Want a Hyundai? Go anywhere else! 5/21/2012

Let me start by saying, if I could give 0 stars, I would. Actually I'd give negative stars but I can't so they get 1 star too many. I initially went to the dealership with my aunt the weekend before to help her look at the Genisis coupe and the new Velostar. The salesman we talked with was great, very helpful, knowledgeable and seemed like a genuine nice person. So I went back to see the Accents they had in stock, as I needed to trade in my gas guzzler and get a new car with good fuel economy. First mistake- We didn't get the saleman we had seen with my Aunt. But we check out the cars and test drive one. It's nice and fits the bill so we start the negotiations... First offer they come back with is $420/month... for an Accent..... WTF. Apparently I look like an idiot. I just about walked out right there. But the saleman asked what we needed it to be. I told him a lot lower, like half that. So he goes and comes back with another number, $310/month. Nope, still too high, I don't know what kind of APR they were trying to stick me with but it had to have been up there. After another round of talking to the finance managers, I ask about the military discount they offer, as I have 4 years in the Army Reserves and another 4 on my contract. He asks and comes back and lets me know I don't qualify for the discount, you have to have 4 years active duty. (I guess Hyundai doesn't consider you military unless it's your full time job. Interesting considering the Reserves deploy just as often as active duty...) So I say ok and leave it at that. The saleman gives me and my wife time to talk about it and think. After a couple minutes he comes in and tells me the finance manager would push the military discount through to get the deal made. I'll just need to bring in my DD214 for them to make a copy of. We decide to buy the vehicle and go to the back to sign the papers. While signing and going through the papers my military career is brought up and Tom (F&I manager) asks me if I have 4 years active duty, I tell him no, 4 in the reserves. He tells me Sh, don't say that again. He'll have to make some phone calls to get it through but he can do it. We finish up signing the papers and drive back home in the new car. So a few days pass and I stop by to drop off the copy of my DD214 like they requested. They take the copy and I'm on my way. 30 minutes later, the general sales manager, Chris Thomas, calls me on my cell phone. He abruptly tells me I don't qualify for the military discount and I need to come by with a check for $500. (the massive discount they give our military) I let him know that it was worked out with the deal my salesman, finance manager and paper work guy and that I already knew I didn't qualify. I told him I would come by the dealership the next day and talk with my salesman and get it straightened out. He then told me ""You were just trying to pull a fast one on our dealership, come by the dealership and have a check for $500."" I was FURIOUS. Me and my wife drove directly back over to the dealership. After talking to another general manager and explaining the initial deal to him, I was told to go home, relax, enjoy the weekend we'll get it taken care of and I'll call you. I haven't received a call back, I haven't even gotten an apology for the incredible lack of customer service and dignity or the fact I was called a liar and basically a thief. I will NEVER spend another cent with this sh*thole dealership. If I have any need for warranty work, I will go to any other dealership but them. I would gladly drive 100 miles in the opposite direction then go there again. If you want something other then a complete train wreck of a car buying experience, DON'T GO TO NORTHWEST HYUNDAI! more

