Not up to norm 4/7/2012

As usual, the bar atmosphere is great, the food great but the wait staff was a little to desire. After moving from the bar to a table, we had one waitress that did half the order taking...then another appeared to complete w/o knowing what we already told the first. We ordered drinks twice and only received one round....the other at bar and tried to give to us after the check was delivered & paid for....& I did ask. I ate 1/2 the filet, which was great & cooked perfectly, and asked to have boxed up. She threw it away and when I questioned shrugged her sholder and said, Oh well. We have been going to NHC for the last two years and this is the first time I have received this type of service. Someone needs to manage the floor better, train the wait staff on how to properly wait tables in a fine dining establishment...and get them to listen.\r \r We will be back, but was dissapointed last night (4/6/12)\r Michael more

Disappointed 7/24/2011

I've been here several times but only went last night because I was invited by a friend. The reasons that I don't come all came together last night at dinner. The service was mediocre at best. Also, I never will understand why they stopped serving bread ... although the waiter said they save $40,000 a year. Is it worth the bad feelings that your customers have to save the money? I usually order a salad. A roll just seems to be an important addition to the salads enjoyment. We used a coupon and understood that they would add on the gratuity but when the bill came he had added 20% not 18% like the coupon said. I always tip high when service is good and I resent having to tip on mediocre service. So, mediocre service, no bread and forced gratuity. The bad feelings ruined the fact that the food was good. more

A very disappointing experience 3/23/2011

As we have had numerous good experiences at this restaurant over the years, I decided to treat my friend for lunch for her birthday.\r \r Our hostess was friendly enough, and the setting is great, but the waiter left much to be desired. I have noticed him in action previously, and wonder why this restaurant continues to employ this condescending individual who treats his guests with such disdain. He needs to remember that without what would appear he found to be very irritating people, he would not be earning a salary. He could have been the maitre d as he kept on getting involved with things our waitress was doing and messing them up totally. Not only did we have to deal with this, but also very mediocre food, and never before have I seen a restaurant so stingy on their wine servings. They charged us at least $7 per glass of wine which was in fact a thrid of a glass of wine! Honestly, don't waste your time or money.\r more

Terrible Experience all Around! 3/23/2010

I honestly hate to write a bad review and I have maybe only written 2 reviews total in my life, but this afternoon/evenings experience called for me to sit down and write one. My Boyfriend whom is a chef and myself visited this resteraunt today and were greeted by the hostess with the most awful disposition we were treated like bums, I suppose cause of our casual dress. We sat down for a moderately expensive meal and had a waiter who treated us like young paupers, as we watched the party all in buisness suits be greeted by the owner and waiter in a warm and timely manner.\r The food was mediocre at best..and that is giving it some credit...meat overdone, pasta overdone, drink watered down and then to finish it all off it was around $60 and the comment card in the sleeve with our check had someone elses order written on it. Pathetic as far as I'm concerned overpriced, snooty, and bland to say the least!!!!!!!! Pros: view Cons: service, service, atmosphere, hostess, food more

Wonderful dining experience with 13 12/8/2009

We booked the private dining room for a party of 13. We are a wonderful experience and the food was delicious. We have just moved to town and it was high on our list of places to visit. It was just as hoped. GIve it a try and I don't think you will be disappointed! Pros: Quick service, food prepared with perfection more

Wonderful dining experience on the lake 3/28/2009

My wife & I shared a delicious bowl of vegetable soup as an appetizer. We also each ordered the filet mignon special which was more than outstanding. Each was presented artfully and cooked to perfection. We shared a bottle of merlot during the meal and ordered a delicious carmelized creme brulee for dessert. The meal was reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. Anyone complaining about the prices here should just get a Big Mac, Coke & fries. Pros: excellent service, dinner, soup, dessert & ambiance more

Greatest Brine Pork Chops 8/30/2008

My husband always get this same meal every time we go there. He is absolutely in love with this dinner. I have had a numer of different entrees and have never been disappointed. Great Outdoor atomosphere. Serever was great inspite of getting checks mixed up with our other twosome. Great place to pick up a boat ride if you do not have one of your own. more

Great atmospere with really average food 8/2/2008

Nice atmosphere but they really need a good cook. The prices are not reflected in the quality of the food.\r Lots of fluff with no supstance. Pros: Ambience is great Cons: Very average food more

