Nirvana Aveda Concept Salon

Having just moved to Los Gatos and having to sift through literally dozens of salons in this town, I stumbled upon Nirvana Aveda Concept Salon. Raymond was recommended to me over the phone and could not have been more pleased. He really took his time to listen and make awesome suggestions. Everyone there was very welcoming. With so many salons to choose from, I will be back! more

A positive to start. I did walk out really liking my high lights & the girl who did my hair was Kristin & she was super nice & looked like a model. She was great at the hightlights & head massage too. \r \r I was a new client & have just moved to the area. I looked them up on the Aveda website. I have been using Aveda salons exclusivley for about 6 years. I had a position that had me travel the US & Aveda's were in every city I went. \r \r I just moved to the area & can have a consistent salon finally. I went into Nirvanna & one of the first things the receptionist told me when she confirmed I was new was that my hair would NOT BE BLOW DRYED at the end of my COLOR/HIGHLIGHTS!!! I thought um because of time? But I scheduled this prior. She said because at that salon they charge extra for a BLOW DRY even with all the services but that if I got a haircut I would get one with that! So in other workds only if I spent like almost $300.00 total! Um that sounds like Hair Masters or Super Cuts crap. I was going to be spending $200.00++(because I have hair to the middle of my back) & would walk out looking like a DOG you have got to be kidding me??!! Keep in mind that I have been to Avedas in propobably 20 different states & tons of different cities! Wow I was shocked! I had planned my salon trip before I had plans so I had NO OTHER choice but to ADD A HAIRCUT....so I would not look crazy as I did not have time to run home & dry it......so stupid! I have never experienced that ever! \r \r My highlight color is amazing! But everyone keeps asking me if I'm wearing extensions though because the top of my hair & the bottom are not in Unision AT ALL. Dark & light & the hair cut long layers does not blend....layers then none at the bottom its weird that they would let me walk out looking like this. I wish she would have put a few in the bottom so it blended. I went to the Chakra Aveda in downtown San Fran & they did that & it was amazing. I would have just went to the San Fran one because the guy named Brandon or Brian did such an amazing job but I figured this time I'd give the one close to my house a shot plus Brandon was out on Maternity leave because his girlfriend had their baby : ( \r \r I have an appointment coming up soon & I think I'm going to cancel because the blow dry thing is such a deal breaker. If that was not there I would probably give them one more shot because the location is so good for me. You all lost a potential long term client who recommends lots of friends. I never write reviews but felt I should on this one so the managers/owners can fix some stuff. It may seem harsh but It's only all the truth. \r \r P.S. I did not know that I could NOT pay my tip on my card. The lady a the desk did apologize for not letting me know ahead of time. I had plans & left feeling so horrible because I did not have time to go to the bank to get money for a tip. Sad. more

I've been getting my hair styled rather than ""cut"" since I was a young teenager. This hasn't always been easy. Finding a place that has experienced hair stylists and know how to cut men's hair is not as straight forward as on might think. If you think that money will solve the problem, you'd be wrong again. A high price does not equate with high quality particularly when considering hair stylists. If you don't know how to cut men's hair, receiving a lot of money for the task will not endow you with the skill to acutally perform the work. Nirvana seems to have solved this dilemma for me. I can get a great style at a reasonable price. Stated simply, it works. I'll be going back, and trying to convince my family members to do the same. more

I aways get a great cut from Kayla. The great cut makes it easy for me to syle my hair at home. I really apapreciate the email appointment reminders and the Sunday Appointments. more

This is my favorite salon ever! They have the best staff and stylists that are so friendly, talented, and naturally nice. I love that it is certified green and doesn't smell like the average perm and nail salon. They offer great color services using Aveda haircolor and also sell only Aveda products. I highly recommend! The whole theme is zen and earth conscious. Discounts for recycling bottle caps, and great products. Stylists really listen to what you want, and offer great advice. They also don't push products, but are helpful if you have questions. Also, the salon doesn't smell like chemicals!! I love it! I found nirvana and Christy because I needed color correction from another salon. Not only did she fix my hair but I havent gone to another salon again. She is great and I love the services they offer. Pros: Always get my hair right and are the best at color. Cons: NONE!!! more

