Park Manor of Quail Valley

My mother was there for rehab treatment for 3 days, before the nurse overdosed her medication. She had to be admitted to the hospital and now she is dead. If you love your love ones, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THEM TO PARK MANOR on 2234. I have a law suit and they are trying to get out of paying for their negligence. more

Very unpleasant experience with the administrator of this facility; kept figiting like he was on something. Never looked me in the eye when I was talking about my family member and acted like he didnt care if I was there or not. The nursing is good hear, they listen and try to fix your problems. The administrator needs to be replaced. more

My mother was a patient there in late Dec. and early Jan. 2010, 2011 for about two weeks after surgery for a broken hip. Her first day there they wanted to put a diaper on her because they did not have the proper equipment for her to use the toilet; I got so angry they found a shower seat for her to sit on so she can use the toilet. The next morning they put a pad under her to urinate in and left her laying in her urine for over an hour. The food was always cold, the beds have hand cranks making the patients dependant on someone to adjust the beds and the call lights go ignored for hours at a time. The therapy was ok and the therapists were very nice but the equipment was minimal. This is more a nursing home than a rehab facility. I moved my mother to a rehab hospital that was more suited for her needs. I must also mention that I had to put up a good fight with her insurance co. to get her moved. I do not recommend this place for rehab or as a nursing home I saw too many things that I didn’t like. more

The Park Manor Quail Valley provided my dad with great rehab care to get him home, the therapists always gave a personal touch, the rehab manager helped me understand what therapy does and continued to update me on his progress. The cna's that took care of dad was nice and pleasant. more

This nursing home in Quail Valley is also a Rehab. They present themselves as very interested in personally serving your relative, but every time I went, my grandmother needed attention. She had all her faculties so I believed her when she told me they didn't change her or feed her in a timely manner, even when she told them, they would wait at least 2 hours. Bad diaper rash. She spent 2 months here and when she passed away it took 51 days for them to refund the excess payment. They guarantee 30 days, but we had to hound them to get it back. Wouldn't return our calls or pass on messages until the 51st day. Still waiting for the check to arrive. Be sure you get everything in writing and don't just leave your relative to them. My mom was transferred from hospital to here. When I gave them my check, they did not even finish my paperwork before they ran to the bank to cash my check! How tacky was that!! In 2 days, they missed her medications, did not feed her and then put her tray on her bedside when she was a ""must be fed"" patient, which resulted in her getting food lodged in her throat. \r I am outraged by their lack of sensitivity. My Mother has been a Resident at Park Manor for the past 3 years. Initially, in 2006, the service was not good, however it has improved dramatically during the past 2 years. I must add that I have been very satisfied with the current mangement team during the past year. When requested, I have been provided the required assistance from management, CNA's, Nurses, Maintenance, etc., and the follow-up response time and attitude has been exemplary.\r I do not expect the Facility to be perfect, so I attempt to recognize that there will be some errors and mistakes, however in my estimation the aforementioned during the past year has been minimal at most, and I am satisfeid.\r John L. I couldn't disagree with two of these posts more. The building is beautiful on the outside and inside, but the care in it makes it the most attractive. The care my loved one received at this facility was great from therapy to the kitchen and in between. There were days that were hectic but someone always found time to answer my questions and my dad's needs in the midst of the hectic moments. The administrator is Beverly Mustafa and she is there checking on things and is friendly and helpful. The business office and the admitting girl answered all our questions and made sure we knew what we would be needing financially so we had no surprises. We knew when our insurance ran out and what we needed to pay to stay past the insurance. The nursing department was adequately staffed and while at times it took awhile to answer the light, he still got the care he needed. The staff prioritize the situation and who needs more help. Like one lady fell and they all helped her even though another light was on. When they made sure she was ok then they answered the light that was on. The food was good and he liked what they offered. The facility never smelled either. Therapy is on top of getting things done. They were friendly and got him so much stronger than we thought they could in two weeks. He couldn't walk or get out of bed on his own when he got there. When we left he walked to the front and waved bye. Therapy made sure he had everything he needed at home. His only complaint was the noise at times (mainly 1:45 -2:15pm) was very loud. The phone rang alot but it is a business. From a family standpoint, there needs to be more parking. I would bring another family member here and would recommend this facility to anyone. It's a shame one or two reviews sound so bad. I would say from 2007 to 2009 things have changed. My father was there December 06-February 07 for recuperation from the surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm rupture. At 86 it was a miracle (5% survival rate) that he survived (Dr. Vargas is a great surgeon). The therapy staff was great and most of the nurses seemed to be caring and knowledgeable. But there weren't enough of them. I happened to be in the room when my Dad's roommate had a seizure and had to go after help when the call thingy didn't work. My biggest complaint is the business office, they won't send the proper paper work to the Long Term Care Insurance company to credit my Dad's 3-month waiting period. After numerous calls from the home health people, me and the insurance company, still no response. At 89 he may need that care and we shouldn't have to pay for it because these people were too lazy or inept to do their job. I have heard they are under new management so I am going to try again. I would check them out a lot more closely if I considered using them again. They seemed fine for simple getting-back-on-your-feet therapy but not for life threatening care. And his clothes kept disappearing when I wasn't fast enough to take them home to launder. Pros: Pretty place, good therapy Cons: Not enough staff, business office inept and unresponsive more