Poor Experience 12/19/2011

I visited this dealership b/c it is considered a preferred dealer by my bank. I met with a salesman and identified a car online that I was interested in. We reviewed the make, model, and price of the car and I was very clear about what I had hoped to spend on the car. The salesman offered to pick up the car that I wanted from their sister dealership. I waited around for @ an hour for the car to arrive to test drive it. The car was what I wanted so I went in to close the deal or so I thought. When we sat to handle the paperwork, there were two prices written on the sales sheet and neither was the price that we had previously discussed. The first price was two thousand dollars above the internet price and the second was one thousand above the internet price. After mentioning this to the salesman, he commented that I was wrong to which i responded by asking that we view the internet invoice again and we did. Well wouldn't you know it, I was right. The salesmans went to speak with the finance manager and came back to tell me that the price on the internet was wrong so I wouldn't be able to purchase the car for that price. Now, I had a copy of the invoice that he gave me in addition to his word. I explained that I was not wavering in my decision to stay at a certain price point. The salesman actually told me that he went all the way to another dealership to pick up the car as if it was my fault that the ""mistake"" happened. The finance manager came to meet with me after I stated that I was leaving. He asked me to go over the experience and let me know what could be done to have my business. I responded by saying, offer me the car as previously discussed to which he responded, it's not going to happen at the price you want. He then went on to say that he could offer me a lower model car with an upgrade package at the same price. I was dumbfounded. Really??? Needless to say, I walked out. I received a survey call on Sunday and a call from the internet manager today. Again, I went over the experience with him and he then went to talk with the owner Mr. Peoples. He came back and offerd me the car at @ @665 over the price that the finance manager offered before I left on Saturday. I gave him the finance managers name and he promised to talk to him and call me back. Well he did call me back only to say that the finance manager did not recall quoting me that price. At that point, I was serioulsy like, this is not happening. Bottom line, I suggest you visit a different Hyundai dealer. In my opinion, this entire experince is rated as an F experience. I am not sure if they thought I was clueless or just plain dumb but I didn't appreciate how I was treated. Oh, I forgot the best part. I already have a fully funded check to purchase a vehicle. it's approved for twice the cost of the vehicle. The salesman said that I would need to pay $500 down to cover TT&L even though my financing was double the cost of the car. WTH?? I followed up with my bank today and they said that I should not have been asked to pay anything. I agree with an earlier comment. Go to Sterling McCall. I visited them today and they were super nice. They didn't have the car that I wanted however they are trying to find one for me. Good Luck in your search for a new car. -Opera more

Best Car Buying Experience Ever 3/22/2011

I hate buying cars so when my old car died, I dreaded having to go buy a new one. Started with internet research. North Freeway Hyundai's website is the best. Very informative and easy to navigate. My salesman was not pushy and he put up with my incessant questions. Narrowed it down to 2 cars and they let me take one home overnight so I could make up my mind. Came back the next day and wrapped it up. Very professional people from the salesman to the finance guy to the manager who gave me his card with his cell number in case I needed anything. Best car buying experience ever. So good that I even took time to write a review which I never do. North Freeway Hyundai will get my family's business from now on. more

liars!!! 11/24/2010

they offer a boat or tv ""free"" with purchase what they dont tell you is that they are crap and that you are actually paying for the junk in the price of the car there are no negotiations even though i found a better price at sterling mccall hyundai and i would save money by buying the car at sterling mccall and then buying the tv separately. So that is what i did. STERLING MCCALL IS GREAT much more professional, honest and caring. the sales people at north freeway were very rude when i asked questions and said i should just take it or leave it and didn't answer my questions they are just in it for a sale not for customer satisfaction Horrible experience. Save your self some time and money BUY at sterling mccall hyundai more

Great Experience 12/12/2009

This is the first review I have ever written. I decided to do it because of my recent car buying experience. I used the Internet to do my research before I went in to buy my Sonata. I looked at the websites of all the Hyundai dealers in Houston and North Freeways was the only one that provided substantial details. North Freeway Hyundais website shows every single option on every car they have in inventory, it shows the MSRP, the rebates and their discounted internet price! All this without even talking to a salesman! It turns out they were as easy to do business with in person as online! I strongly recommend North Freeway Hyundai and the Sonata.? Pros: Courteous, Huge Selection, Great Prices Cons: They were a long drive for me more

Not A good place to shop for an AUTO 9/24/2009

My wife and I were told by the sales staff we were pre-\r approved for a loan in my name;instead, they submitted\r my wife's information to creditors and cursed me for asking why . A salesman threatened to break my leg in our car door for trying to leave. \r That wasnot enough for them. They slandered and discredited my wife and I by calling the only approval with the bank--being........\r Bank one indirect ,( approvals with two other dealers).\r The sales manager said,"" I will see all your other approvals will be denied"". I went to another dealer and found out the approvals were rescinded. Not only are they unprofessional but they are vindictive if they can't get the sale. \r Pros: Nothing positive Cons: The sales staff lied about an loan approval more