Excellent food, excellent setting, bad server 7/13/2008

This is a highly rated restaurant. Out of my party, I was the only one who had not been to this restaurant yet. I like to think I am current w/ all good eating places and I am was very excited to try this place as I have heard sooo many good things about it. Unfortunately the server DID NOT put in our order and supposedly ""lost our ticket."" After 3 parties that were sat after us, ate and left, and we realized we had been sitting there w/ half full glasses for an hour, we were concerned. We were brought an appetizer, at our server's discretion, in concilation. Our food was comped and we were appreciative to the managers who tried to reconcile our bad experience. To our disgust, we were avoided like the plague by our server. Bottom line, if a mistake is made, just be honest with us and we will understand. Be polite, professional, curteous, appreciative, and tactful, and you should be tipped appropriately. Soooo if you are looking for a place to treat you as we were treated, then try North Harbor. Pros: Everything from the food to the view Cons: the service more

Can't see what all the complaining is about. 10/28/2007

Being a Lake area resident we have been to the NH Club 4-5 times. While we experienced the slow service one time when the main dinning room had been reserved by a group of 75, usually (including today) it's been very good. This is my first time writing a review so bear with me. Sunday brunch, called in a 12:30 reservation at 9:00am same day, no problem. Showed up 15 minutes late, took us maybe 10 minutes to be seated. very courteous hostess. Main dining area was 75-85% full, outside was the same. \r My family, 4, my wife and I and twin 8yo girls. Brittney was our server, came to us with water in less that 2 minutes. Took our drink order, BM for me, Mimosa for my wife, milks for the girls (in real people glasses as requested by the little ones). Having been here before, ordering was done with the drink order.\r Eggs Benedict for me, Shrimp and Grits for my wife (she can't get make herself get anything else), French Toast for twin A (again she can't bring herself to order anything else) and Butter Noodles for twin B (she's not a big B-Fast eater). Ordered a side of bacon for the little ones. Plus we always order cut up tomato for each of the girls, they love them and no problem with the special order. Also need to mention I had a buy one get one free from the local clipper mag, again...not a problem. Drinks came in less than 5 minutes, food in about 10-15 minutes. Bacon side was missing, mentioned it, got an apology and a side of bacon showed up in less than 5 minutes. Ordered another round of drinks, same speed and consistency. Not too weak or too strong. Everyone enjoyed their choice's. Twin A had more FT than she could eat, Food at least 4.5 stars. Ending up bill came to $68.00, Brittney forgot to take off one of the meal with the coupon, BIG apology and quickly corrected without any need for management. BTW coupon users need to remember that tip should be calculated on the total BEFORE the item is deducted. NHC is a bit pricey, $6.50 mimosa. We'll keep going.\r Pros: Great food, view, atmosphere Cons: A bit pricey more

This place is a waste of space and a view 9/1/2007

Bad customer service, food over priced, with 8 people at our table only 3 orders came out half way correct and everyone else had to eat what they got. The waitress didn't listen to anything anyone said. She never asked if there was anything else she could get us after putting the wrong orders in front of us, she just walked off. We had to flag another waitress for assistants and even then we still never got what we needed. The food is way over priced, especially for breakfast for what you get and how it is presented. Pros: The view Cons: Everything! more

Complete Disrespect for Customers! 4/2/2007

A group of co-workers and I had lunch at North Harbor Club last week and I was appalled at the blatent disrespect of customers that the manager on duty showed us. Honoring a simple lunch coupon could have (and should have) earned several faithful patrons. Instead however, each of these 10 folks will likely tell 20 more people about the horrible experience and now you've potentially lost 200 customers. I hope a $10 lunch was worth that Mr. Manager. For a restaurant with a lovely view and a nice menu, it's a shame that poor customer service overshadows both. Very disappointing. Pros: Lovely view on the patio Cons: Horrendous customer service! more

Very Disappointing! 3/30/2007

This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write a restaurant review. I loved the former North Harbor Cafe; however, the new and improved (not) North Harbor Club has been a huge disappointment. My previous two visits (the first at my suggestion, the second at a friend's) had not been up to par. Today, though, I witnessed the poorest customer service one could imagine. In my opinion, the service is average at best, the food is overpriced, and the general customer service attitude is extremely poor. There are many restaurant choices in the Lake Norman area. For me, North Harbor Club has moved to the bottom of the list. Pros: Waterfront Cons: Poor customer service more

