Omni Club For Women

I wouldn't join Omni Club Ever again. I have been trying to cancel my membership and stop them from billing me for months. They have a call center that handles billing and cancellation so don't rely on any help from the people you know in the Club. The poorest customer service I have ever seen.\r 11/10/11After fighting with the Omni Club for 3 months about membership cancellation and charges received, I have finally accomplished canceling my membership and getting a refund. However, its was only after they treated me like junk and a lier for 3 months that they finally made it right. What a horrible business model the Omni Club uses. I will never do business with the Omni Club again and will always refer my friends somewhere else. more

I joined The Omni Club Athens 4 years ago and THANK GOD THEY TALKED ME INTO DOING SOMETHING GOOD FOR MYSELF. The reason I am writing is as a part of the cancellation procedure, by the way VERY simple and helped every step of the way by the wonderful onsite staff, The Omni is actually encouraging members to make comments on the web regarding their business. I am more than happy to go through all the steps to sign up on city search to help these guys out. They asked me to help because they have been under attack by their competitors posting fake negative reviews online about them.\r \r The club never failed me. The staff, especially Nikki, Rhuben, Lori and Joe have been a support system and friends when I needed them most. The classes are top notch and my trainer was one of the best investments I have ever made.\r \r The club is always clean, repaired and updated. Quite obviously the best club in town, by a long shot. And I've used others in Athens. Now there are two Omnis in Athens.\r \r I'm graduating and moving away to start a carer and one of my greatest concerns is I won't find a club like Omni or people like Omni's staff. I had no problems following the easy cancellation rules. My guess is that when you want to make your own rules or don't like the rules it can be a hassle. i had no problem.\r \r I highly recommend this business! more

BEFORE YOU JOIN, PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW. I joined Omni after being peer pressured into it. At first, I regretted it because it was expensive and did not believe I was getting what I was paying for. Over the past two years, I grew into it and having to pay each month really motivated me to go work out each week. However, I have recently been faced with the biggest regret yet. For the past 3 weeks, I have been fighting with the ABC Financial company (located in Arkansas) in order to get my membership cancelled because I am moving 1.5 hours away. If I were to get into details, I would have to write a novel in order to sufficiently describe the situation. Just know that I definitely regret signing up with Omni and want to warn everyone to please please please READ ALL THE FINE PRINTS and do some research on ABC Financial before you sign up. ABC Financial is the company who actually takes cares of the billing for Omni. The Omni Club is a decent gym; however, ABC Financial WILL MOST LIKELY TRY TO SCAM YOU. My awful experience trying to get out of my membership is a combination of many of the complaints you will read about. Since I have been a victim of ABC Financial's scam, I really want to give everyone else a fair warning before they sign any contract with Omni. Top of the line in all phases. Clean, repaired and huge. Great classes and staff. Definitely recommend. more

The Omni is an awesome place to work out, multiple machines, very clean, but the staff is EXTREMELY unfriendly except for a couple of people on the huge staff. If you want somewhere that's great to work out, Omni Club is for you, but don't expect ANY customer service. more

Easily the best gym in Athens. Truthfully, I love Athens, but a town this size has no business having a gym like The Omni. They win best gym in Athens, industry awards, etc... and it's obvious why. Clean, repaired, updated with friendly staff. Little busy sometimes, not overcrowded just busy but the new club opening in town should alleviate that one minor complaint. more

It's hard to know what to believe on the internet. I researched gyms before visiting them and found these comments. I decided to visit Omni anyway. SO GLAD I DID! Visited all the other clubs in Athens. This was by far the largest, best equipment, huge class schedule (looked like more than all the others put together) and country club like lockerrooms with towels. The club was spotless, VERY clean in fact the cleanest gym I have ever seen. The huge staff has been more than helpful and welcoming. I even got a free new member coach, yet another feature no one else offered. Easy sign up, no contract membership. So glad I didn't listen to these comments. Probably their jealous competitors posting fake reviews. more

Very impersonal gym, the staff are very snobby, as if they were somehow the "beautiful people"! Not enough classes and the equipment is never whipped down.. Sticky grips that leave unpleasant smells on the hands. There were even clumps of hair and mold in the shower. Please clean.. For the money it requires to go to the Omni, they should take better care of the facilities. more

What a joke! The staff are ditzy and they try to pressure you into spending money. Go elsewhere!I couldn't get any help with the various membership plans. more

