I am a big fan of the Burger Joint, and I have been to Norma's a number of times for business breakfasts. The service is always slow to non-existent, but my experience on Saturday topped it all. After being seated at 2pm (not exactly the height of the brunch rush), no one even came to our table for 10 minutes. After the parade of 10 minute waits between the water server, the orange juice server, and the coffee server, I finally flagged down the host and asked that someone come to our table to take our order (we'd been in our seats for a total of about 40 minutes by this point). We ordered the extremely complicated eggs benedict and mushroom omelet. 45 minutes and 5 glasses of orange juice later, we realized that it was 3:30 and we had neither received our food nor seen our waiter since he took our order. Annoyed that our plans for the afternoon were almost completely ruined, we stood to leave. Low and behold, the second we stood with our things, the waiter appeared! He begged us to stay and told us that he had spoken to the manager, who would ""take care of everything."" I told him that we had afternoon plans and had not intended to spend so long waiting. Another gentlemen then showed up with our food, put it on the table, and practically pushed us to sit down and eat. Against my better judgment, I did. I asked for the check immediately, explaining our rush. Another 30 minutes (and disappearing waiter, manager, or anyone inclined to acknowledge our presence), the bill came. Not one item had been comped by management, and when I asked to speak to the manager, I was told that he was unavailable. I don't mind splurging on a $65 brunch, but this one was insulting. There are too many fantastic restaurants in the city to waste your time and patience on an establishment that does not realize that the economy is not its friend right now. I could get more attentive service at Burger Heaven - the next time, I'll suffer their over-priced meals instead.
Pros: Good location
Cons: Horrible service, poorly managed