Don't ever eat at the North Harbor Club! 3/30/2007

My recommondation-don't bother going to the North Harbor Club. What a shame, the restaurant itself is a very pretty lakeside restaurant. The problem- staff and management who do not care if anyone ever eats there a second time! My work friends and I planned a nice lunch out all week and decided to try the North Harbor Club. There were about ten of us so we had them fax us a menu so that we could order in advance to save them some trouble. First off the waiter brought me the incorrect meal. When I told him it was not what I ordered, he said ""that's too bad, you had an old menu"". My friend said ""you sent us this menu earlier this week"", he shrugged. Another person tried to use a discount coupon. The manager came over and said he didn't want to hear about coupons, he would not take it. When my friend said that discourages people from coming, he said he did not care, his business was just fine the way it was. So if you would like to be treated with courtesy or even like a paying customer, do not eat at the North Harbor Club. Pros: Great view Cons: Horrible service more

Poor customer service. Manager neither appreciates nor respects patrons. 3/30/2007

I had the opportunity to visit North Harbor Club for the first time today. And the last time today. With the ever-growing number of retaurants competing for the same dollar I would expect a better level of service. The old saying that ""A fish rots from the head down"" has never been more appropriate than at the North Harbor Club. I went with a group of co-workers to try this restaurant for lunch. With lunch prices starting near the $10.00 mark I thought it would be a great opportunity to use a coupon i had in the Casual Dining book. A coupon that North Harbor Club promotes to draw customers. I was told that it could not be used if the checks were to be separated. What? Did the manager try to accomodate?, NO!, Did the manager listen to my concerns?, NO!, instead he said that his restaurant does not need large parties nor do they want them to use any type of coupon. I can definitely find other places to eat. Lesson learned. The fish rotted from the head on this experience and I will not be back nor will anyone I have the opportunity to share my experience with in the future. Pros: Food was good Cons: Service and Management interaction was poor more

The worest experience ever!!!! 11/10/2006

The worst experience ever!!!\r \r I just returned from dinner at North Harbor. I never write reviews but this place was so terrible that I had to run home and warn others! The atmosphere is nice, and the food is okay (but very overpriced). The service on the other hand is horrendous!\r My husband and I had reservations and we were sat promptly upon arriving. However, we did not see our server for water or drink orders for a good 10 minutes. Once she finally waited on us we waited another 10 minutes for drinks. \r Our server then proceeded to bring us the wrong dinner orders. Once she corrected our orders and we had finished our meals she brought us the incorrect bill. Once she corrected the bill we gave her our check card and she came back and told us it had been declined!?!?! I was outraged, so I called my bank to confirm that I had 100x what the bill was in my checking account. She finally figures out that she had used my card for another parties table and used their declined card for my husbands and my bill.\r \r Do not waste your money, this place can not shut down fast enough!\r \r P.S. Their sanitation score is awful for a establishment with prices this high.\r Cons: Service, Price more

Inviting atmosphere inside; great setting outside 6/26/2006

Almost two different restaurants between the dockside seating outside (very casual) and the warmer, more upscale feel inside. Our two times there--both within the last 3 months--we sat inside and have been very satisified. Food quality and service was very good. Menu is diverse enough to please everyone. Deserts were also good. Might seem a tad expensive, but if you split an appetizer or get a salad plus entree and don't ring-up a rediculous bar tab (like I do) then its reasonable considering the overall dining experience. Pros: Ambience (inside seating), menu, food quality; surprisingly kid friendly (although not a place I would bring babies or toddlers who want to roam). Cons: Might be slightly $$$ especially if you keep the bartender busy more

Why all the buzz? 9/19/2005

I have been to North Harbor several times ordering different dishes and I do not understand why folks like the food here. Classic case of sounds good but is disappointing. If you have a buy one get one free coupon, which this area is great for, go ahead and see for yourself. The best part about the place is the bar. If you are looking for a nice place for dinner on the lake, think again - the patio is about 50 feet from I-77 so its quite loud outside. more

Great Time 6/24/2005

Was very impressed by this place. A friend recommended it to us and we loved it. Service was wonderful and food was great. Not like a typical chain restaurants, or like any other of the restaurants in the area that are all the same. Pros: Food Quality, Knowledgable Server, Great View more

Excellent Dining Experience 5/18/2005

This restaurant on the shores of Lake Norman has a tremendous ambiance as well as excellent food and service. Our waiter, Sammy did a fine job and remembered our order from a vist 6 weeks ago. Amazing!! Love it here! Pros: Food, Ambiance, Service more