DO NOT join this club unless you do month to month. The staff will talk you into the contract, do not do it. I knew that I would be moving 6 months into my contract however I was assured I could cancel my membership with proof of moving. I was not told that this would cost me 20% of my remaining balance as well as a months payment. For me this came to a grand total of $450.60! For a gym that I am no longer using. It's not worth the mark on my credit so I am being forced to pay them. The cancellation fee ($250.61) is included in my contract, the 30 day rule is not. more

Like any business The Omni has it's ups and down but the ups dominate. It's a health club nothing more or less. I joined, used the club for years, cancelled and moved away. Had a solid experience, great facilities and good service. In a small town like Athens, if you know business and economics, then you know there will only be one club like Omni. There will of course then be other smaller, cheaper places with less amenities and services. Omni was my preference. more

Sure you might walk in and be blown away by how nice and big it is. Their calendar certainly seems to have ton of classes.\r \r However, there is a high sales pressure tactic "sign TODAY or you won't get this deal!" that ultimately led me into making a pressured decision.\r \r Their cancellation policy through ABC Financial is ridiculous and tedious. It is a big enough pain to cancel that I would highly recommend to negotiate a month-to-month rate than sign ANY contract. I have paid MUCH more than the difference in month-to-month and contract rate simply by the fees their billing agency charges.\r \r The people at the omni have always been nice (in addition to their high sales pressure), but their billing people/policies are a reflection of the company.\r \r Bodyplex was MUCH easier. more

Just joined last week. I had researched here before joining. I have been a member of many gyms in the past, including others in Athens, but so far these guys are FAR superior. I just wish I would have come here years ago. Absolutely spotless, huge equipment selection, giant class schedule and easy joining process. I highly recommend. more

This is a great gym, but my only caveat was the membership fee. I ended up paying $59 a month since I signed on a month-to-month basis. A one-year contract in $49/month. But you get what you pay for, I guess. You never have to wait for machines, the facility is well maintained (including the locker rooms) and they have lots of classes to choose from. Aside from the high rate, the only other complaint I'd have is that it closes a little too early for me. Other than that, I really loved Omni! more

Former member that just moved back to Athens after a year in San Diego. WOW did I miss my Athens! But I also missed Omni. All of my old buddies are still here: my trainer Leisa, Curtis, Don, Cat,etc.They have incredible employee retention and anyone that knows business knows that's important and says a lot. The club is amazing, as usual, better than anything in San Diego. As far as the best in Athens, don't make me laugh. Re-sign was simple. Glad to be back. more

While there is a lot of equipment to work out on, the cancellation policy and the staff friendliness are factors in my rating. Sometimes you can't even get a parking space b/c they overbook gym membership. Also, I love taking classes and they have cut back their yoga classes and even a lot of the dance and kick classes. Around the holidays they seem especially bad in lack of classes offered but lots of us members are NOT students and we're here through the holidays. Canceling is a tedious and painful process. The personal trainers try to literally bully you into paying extra for their services and try to make you feel EXTREMELY guilty when you don't. When I told one I couldn't afford extra fees he wanted to go over my finances with me to show me how I was blowing $$ on other things that I could use on him. Call me fat and irresponsible w/ my $$ all in one sitting why don't u? more

Excellent facilities, lots of good classes, and good personal trainers. However, several of the male employees behind the counter displayed exceptionally poor customer service on a number of occassions - either by ignoring us completely or failing to help us when requested. Also, you need to be VERY vigilant when discussing membership plans with the staff - my wife and I were told by a staff member before we signed a contract that we could cancel our payment plan (with penalty) if we decided to leave the club before our membership was up. When time came for us to leave, they refused to allow us to cancel our membership early, regardless of whether we paid the early cancellation penalty. So, if you do join, know that it is near impossible to cancel your membership early (only if you can prove via several pieces of documentation that you have moved to an address many miles away from any OMNI site) and that you'll be stuck paying $50 a month. I'd recommend BodyPlex over the OMNI beca more

The Omni Club is hands down the nicest gym in Athens, and they offer a separate room for women to use. There is no reason to feel self conscious while working out. Also, if you have a child in the childcare room- there are closed-circuit TVs so you can see your child to make sure he/she is ok! more

Omni is an awesome gym- a million machines with TVs, and great classes with fun teachers (try dance aerobics with Lori!) make it a great workout. The ladies' locker room with massage chairs, a huge plasma TV, sauna, steam room, plenty of nice showers and blow dryers and straighteners make it convenient and relaxing. I've heard the men's room has a pool table. There's no excuse not to get in shape! more
