Great Atmosphere, Everything else falls short 11/24/2008

There was a great amount of time and thought spent creating the beautiful environment at this restaurant. The menu is quite ecclectic and yummily concoctions adorn its pages, but I will have to stop there. The restaurant is over-seating their customers ( the asst. manager told me this was why our food took so long to arrive), and they do not have the kitchen space to execute the amount of orders they are taking in order to deliver the food in a timely manner. Also, our green beans had sat waiting so long they turned to yellow strings of mush. The worst part was when we asked after waiting over 45 min for our appetizers to come out--- we asked to speak with the manager and she couldn't have cared less. She said the afore mentioned b.s. about seating too many tables and having a tiny kitchen. UM, HELLO, dont seat so many people all at once then. Three tables around us were feeling the same disappointment. We shared some of our apps. Nice people go there. BUT they probably won't continue for too much longer. Who could blame them... I hear Paragary's owns part of Midtown and has bars and eateries all over. Oh, No, I am very afraid. Pros: Great decor, and Menu Cons: Poor service, quality, and management more

Great food with a lovely outdoor setting 5/14/2007

I went here for a day-late mother?s day dinner with my parents and my boyfriend. Our waiter was really on top of things and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the waterfalls did a great job with noise cancelation. We shared three appetizers; my favorite was the warm herbed goat cheese with pistachios, roasted pears, and red wine syrup, with crostini, though all were good. Other favorites from my party's selections were the Nappa cabbage salad with chicken, cashews, and a Chinese black bean vinaigrette. My salmon was cooked to perfection and I loved the polenta it was served with. My mom raved about her lamb. We shared deserts; the Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp and the Apple Crostada were both presented well, though you would never know looking on, because as soon as they appeared they were gone. The bill was not cheap, but the food and atmosphere were worth it, and we took food home. I think we could have eaten for half the cost and not gone away hungry if there weren't so many good looking things on the menu we just had to try. I wasn?t so hot on the mushrooms with Jarlsberg cheese, it was a little heavy on the lemon for my tastes, and the valet parking wasn?t exactly secure (he left our car running with the key in it and the key locker unlocked and open while he fetched another customers car). Pros: Ambience Cons: Parking more

Good food and nice surroundings, but get there early 8/28/2006

I agree that the outdoor patio makes for a nice dining experience, but get there early to get an outdoor table. Our first experience we had a 6:00pm reservation, but all outside dining was full. Our next experience, we arrived at 5:00pm and were seated outside. The sound of the outdoor waterfall enhances that romantic moment. more

Don't settle for indoors if the weather's nice 6/17/2006

We went to Paragary's for dinner last night and were very impressed. There was a wait to sit outside on the patio, but we were able to sit at the outdoor bar and order drinks and an appetizer while we waited. The patio is closed off from the street and much of the traffic noise is drowned out by the three waterfalls. The setting is also very unique, the courtyard that the outdoor seating is in has three Russian olive trees adorned in white lights. The corner of the courtyard is a large stone fireplace for crisp evenings and the walls are covered in flowering vines. The food was delicious, large-portioned and very reasonably priced. Our waitress was also very courteous and prompt. Pros: Excellent outdoor area, prompt and friendly service, good food Cons: Indoor seating wasn't as nice more

Unsurpassed 2/14/2006

As a serious foodie, I always return to Paragary's not only for the classic menu items, but for Chef Scott Rose's artful interpretation of creative dishes consisting of local organic produce, top-quality meats, and line-fresh fish. I eat out regularly at some of Sacramento's ""hot"" spots, and time after time, I return to Paragary's for a new surprise. It is hard to believe that we could have deserved a chef as talented and consistent as Mr. Rose--you would think he would have his own chic, swank place in SF or LA. But. lucky Sacramento, he is ours! Pros: exquisite menu, fantastic service, incredible patio more

Romantic Dinner 12/21/2005

The food was fantastic. My girlfriend and I started by having Portobello mushrooms as an appetizer, then had the Skirt Steak and Agnatello ravioli and followed it up with the almond biscotti and some chocolate ice-cream. The food was fantastic. It is a little more pricey than most places in Sacramento, but in my opinion you pay for not only the quality of the food, but for the entire experience. After having read some awful reviews about the Staff, I was positively surprised at how well we were taken care of. The server wasn't invasive, didn't interupt our conversations, yet was highly attentetive to our needs. This is going to be a place we will frequent a couple of times a year as we both enjoyed it greatly. I will recommend it to all of my friends. Pros: Food is excellent, Service is excellent , Very quiet more
