Cute space, but come on! $4 for bad coffee??!! The food was decent, but really overpriced. What we need in NYC is a good ole' International House of Pancakes (aka IHOP). Until...

Make a reservation and go 7/17/2007

I've been here several times and never been disappointed. The breakfast menu's extensive and the only con about this place is the dilemma faced when ordering. I've had Norma's eggs benedict, the pancakes, and flat crab cake - all were scrumptious. Servings are generous and even though prices might be on the higher side it's well worth the splurge. My only qualm was that during my last visit the service significantly lacked; we sat waiting to order for what seemed like forever until finally I had to grab someones attention - my prior visit wasn't like that. All in all the food's superb - I'll be back, again and again.... Pros: Food Cons: Service is inconsistent more

What a way to start the day! 7/9/2007

What a terrific meal. There were so many things on the menu we wanted to try. We decided on the mango/papya crepes and fruit filled waffles. I can not describe how delicious it was. Ingredients were very fresh. Terrific, attentive, helpful, lighthearted service. Pros: Delicious food, large selection Cons: Pricey more

BEST BREAKFAST IN NYC!!! 6/6/2007

The title explains it all!!! Highly recommended for a special occasion. Unique menu items and service with a smile. Reservations are preferred especially if you plan on going on Saturday or Sunday (1hr+ wait is standard!) The Blueberry panacakes are to die for as well as the Banana Macadamia Nut pancakes. If your a chocolate lover try the decadence french toast. I return whenever I'm in the area. Pros: Amazing and delicious menu items Cons: long wait for a table more

Just OK... 2/22/2007

Had 10:30 reservations, waited til 11 to be seated. The food so-so, but maybe it was the selections (banana macadamia nut flap jacks and waffling toast)...both were way too sweet...the breakfast quesadilla looked good (although i could only smell it from the neighbors table)...I'm glad I went, just to say i've been, but I won't be back...but then again, I suppose $60 breakfasts aren't an everyday occasion... Pros: service, portions Cons: $$$$ more

Great food, but that's about it... 1/6/2007

I heard great things about Normas and waited a month to get a reservation. The food was great, and I could have tried anything on the menu, but I was disappointed to find out they didn't have a bar (no mimosas??) and there was no atmosphere at all. Pros: Food Cons: Ambience, no mimosas or bloody marys more

wouldn't recommend 12/19/2006

This was my first trip to NYC and to Norma's . We made reservations a month ahead of time so I was really excited about going. I was extremely disappointed though because our service was TERRIBLE. Our waiter didn't speak English so it was impossible to ask any questions about items on the menu. I asked for a second glass of water which I never received. Our food was ok nothing special. I ordered hazelnut crepes with fruit. They were cold when they brought them so the hazelnut filling was already hard instead of being wam and spread out. We complained to a manager that could have cared less after waiting for over 20 minutes for our checks. I would not recommend this restaurant and I would never go back. Pros: interesting items on the menu Cons: expensive, terrible service more

Over hyped and over priced for this type of food 11/29/2006

We enjoy fine dining and great food but this is not the place to get it. My husband and I went there for breakfast and our bill was $80 after tips. All we ordered were ONE waffle, one scrambled egg and an order of french toast. They decorated the food and made it look REALL pretty but everything tasted like it was cooked in butter. Rich people dont mind paying if it was on company account but waffle was like $17 for ONE WAFFLE! I rather pay more money for REAL fine dining food, not breakfast. Pros: breakfast looks ""pretty"" Cons: too over priced for not so great normal tasting food more

Greatest eggs benedict 11/27/2006

Norma's Eggs Benedict is the best breakfast I have ever had...my husband and I spent a long weekend in the city, went to all kinds of fabulous restaurants for dinner, but this was the meal that we were raving to everyone about. Was back in the city with a friend, and she enjoyed it just as much. Great service, delicious food, great atmosphere. Make reservations if you can--the wait can be long, but it's definitely worth it. more

Greek diners do better 11/5/2006

We were immensely disappointed. The dishes were cold by the time they arrived. There is nothing that is worth noting about its taste. After the meal, I appreciate the unpretentious Greek diners that serve breakfasts. They are fast and honest. more

BEST brunch 11/3/2006

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We shared the egg-white frittata (one of the best omelletes we have ever tasted) and the french toast with fresh berries (to die for). We had a reservation and were sat immediatly. Expensive brunch ($6 cup of coffee)... but great for a special occasion and well worth it! The restaurant is slightly cluttered- but it's fun to see what all the dishes look like (they are all prepared so beautifully that you see everyone taking out their cameras). We can't wait to go back and try the pancakes and waffles! Pros: Best Brunch Cons: Cluttered, Expensive more

