I accidentally left a piece of luggage approx. 5-10 ft away from the front door in the middle of the parking lot at 11pm on Sat, July 2, 2016. I was either the last shuttle or they had 1 more shuttle run. When we got home and I realized we had left our luggage, I immediately called (1.5 hr later) but it was either closed or no one was picking up the phones. I left a detailed message.\r \r Early the next morning, I called again. Amazingly--NO ONE saw a piece of luggage in the middle of the lot right by the front door. \r \r In the past 3 days, I have called 7 times, been told by 4 different people that they would call me back to let me know about the status of my luggage, and no one ever called me back! To add insult to injury in the middle of talking with the general manager, Brielle Wilkins, she put me on hold not once but TWO times while I was speaking mid-sentence. UPDATE: On Day 4, the manager did call me back & told me that she had looked at the security camera video but wasn't able to see our vehicle or luggage. I was appreciative that she at least took the time to do what I asked & call me back. It would've been much better if it had been handled like that from the beginning. Overall, a very frustrating & expensive mistake. \r \r If you can't trust staff to turn in forgotten luggage (worth $200), you would be CRAZY to give them keys to your car (worth $10,000). Interestingly, we found Styrofoam plates in our van on our return--did someone eat in our car??? more

We had a confirmation number for a rental car at Payless at the Philadelphia Airport location. After taking the long-awaited shuttle, we were told they don't have any more cars. We were told the manager, Carl would reimburse us the difference between our Avis rental and the Payless price. Can't reach Carl and he doesn't return calls.... Forget renting at Payless! more

Hard to believe they are in business - worst experience I have ever had and I travel a lot and have never written a review but felt the need to share with others so they did not have to go through the same experience.\r 1) I arrived into the airport at midnight and sat at the car rental waiting area for 45 minutes before I finally called and they said you have to call to get a ride - now I have never heard of this / it was never told to me and what a waste of time. Good thing I called because they would have closed up and I would have been left without a car.\r 2) I finally get to the car rental place which is far from the airport and when I get there they tell me they do not have my car and actually they only have 1 vehicle left which is a van. I said thats ok. Then they proceed to tell me it stinks and do I mind that... (really?) - I am desperate as I have a work meeting to get to and I need a car quickly so I say I don't mind. Then a while later they tell me the vehicle is not available and I am going to have to find another car with another rental company (what?!).... \r 3) When I finally get to Enterprise I am told I have to pay $150 / day because I did not make a reservation - the payless clerk told me the manager would help with any difference but after calling many times, the manager never returned my call.\r \r I have never had such a bad experience and they should not be in business -- mistakes happen but this was so not acceptable how they handled this.\r Kathy more

Great money saver 2/25/2008

A great car rental at a great price. The check in/check out process was a breeze, not to mention the shuttle driver was very cordial! I'm already planning a 2nd trip to Philadelphia, and of course I will be renting from Payless. Pros: Friendly staff, great shuttle service more

Worst Rental Car Agency I Ever Rented Frm 10/8/2006

This morning, my Payless rental car tire blew out. I believe I had 32 miles on it at the time the tire blew. Payless tried to claim that I had run into a chug hole, but Firestone tells me that the tire had a defective tread separation, and tells me that the damage to the tire could not have been from a chug hole. The tread completely separated from the tire. I had to pay Firestone $79.51 for a new tire. I thought it was industry standard that the rental agency would reimburse you for that, but Payless has refused to refund me. I made the reservation through Expedia, and they are horrified by this. To add insult to injury, Payless then had the audacity to CHARGE me an additional $141.00 for an inferior tire that Firestone told me was only worth $40.00. Payless refused to release the one hour old tire I had just bought in New Salem to me, or to ship it to me. They did not acknowledge it was my tire, if I was going to pay them for another tire. I then asked them to loan me a knife so I could cut MY tire, so they would resell it or otherwise use my tire. They refused, and 'wrote me up' as threatening to 'cut their tire' -- but I had just paid for it, and they were making me pay for yet another tire! Go figure! I also had to pay an additional $50.00 to Continental to change my plane reservation to a later time this afternoon due to the defective tire blowing up. In all, it was a horrible experience, costing me over $350 to rent a car to drive 30 miles to Trevose and 30 miles back, and the Payless people were simply awful -- totally lacking in any of the charm I expected from the City of Brotherly Love. I could not believe that people were as mean spirited as I found at this Payless location. I urge everyone to rent their vehicles elsewhere. LET THE RENTER BEWARE!!!! THE DEAL LOOKS GOOD UNTIL YOU GET BACK TO THE LOT AND THEY RUN THE NUMBERS! THE WAY THEY TREATED ME TODAY WAS SHODDY AND UNDERHANDED, AND SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED. Pros: Nothing to recommend this facility. Cons: Off site from the airport, rude employees, deceptive trade practices more
