Want a Hyundai? Go anywhere else! 5/21/2012

Let me start by saying, if I could give 0 stars, I would. Actually I'd give negative stars but I can't so they get 1 star too many. I initially went to the dealership with my aunt the weekend before to help her look at the Genisis coupe and the new Velostar. The salesman we talked with was great, very helpful, knowledgeable and seemed like a genuine nice person. So I went back to see the Accents they had in stock, as I needed to trade in my gas guzzler and get a new car with good fuel economy. First mistake- We didn't get the saleman we had seen with my Aunt. But we check out the cars and test drive one. It's nice and fits the bill so we start the negotiations... First offer they come back with is $420/month... for an Accent..... WTF. Apparently I look like an idiot. I just about walked out right there. But the saleman asked what we needed it to be. I told him a lot lower, like half that. So he goes and comes back with another number, $310/month. Nope, still too high, I don't know what kind of APR they were trying to stick me with but it had to have been up there. After another round of talking to the finance managers, I ask about the military discount they offer, as I have 4 years in the Army Reserves and another 4 on my contract. He asks and comes back and lets me know I don't qualify for the discount, you have to have 4 years active duty. (I guess Hyundai doesn't consider you military unless it's your full time job. Interesting considering the Reserves deploy just as often as active duty...) So I say ok and leave it at that. The saleman gives me and my wife time to talk about it and think. After a couple minutes he comes in and tells me the finance manager would push the military discount through to get the deal made. I'll just need to bring in my DD214 for them to make a copy of. We decide to buy the vehicle and go to the back to sign the papers. While signing and going through the papers my military career is brought up and Tom (F&I manager) asks me if I have 4 years active duty, I tell him no, 4 in the reserves. He tells me Sh, don't say that again. He'll have to make some phone calls to get it through but he can do it. We finish up signing the papers and drive back home in the new car. So a few days pass and I stop by to drop off the copy of my DD214 like they requested. They take the copy and I'm on my way. 30 minutes later, the general sales manager, Chris Thomas, calls me on my cell phone. He abruptly tells me I don't qualify for the military discount and I need to come by with a check for $500. (the massive discount they give our military) I let him know that it was worked out with the deal my salesman, finance manager and paper work guy and that I already knew I didn't qualify. I told him I would come by the dealership the next day and talk with my salesman and get it straightened out. He then told me ""You were just trying to pull a fast one on our dealership, come by the dealership and have a check for $500."" I was FURIOUS. Me and my wife drove directly back over to the dealership. After talking to another general manager and explaining the initial deal to him, I was told to go home, relax, enjoy the weekend we'll get it taken care of and I'll call you. I haven't received a call back, I haven't even gotten an apology for the incredible lack of customer service and dignity or the fact I was called a liar and basically a thief. I will NEVER spend another cent with this sh*thole dealership. If I have any need for warranty work, I will go to any other dealership but them. I would gladly drive 100 miles in the opposite direction then go there again. If you want something other then a complete train wreck of a car buying experience, DON'T GO TO NORTHWEST HYUNDAI! more