Best Brunch ever 11/2/2006

The brunch is unlike any other. You will go and be blown off your feet. The artichoke eggs benedict is amazing. So are the huevos rancheros. They even give you complimentary mini smoothie cups to try. I can't wait to have an excuse to go back! Pros: brunch Cons: atmosphere isn't spectacular more

Great breakfast 9/10/2006

This was our second visit to Normas for breakfast. This time we were smart enough to make a reservation. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly. Service was pleasant and attentive. They start off with a complimentary smoothie which was so yummy. Everything we ordered was excellent. We especially loved the banana pancakes. The lox was also very good. We all left full and happy! more

Best Brunch! 9/4/2006

I'm a regular here. Their brunch menu is great, with lots of selections. The food looks pretty and tasts great. It's a bit pricy but the portion is huge, more than enough. They usually give customers a small complementary glass of smoothy, which is very declicious! The line is long, so reserve early. Pros: Delicious food and coffee, fresh OJ Cons: crowded on weekends, long wait more

Awful 9/2/2006

Went this afternoon for brunch w/ my husband. We both had never been here but heard good things. We had a reservation and only had to wait about 5 min for our table...no problem. We sit and the waiter took our drink order...at least that's what my husband told me as I could not hear one word he said. I asked for a mamosa, and I was told they do not serve alcohol. I found this very strange, but no big deal. So we ordered and the food was taking a while. Mind you it is now after 2PM and I have yet to eat anything so I was really hungry. I noticed other people had a deliciously looking bread basket, and when I asked our waiter if we could have bread he said no. So I said, other people have it, and he said it's b/c they ordered eggs and just looked at me annoyed instead of offering us some bread even as an extra side. So I ordered the Norma's benedict, normal except instead of an eng. muffin it had buttermilk pancakes...yum, right. WRONG, they were not buttermilk they were lemon and completley disgusting. Had it said on the menu lemon I would not have ordered it. When I told the waiter I didn't like it b/c it was lemon he made a face at me and acted very annoyed. My husband ordered the monte cristo sandwich which came with a very spicy mustard on it that also was not listed on the menu. We did not eat our dishes and asked for the check. They rest of the staff was not helpful or nice. We live in the city and go to brunch often and we have never received service as bad as this. We will NEVER return. Cons: Service, atmosphere & inaccurate menu more

Great food, good music, stylish staff!! 8/3/2006

Norma's was a great experience, it was my first time and I was pleasantly surprised! more

good and tasty 8/2/2006

I have been to Norma's twice and ecah time I left the place with a happy stomach. Everything I have tasted so far has been very delicious (from eggs to pancakes). My favourite meal of the day 's breakfast and this plave makes it all. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes. more

TALK about FANTASTIC! 7/28/2006

WOW is the first word that comes to mind when talking about Norma's. After finally choosing banana-macadamia nut pancakes (a Hawaiian favorite of mine) after being unable to decide between 4 or 5 dishes that all sounded spectacular, I sat back and enjoyed the (complementary) tall shot glass of the smoothie of the day. As is expected if you're going to pay $7 for a glass, the orange juice was fantastic (and free refills!... also expected, haha) and freshly squeezed that day. The decor is very classy and modern, and there are pretty single flowers on each table. Then the food came... the pancakes were so good that no words I can express will do them justice. They had caramelized bananas mixed in the batter and had a wonderful texture and were just bursting with flavor. The walnuts and macadamia nuts on top were excellent with the pancakes, although I was less crazy about the brown sugar butter (but granted, I don't like ANY kind of butter on pancakes/waffles/french toast). But absolutely fantastic pancakes, and every other dish I saw looked incredible as well. Expensive, yes ($30 breakfast with juice), but definitely worth it (at least once...). There are a lot of little kids in the restaurant early on the weekend mornings though, just so you know, so it can get a little loud if one of them enters a sudden fit of tears/screaming. Pros: AWESOME juice, smoothies, & breakfast more

best breakfast in nyc~!! 7/23/2006

norma's has consistently been the best breakfast experience in nyc. i love coming here when i'm in town! from the minute you walk in the door, you're greeted with a friendly smile and the staff is well trained. you can't ask for any more - this is not your corner diner. everything from the food to service is delivered with perfection. for instance, i sat next to this couple who experienced problems with their food and the asked to speak to a manager. a young lady approached the table and she somehow managed to calm them down and assured them that everything would be taken care of - boy oh boy, were they the happiest customers in the world! props to norma's management. can't wait to see them again! Pros: creative and unique dishes, great service, friendly atmosphere Cons: morbid music more

Worth every penny... 7/15/2006

Some of the reviews mention that this place is pricey...WRONG! Let's break this down. Excellent ambience, good ambience, excellent presentation, servings large enough to serve two people (and I'm a 220lb. fitness fanatic, so believe me), quality ingredients...you can't go wrong. more
