I went with my husband because he wanted to Taste a good meat. Since I am on a diet, we ordered only one starter, one plate and a sangria, the waitress was rude when she said "if we were only going to order that" Furthermore we order a dessert and we paid over 120!!!! The meat was good but the restaurant is definitely overpriced and the waitress was extremely pushy. Do not go to this place, save yourself from a bad experience. more

Its as if two non-business savvy mid-30's foreign brothers wanted to invest daddy's money in A) a steakhouse and B) a dance club but only had enough for one. \r \r Its a big turn off when the smell of that fake fog whooshes over a steak and wine we're already overpaying for. \r \r Guys, tone it down a little, at least until the after 0200 crowd arrives. Put more into the service and food and less into the "look" of faux fancy. "Lively" is the understatement of the year. Not all your clientele is coked up requiring everything loud and bright - or looking to buy a 5K blown glass vase for their 50th floor hi-rise. You call it a steakhouse, give people a steakhouse. The food and wines are definitely good, its got great potential.\r \r By the appearance of everyone's cookie-cutter Euro-Latin styled dress and lack of manners, they'll pay for anything they think is popular-so you should do fine for a little while. For the long-term success make everyone happy. \r \r Thanks more

I took my best friend to this restaurant for her birthday last week. We have been there before a few years ago before they expanded the restaurant and remember the steak was very tasty so we went back. Although the food was good it was overpriced and on top of that they add the gratuity to the bill and the service wasn't the best. If you decide to go here for a meal BEWARE.. the tip is already added yet the server decided to give herself an additional tip without my authorization. No matter what you do make sure you check that bill CAREFULLY before you walk out so that you don't fall victim to this scam. I called the restaurant as soon as I noticed and was given the run around for 3 days. After 3 days I finally spoke to the manager or owner Rosie who DID NOT bother to apologize for the incident and only made excuses for the server and on top of that had an attitude. I guess the days of the customer is always right are long gone. I am just sorry I am out an additional $18.00 in stolen tips. \r \r Below is the NASTY email I got from the owner when I told her I didn't appreciate the fact that she did not care about my situation. \r \r ***************\r \r THE APOLOGIZE! \r FROM:Rosie G \r LAS VACAS GORDAS has been in business for more than 16 years and we always add the gratuity to our checks. This is explained clearly on all our menus as well as the checks. The customers have always the option to take or add additional tips. I apologized for this inconvenience several times and I requested the information of the credit card (since we do not keep record of any cc) to do the refund right away. After several emails back and forth I never received this information. In addition, my "excuses" were only explanations on what might have happened, and the attitude that I might had have was only a reflection of yours. We do our best but sometimes it's hard to please everyone. \r \r Rosie G. more

Food was good, portions were large...maybe a little over priced.\r \r The waiter we had (tall and bald) was rude and pushy...\r \r 1) Criticized food selections of several people at the table (all in a not too veiled attempt to sell, sell, sell.)\r \r 2) Made a sign to his fellow waiter to signify that our table was full of homosexuals... at which time they shared a laugh\r \r 3) Without offering dessert or coffee, the waiter threw the bill in the middle of the table... obviously trying to push us out for the next customer\r \r 4) As there were multiple parties paying, he tried to get an extra $45 out of us... and only after our insistence that he recalculate did he admit his error\r \r A bottle of their house wine fell off the table behind us (super narrow tables) and their waiter and the manager forced the customer to pay for the bottle.... it was obviously a poor set up on the restaurant's part... they crowd the wine on these narrow tables... trying again to sell, sell, sell. The place felt more like a nicely decorated used car lot than an upscale Argentinian steakhouse.\r \r I won't be back. more

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years and it has always been amazing. The sweet-breads are the best I've had, the sausage is great, the churasco is always fantastic and perfectly cooked, and there is no chimichurri better. Yes, the waitstaff gets busy becuase it is a great restaurant and they get very full. Sit back relax and enjoy your evening, why the rush. \r And do not leave without trying the dulce de leche creps.\r Ignore the other comments is it the best! more

My fiance and I finally tried Las Vacas Gordas after hearing great things about it. I can tell you the food looked and smelled good, but I never go tot taste it. We went on a Thursday night around 6:00. There was only one other table of customers there when we arrived. We ordered a glass of wine and a beer. It took 45 minues for our waitress to return to our table to ask if we would like another drink or if we were ready to order. Meanwhile, the place is starting to fill up. We ordered the Jamon Serrano as an appetizer. It arrived and was delicious. By this time, the place was completely full. We ordered our dinner and waited for nearly an hour. The waitress walked past us several times and we must have been invisible. She never came back to our table! My fiance finally had to get up to get her attention. She had a terrible attitude and kept saying it was not her fault, it was the kitchen's fault. She then proceeded to give us our bill, which INCLUDED the dinner we never got! We asked for the manager and there was not one on site. She adjusted the bill, but never offered an apology. \r \r In observing the entire restaurant, there were only two waitresses. But there were about 10 busboys just standing around. \r \r I don't think we will be trying Las Vacas Gordas again. more

