amazing sleeper 3/19/2009

I love this place. I've been twice and am going again this week. The menu is creative and cooked to perfection. Service is outstanding. The wine list is extensive, but a tad pricy. The strange thing is that it's in a Marriott Hotel lobby. Yes, the Marriott, not the Ritz. The decor is boring and the drop ceilings must go. Just close your eyes and image somewhere else. Your taste buds will be singing. When you leave your mouth and brain are happy, but you're not overly stuffed. The local organic ingredients are the spot light. This place is better than some of the highest rated places in the Bay Area: Gary Danko, Fifth Floor, Manresa..... I've taken clients from out of town recently, and they were blown away. Pros: food, food, food Cons: decor more

Fresh Ingredients 4/25/2007

Food was pretty good, but disapointing in comparison to Ogden's other restaurants. It seems like he hasn't been here in awhile. I was told there was a new chef, but the menu felt stale. Very expensive, and the restaurant appeared empty even though the bar and hotel were so busy it took 20 minutes to valet. In the middle of nowhere! Food temperature was not hot, but the waiter really tried to make sure we were taken care of. Unfortunately good service can't make up for mediocre food. Pros: Service, Fresh ingredients Cons: Flavor profile, temperature more

amazing meal 12/17/2006

Parcel 104 lived up to it's expectations and even surpassed them. The 3 course meal was delicious and entree portions were very generous. The food was simple but flavorful and elegantly plated. The wine we had (half bottle of syrah) was fantastic if a little bit pricey, but worth it. Service was professional and courteous and courses were well paced. The dining room is beautiful and quiet overall. Didn't feel pretentious. Overall, a wonderful dining experience! Pros: great dining experience more

Unbelievable desserts 11/22/2006

Every bite you sample in this incredible restaurant is well worth the price. The desserts are incredible. Parcel 104 is the only restaurant worth talking about in a city ( Santa Clara ) that's quickly becoming the capital of run-down strip malls. ps: people who read this prior to editing, please forgive my spelling. There are no deserts in Parcel 104. Only unbelievable desserts. more

Excellent food, a little nouvelle cuisine 5/12/2006

I have to disagree with some of the other reviews here, I thought the food was actually excellent. Not huge portions, but not ridiculously small either. Wasn't cheap, and the atmosphere is a little formal but not stuffy - overal a good place for a special occasion, and something a little special and different. My guests were very impressed with the food too. more

Sevice Good, But Not Worth All The Hype 11/8/2005

Very average restaurant with alot of HYPE..but GREAT service. You think this restaurant with all its celebrity & hoopla would be better than the rest or better than average. But I found the food & decor uninspiring. The restaurant was disapointedly AVERAGE. Pros: service Cons: food, cost, ambiance more

Amazing service and good food 10/26/2005

Went as a large group with a reservation, the restaurant was very accomodating even when we were a bit larger than expected. The service was impeccable, though the price was a tad bit high. The food was very good, and the wine list seemed decent. more

Absolutely worth the money!!! 10/16/2005

I've been dined here since it first opens its door.. since they shutted down the Seafood bar, I don't go there that often anymore. We went there recently & we were still impressed with the consistent of the food & service. The Lamb Chop was incredible nice. The Fois Gras was just right. The Tartar Tuna was fresh & tasty. Last but not least, the sampler dessert is to die for... My mother fell in love with steak!!! It was so juicy & just perfect as medium rare! Yum! Of course, it's a fine dining, so for a couple the average bill would probably be $150 without alchohol, but it's worth it if you are into WINE & DINE!!! It's rare to find a truly fine dining around Silicon Valley. No wonder they make it to Wine Spectator again this year!!! Pros: Fine Food, Great Wine List, Service Cons: price more

Valentine's Day Lunch 2/22/2005

My wife and I enjoyed a Valentine's Day lunch. While the food was good...crab/pumpkin bisque, crab club sandwich, it was a bit pricey for lunch. Average value. The ambiance was nice and the table service was average. I would describe it as meandering. I did enjoy the availability of wine flights that allowed you to taste three 2 oz glasses of similar wines. The pour was generous on this occasion. Overall I would give it a 3 1/2 out of 5 star rating. more

Should be renamed ""Ridiculous"" 2/12/2005

We left Parcel 104 hungry, frustrated and $500 lighter... The empty restaurant (5 tables) at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night should have been our first clue. I ordered the chef tastings ($68) at our waiter's suggestion that we would get a sampling of the menu and plenty of food, hahahah. The first course was a dime-sized sample of moosemeat and salsa--it had great flavor. Truffle risotto was also excellent flavor, service was excellent-as it should be the server had 2 tables, but that is were the compliments end. It literally took 30 min. to bring each course. The entree course was a quarter-sized piece of chewy KOBE beef.... by the time they brought the cheese and fruit course-I started laughing. 2 almonds, 2 slices of madarin oranges and a dime-sized piece of brie. It was truly ridiculous. Pros: Good Flavors, Excellent service Cons: Price, Portions more

Surprise 2/4/2005

Who would've thought they could find this in a hotel? First of all, the decor is casually elegant, which was nice. Although the restaurant was full, it still maintained a quiet, intimate atmosphere. The offerings were seasonal, and the ingredients were all organic. A great alternative to dining in downtown San Jose! more

Uninspired, but good presentation 2/3/2005

Parcel 104 is an elegant venue with lots to offer. Celebrity chef status impresses, and the ambiance is cordial, yet comfortable. I find the savory dishes (we were a party of 4) uninspired, except for the tilefish with golden caviar, which was almost too busy, but still delicious and artfully done. Dessert was the best part of the meal, very creative. Portions were perfectly sized, and well-prepared. Service detracted significantly from the meal. We waited up to 20-30 minutes between courses, and our server switched on us mid-meal. The chef personally handled the food restrictions of one of our party members (due to severe food allergies) extremely accommodatingly, but the dessert chef missed a minor detail and an allergic reaction happened anyway. All in all, it was a bittersweet experience but I would think about going back. Pros: Celeb Chef, quality ingredients, technique Cons: service more

Surprisingly Mediocre 2/18/2004

Parcel 104 has all the potential of being a great restaurant. A beautiful room, inventive menu, nice wine list. But our meal on a relatively slow Tuesday evening was marred by absolutely inattentive service, a steak so tough that a guest needed help to not choke, duck that was very tough and so gamey that the sauce couldn't hide the taste. Salads were fine. The wine list is nice but over-priced. The desserts were nothing spectacular. All in all, a good place for a business dinner but I wouldn't recommend for a fine dining experience. Pros: Decor, Inventive Menu, Nice Wine List Cons: , Food was Sub-par more

A Wonderful Dinner 8/20/2002

I am so glad we chose this place for our anniversary. We had a wonderful dinner. The scallops appetizer is the best! Every dish was so well balanced in flavor and artfully presented - I wish they had a tasting menu. If you have not dined here, you are missing out. Pros: food, decor, ambiance Cons: no tasting menu more
