Delicious homemade Italian 9/29/2011

I've been frequenting Pasta Fagioli for many years now, and have never had a bad experience. Everything on the menu is homemade, and the dishes are reasonably priced. The eggplant rolatini is an excellent appetizer to start off your meal. Throughout the years, I've tried pasta dishes and chicken, seafood and veal, and the dishes that really are standouts for me are the chicken ponte vecchio, a hearty chicken in a great lemon mushroom sauce, or the Perch Piccata, always fresh and served with veggies and a salad. The service is quick and efficient and the servers are friendly, the ambiance is homey and comfy and reminds me of a traditional sit down Italian eatery in Florence, Italy, the place where the owner studied culinary arts. I love this restaurant and it is a hidden gem. I really don't understand how anyone could give Pasta Fagioli a bad review! more

The owner of the restaurant is a complete Jerk! 9/15/2011

If it has a negative star rating I'd give it -100. This is a terrible restaurant and I DO NOT recommend it. Here's the story... my wife and visited this evening for our wedding anniversary. My wife ordered the Angel Hair pasta with lobster, portabello and shrimp - their special meal for the evening. The lobster and shrimp were substantially over cooked (shrimp was rubbery) and the lobster was dried and flaked... AWFUL. So, we inform the waiter that we are not happy with the meal and would like to try something else. He informs the cook who I find out is the owner (Hamed Kouk). Hamed comes out from the kitchen and begins challenging us stating that there was no problem with the meal, in front of other guests who are there. It was not even discrete... the waiter was embarrassed and apologetic. I couldn't believe it. This is a loser restaurant and living in close proximity to this restaurant, I'm greatly disappointed. The owner has an attitude problem and it is not worth the visit. By the way, this meal was $28.00. I can assure you that you can get a better meal at Andiamos, Brio, Maggianos, Bravo for less money, at a host of other italian restaurants in the area. This is an anniversary dinner we won't forget! more

Embarrassing Evening 2/5/2010

Recently we attempted to use a Restaurant com certificate. We were told that the minimum order with the coupon was $50 even though the coupon said $35. When we tried to charge the meal, we were told that with the coupon it was cash only because they did not want to pay the 2% credit card fee which in this case would have been $2. The fine print on the coupon did say Cash only but management felt it was more important to embarrass us in front of our guests instead of having a satisfied customer. Needless to say, we will not return but I do not think I would have anyway. It is expensive, small and noisy. Cons: Poor management more

an excellent discovery right in my neighborhood! 11/15/2009

I'm glad a friend told me about Pasta Fagioli... I hadn't even noticed it before then, but it's truly a great find. Their sauces and soup are amazing, and although it's a bit pricey, the portions are big and you get a salad and bread with your meal. I wish that they had a bigger location, though, because currently the seating is very limited! Great for carry-outs or catering if you have a bigger group. Pros: amazing food, convenient location, THE best bolognese sauce. Cons: a bit pricey, but the portions are big more

disappointing experience 7/12/2008

Tried the signature pasta & fagioli --- turned out to be a thick, tasteless, bean concoction, rather than the zesty pasta with bean soup we expected. House ""Caesar"" salad, although fresh and crisp, arrived with indistinct dressing and no croutons. The entrees, which included chicken, veal and halibut dishes, were just ""so-so"" with vegetable accompaniments that were somewhere between raw and ""al dente."" The biggest disappointment was dessert --- a Little Debbie style cake masquerading as tiramisu, sporting a thick sugary frosting, with no hint of mascarpone, expresso, or chocolate, let alone liquor. To add insult to injury, the food bill (no alcohol is served) for four of us was $140! This was a far cry from the restaurant described in other reviews on this site; we would not return. more

Best Italian food around 6/6/2008

This place has the best Italian food I have tasted (outside of my own kitchen) since leaving Boston 26 yrs ago. I have tried just about everything on their menu, but tend to gravitate to the Tutta Mare'. Very reasonably price, fair amount of food (you WILL NOT walk away hungry). The fresh Italian bread (nice & heavy) is to die for. Pros: Small and out of the way location, nice ambience, can be comfortable in jeans or casual dress, great service, fabulous food, decent quantity and at a reasonable price. Cons: Can't afford to go every night :( more