I went in with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. I had been there twice before and the service was shotty but not like the service we received this time. The plates came out 20 minutes apart, so by the time we all had our food, the majority of it was ice cold. The Sangria took about 45 minutes to make its way to our table, and in the meanwhile we weren't even offered a piece of bread or water. The waitress was beyond ditzy, to say the least, and keep mixing up and forgetting items (rice) in our order (mind you we ALL ordered practicaly the same thing) so it wasn't that complicated. When we asked to speak to the owner, ohh we were in for the suprise of our lives. The owner had to audacity to say that because my party of 10 (which spent over $500 that night alone) was 15 minutes late to our dinner reservations, that it justified our receiving that worst service ever. He even went on to say that if I wanted my rice that he would have them serve me a take home bowl of rice and fix the problem that way. He is such a pretentious EGO MANIAC, someone needs to have him look in a mirror and get of his high horse. He needs to realize, what business will you have if you treat your clients like dirt. NEVER step foot in here unless you are prepared to be treated like dirt and pay a high price for it. more

i have gone here two times and both times were absolutely awful. the first time the waitress over charged us and never came to the table after she took our order. when i asked for the manager to show him the wrong charges he refused to take them off, claiming that i did order the things on the bill that were incorrect. on top of this the gratuity was added to the bill!! the second time i went was with a friend who really wanted to try this place. not wanting to ruin her choice, i sucked it up and went. i ordered a salad and when it came out completely dry i asked for dressing and was told they do not have any dressing for the salad. the busser said they serve it plain. i politely told him that he could take the salad because i was not going to eat it dry. the busser took it without a problem. when the server saw him taking the salad he ran over to the busser and argued back and forth with him. he then took the salad from the busser and stormed over to our table. he literally threw the salad back on the table and told me that the salad was mine and i ordered it so i must pay for it! i told him that i never said i was not going to pay for it, but i wasnt going to eat it, so he could take it off the table. he threw up his hands and left the salad on the table and walked away. he went to the other servers and began talking very loudly and pointing at our table. i started to get aggravated and called the server over and asked him why he left the salad. he snatched it up and rolled his eyes. i wa so tempted to walk out but i wanted to stay so my friend could try the food. when the food came out the server never came to ask us how we were doing. our water glasses were never refilled and we ate our entire meal without anything to drink. we waited for 30 minutes after we were done eating to get the bill. when the bill came i payed the amount subtracting half of the automatic gratuity. when we were walking out of the restaurant the server came running up to us and yelled that we did not pay the full gratuity and that we must. i replied that he did not deserve the entire tip amount and i gave him what he deserved. he then followed me out the door rubbing his shoulders up against mine yelling that i must pay his gratuity. i laughed and said i know how it works since i too work at a restaurant in miami. he then began to yell things at me in spanish. he created a huge scene. everybody was staring at us, but i continued on my way to my car vowing that i would never put myself through such hell again! more

Their treatment of their clients leaves a lot to be desire. Our three year old son had fallen sleep in his stroller and they did not allowed us to bring it in even though the restaurant was empty and the stroller would not have taken any additional space. We actually had to leave. Not very accomodating for families more

Place is always busy! Haven't been able to get in to try it. Unlike some of the reviewers people love the place. Prices look $25 to $70. Mostly meat. Walked by on a cold Sunday night and they a 30 minute wait! more

Stay away..horrible service and arrogant manager/owner.\r waited 1.30 hrs for our filet mignon. finally arrived and was cooked well done instead of requested medium rare. sent back and had to wait another 30 min..the steaks this time were just seared, extremely rare.. I do not understand how difficult it can be to cook a filet mignon medium rare.\r To top it they overcharged the dinner with $10.00 for the bottle of red wine. Once we complained nothing happend..the mgr did not even feel like showing up at our table. When i left i went to the manager and expressed this was the worst dinner ever, and he just told me where the door was...how arrogant is this..\r and i was going to book my future birthday dinner for 32 persons..obviously I will choose another restaurant.\r We will NEVER return. more

WOW!! I really have no idea what the bad reviewers are talking about. My husband and I just had the best and biggest churrasco and chicken breast's in the world! The service was excellent, the food... The chimichurri sauce...I'm trying to look for more words other than excellent and the best to express how good they where. Totally going back and of course we definitely recomend it more

Reading other reviews, it is clear that what happened to us was not an exception, but the way this place runs. We also got hassled with the "you can't seat until all the group is here", and fell in the trap of the "kobe tomahawk" which was cleverly offered to us without mentioning the tiny detail of the price... $72 for a piece of just average meat. I was also offered a $1,500 bottle of wine by the arrogant owner/waiter, which we were "smart" enough to pass on... The final insult was to see that what we thought was regular water (that's what we asked), came in the bill as "Vacas Gordas Water" (as if that was a real brand...), at $2.50 per each tiny bottle. That's the night that this place lost two families that wanted to like the place, and since then I've been telling everybody what I am telling you now: PLEASE DON'T GO!!! more