Yes, they are nice people. Yes, the place is clean. However, they do not have enough people to take care of your critically ill loved one. They do not have enough people to care for everyone there. My mother was in there for only 12 days, and because of the lack of treatments, she returned to ICU within 12 days. I went to this place every day to check on my mother, because I felt that something was not right. If I had not gone to check on her the last day she was there, I feel certain that she would have been dead the next day. She could barely breath. This was at 6 pm in the evening. I felt like if someone competent had checked on her during the day, they would have seen that she was in distress and called and informed me that she needed to go to the hospital. I asked that they check her oxygen level. It was at 64. Normal is 90 and above. The nurse decided she needed to be put on oxygen to help her breath until the ambulance came. They brought 3 oxygen bottles before they found one that had oxygen in it. My mother was in the hospital with a colasped left lung with a mucus plug in it. This is directly linked to the lacked of the breathing treatments that she received. She was in the hospital another 20 days before she able to get out. That is when I made a decision that she would come home and I had home health care come in. I have spoken with other people that have had other incidents with this nursing home. If your loved does not need much care and is in pretty good health, then this is the place for you. If your loved needs critical care and is not in good health, then I can not offer you much hope. The medical profession cannot tell you where to go, but they know have knowledge of the kind of care that nursing homes give. When you mention Park Manor, they just have a sour look on their face. If you choose this nursing home, do not trust that they are doing everything that is required, You have to check every day. Pros: Beautiful Place Cons: Not enough staff more

Last month my mother came home from Park Manor Quail Valley and I couldn't diasgree more with the previous testimonial. Mom broke her hip and the hospital recommended Quail Valley. The nursing staff was very receptive and were quick to address any and all of my concerns. The therapy department met my expectations and then some. Michelle, a Physical Therapist, was wonderful!!!! Mom was able to return home after only three weeks.....we were all so pleased. The Adminstrator that was mentioned in the other review, Carol Lowe, is no longer over Quail Valley. A man named David S. is the Administrator now and he was very kind hearted and made us feel very comfortable placing our mom in his care. Overall, I HIGHLY reccommend Quail Valley to anyone who is looking for rehab or long term care. This is one of THE WORST nursing home in the Houston. The main Administrator, Ms. Carol Lowe, is an extremely uncaring individual who is simply doing her administrative duties and could care less about the elderly residents of Park Manor of Quail Valley or their family members. My grandfather was a resident of Park Manor of Quail Valley for a little over 9 months in which many of the ""red flags"" my family alerted the home to went ignored, ultimately resulting in his death. He was left unattended on numerous occasions, one in particular where he fell from the bed on to the hard floor (he was supposed to have mats next to the bed but they were never in place) hitting his head on the metal legs of the bedside rolling table. He was taken to the hospital where they found bleeding in his brain that was untreatable. My family was not alerted to any of this until he was already at the hospital. The staff members of Park Manor of Quail Valley are extremely uncaring and seem to simply be at work to socialize with each other and not do their jobs. My grandfather could not feed himself and the staff members did not properly feed or hydrate him. The staff also did not get my grandfather out of bed during the day. These both ultimately led to a lethal bed sore accumulating on his back. His last trip out of Park Manor of Quail Valley led him to a Fort Bend hospital where the doctors ruled that he was extremely malnourished, dehydrated and that the bed sore could not be healed. He was put in hospice care a few days later and passed away within 24 hours. The staff of Park Manor of Quail Valley did not skip a beat upon hearing that he was gone and his personal possessions were put in a plastic trash bag for us to pick up. They lost his walker and numerous personal items, including his dentures which come to find out were sent home with another patient. If you want the best care possible for your elderly loved ones, DO NOT SEND THEM TO PARK MANOR OF QUAIL VALLEY!!!! more
