Pros: Food, Authenticity, Warm & Cozy Atmosphere more

BEST FOOD IN LA! FANTASTIC WINE MENU & THE GUYS WHO RUN THIS PLACE HitA HOMERUN! 7/3/2006

I have been here 5 or 6 times since they opened a copule of years ago. This place deserves an award of distinction! For their menu which is completely original, their wine list with very hard to find wines from vineyards that I've personally been to but could never find a bottle in the states anywhere! Every dish I've had here is far & away an explosion of flavors for ones tastebuds and the warmth exuding from the owners is memorable to say the least. I am always greeted with a handshake and like the song from ""Cheers"" they always remember my name! You've gotta try the Millefoglie for dessert. They are amazing light crispy almond tiles with fresh strawberries, whipcream and ....I need not say anymore. I can see why this place was rated ""one of the Best restaurants in the World"" by Food & Wine magazine last month and the ""#1 Hotspot in LA"" by Angeleno Mag. I'm looking forward to my next visit... Pros: Excellent Food, Excellent Service, Cozy Atmosphere Cons: You need a reservation during prime dinner hours more

Authentic Northern Italian-Rustic&wonderful! 5/1/2006

From the Outstanding stuffed zucchini flower, to the rustic bean soup, then the all white Artichoke Lasagne and peppered pasta to end with the millefogle dessert, there are not enough words in the english language to describe it...Buono!! Crowd is very hip, lots of industry folk here. I would recommend reservations or you may be waiting a bit...Charm, Fantastic Authentic food and service to die for! Pros: FOOD, WINE, CLIENTELE more

Rustic Italian - in Brentwood 4/15/2006

I've been to the restaurant twice and have been very happy with food and the service. The food reminds me of my travels in Italy and the owner and wait staff are incredibly attentive and gracious. I've enjoyed this addition to the neighborhood and look forward to visiting more often. Try the fried zuchinni flower stuffed with ricotta, pecorino and basil - yummy. Pros: attentive service, pleasant host Cons: parking more

Arrogant chef 1/4/2006

If you love Italian food, but are looking for something different, this is not the place. It's tiny the food is ""OK"" and not the typical Italian menu you find everywhere else. The entire place, including the chef and the waiters are Italian and they bring with them the warmth and hospitality of their culture. But, don't EVER ask for something not in the dishes description (not even changing the type of pasta from spaghetti to penne) because the chef will start yelling. You won't be able to understand him, but by look on your waiter's face, you know it isn't nice. Also, if you're looking for a young, hip crowd, you will not find it here--it was a nice date spot, but we were the only ones under 60. Pros: Service Cons: Space, heavy dishes more

quite a disappointment 10/15/2005

We were really excited to try Pecorino because of the rave reviews it received. Overall we were quite disappointed. We started with the bruschetta made with stewed tomatoes. The cheese for this appetizer was too pungent and it tasted like spaghetti sauce on toast. The zucchini flower stuffed with ricotta was bland-as though it was just flavored with salt We had to try really hard to eat any of it. The only memorable part of the meal was the millefogie dessert. For the price it definitely wasn't worth it. Pros: nice ambience, millefoglie more

A TRIP TO ITALY... 7/28/2005

Truly, this is the BEST Italian Food in Los Angeles and I am tempted to go as far as to say the Best I've ever eaten in or out of Italy! Authentic to the T, their hospitality and warmth make it very special. I had the special ""Raviolo"" and a taste of my 3 friends dishes...A Veal Chop, heavenly, A Black Pepper Pasta Dish..so simple, yet wondeful and a Brisket like you'll never find anywhere. The wine list is impressive and dessert ...Ask them to bring you a dish of tastes...You won't regret it! more