My haircuts with Julina are probably the best haircuts I have ever had. She listens to what you have to say and has some wonderful suggestions for you. She is very knowledgeable and upbeat. Loves to do hair....and it shows... I would recommend and have recommended her to many of my friends and clients... and now I recommend her to anyone reading this...give her a try...you will not be disappointed... more

I like to have my hair short but I do like to change it up every couple of appointments , and I have to say that my stylist Shawna does an amazing job at giving me exactly what I want. I really love Janis. I started going to her about 1.5 years ago and I never went looking for another stylist. The staff is very friendly and the offer you a drink while your waiting. The only draw back for me is that there are too many scents so opt not to have the aroma therapy scalp massage. They are still nice enough to do the massage with out the scents. I love going here to get my hair cut and styled. As soon as I walk in, I am greeted by friendly, smiling faces and offered tea or water while I wait. (They are always on time, I never have to wait long). I love the little personal details that make the experience unique--you receive a complimentary neck and scalp massage and aromatherapy with each hair cut. I've been going to Janis for the past 2 years and I am always happy with my hair cut. She is very friendly, a great listener and a very skilled stylist. I moved from NYC and was looking for a new, modern Aveda concept salon. Nirvana definitely fits the bill! Kayla gave me exactly what I was looking for and helped me with my products. The staff is very helpful and curtious. They give awesome scalp massages which is so relaxing after a long day at work. I came across Nirvana by chance and I am so lucky to have found such a great place! When I moved to the Bay Area, I was looking for a salon but felt stuck. Not only is it hard to leave a good stylist who knows you and has been doing a fantastic job for years, but then I found myself lost when looking for a new one in the area. After some research, I decided to give Nirvana a try. I was booked with Christine, and she did such a wonderful job that I keep coming back! The place is great, everyone is nice, and Christine is VERY talented. I trust her completely. I can see the genuine effort she makes to communicate with me and get a sense for what I want and really cares about doing her very best. I used to go to a different hair salon every time I got my hair cut...until I started going to Christine at Nirvana. I dance hula, so I have to keep my hair long, Christine listens to your needs and sticks with the plan. She never cuts it shorter than I ask her to like other stylists I've been to at other salons. I've been going here for a few years now and Victoria is my regular stylist. She is awesome! The great part is that she is not the only one. When she has been unavailable, I usually see Janis. She's just as awesome! I've also had Shawna and Raymond do my hair and they both did a great job as well. I've gotten to the point where I trust just about anyone here with my hair, and that's saying a lot! Everyone here is very friendly and professional. This salon has a great atmosphere, unlike any other I've ever gone to. The head massage during the shampoo is to die for, and my favorite part of any visit. The complimentary hand massages aren't bad either (that's right Julina)! This is an Aveda salon so they only use Aveda products, which I love. They also offer complimentary beverages (beer, wine, tea) and cookies. I always look forward to every visit and you will too! UPDATE: 11-30-09 Since Victoria recently moved out of the area, my stylist now is Julina. She rocks! Just like all the other stylists there, she does a great job. Although I was very sad to see Victoria go, it was nice to know there was a competent and reliable backup stylist (actually many). It really is the only place I would feel comfortable with just about anybody doing my hair. Very consistent service across the board. Thanks everyone for a great experience every time! Raymond is our family hairdresser..... that's 4 boys and me. We have been going to Nirvana for 18 months since moving to the US, and always had Raymond cut all our hair, and colour mine too. I love Aveda products, great blond colours. Our 3 boys (9,11 and 12yrs) always come out of Nirvana with great styles. A visit to Nirvana in Los Gatos is always enjoyed! The parking lot is great. I drive all the way from san jose just to do my hair for any occassions. I started off with Shawna who was wonderful as well! I received compliments all over the place. She sometimes does not fit into my schedule so Raymond has been doing my hair. When I go out, I get compliments left to right! He knows what he is doing. He will ask me what I will be wearing and come up with the perfect hairstyle. Nirvana is the number one in the silicon valley!!! All the ladies there are so cuteee. They all have their own unique style. Right when you walk in, you know this place has a lot of style. Their service is great. They are all so nice and wonderful!!! Go and try it out for yourself. You have to check out Nirvana Salon!! The salon is very cool and I love all the Aveda products. I have really long thick hair and Laure is a master stylist- I have been going to her for over 16 years!! I always receive great compliments on my style and color. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. It is easy to book your appt on-line and the site will send you an e-mail confirming your appt- love the friendly reminder. . more
