I've been going to Nirvana for over a year and a half and have everything good to say about it. The atmosphere, overall friendliness of everyone there, and there awesome haircuts Shawn gives me, truly makes it a great place to go. I have been to several salons over the past few years since I moved area and didn't find the right one until Nirvana. I enjoy the customer service and the products immensely. I have never had my hair cut short however, I feel that now is the time since the stylists are competent and provide good insight to what works with regards to face shape, texture and time specifications. I look forward to changing my look this weekend! I am nervous but know I am in good hands. more

I have been going to Nirvana Aveda for years now, and I can't say enough great things about it. Everyone that works there is always warm, helpful and extremely nice. I've tried out a few salons in the bay area, and they were regrettable experiences. I was first drawn to aveda since I'm obsessed with green & natural products. Kayla has been doing my hair for the past 5 years, and she is awesome! She always does a great job with my hair and is extremely friendly and warm, she'll always go out of her way to give you the exact color and cut that you want. I'm so impressed with Kayla and Nirvana salon, that I've had several friends and family try them out, and they've all been very happy. I have tried many salons, but I could never find anyone who knew how to color and style my frizzy/curly hair without damaging it until I discovered Terra Nieto at Nirvana. She is an expert at coloring and moisturizing my hair with oils, trimming/cutting my hair, enhancing the curls, and minimizing the frizz. She has given me so many helpful tips for handling my hair. She is amazing. I also love the aromatherapy scalp massage and the salon atmosphere. The Aveda products are gentle and don't contain the harsh chemicals and additives that are contained in the products that other salon's use. Aveda salons are socially and environmentally conscious which is a big plus. more

I have never received so many compliments on my hair then after going to Shawna. I went to Nirvana not knowing what I wanted or how to deal with my thin, lifeless hair. Shawna worked her magic and I was like a new woman. Her cut and color fit me to a T.\r I can even go months (not that I like to, but life gets busy) without a cut and my hair still holds it shape. \r I can't say enough about Shawna and Nirvana. Great Stylist, cool atmosphere, friendly & fun staff, great Aveda perks, love the scalp massage. Can't be beat! more

I've been going to Nirvana since it opened its doors. Why? Laure! Years ago -- Laure permed my hair (they were the style back then) and the result was a natural look. She's helped me adapt over the years to new styles to fit the times and my personal look. She's great and the only stylist I trust. I love the ambiance of Nirvana; from the herbal tea when you enter the doors to the tangerine-scented oil for the scalp massage. Laure and Nirvana help me to feel good and look good. And I love that they are Green! more

Great ambiance and cool stylists. You feel really comfortable as you walk in and greeted. Someone is always willing to help you and greet you as you come in even if the receptionist is not at her desk. \r \r I've been going here for years now and Shawna is my stylist. It's always hard to find a stylist that will listen to your needs and yet opinionated but not overbearing. Always there to give you constructive hair style criticsm, which I appreciate, but not always agree to. However, she does have a way of convincing you and turns out, she is right every time! I was a first timer here a few months back, and after reading over the stylists strong points, chose Christine to help shape my very fine just-past-my-shoulders straight hair. First of all, despite the small size of Nirvana, they are super attentive, and make you feel pampered (can't beat the complimentary wine/beer/champagne!), and I wasn't left waiting long at all. Christine was right on time, introduced herself, and def. took time in finding out what type of style I was seeking, as well as how much work I wanted to put into it! And she took the time to listen to all my rantings, wants, needs, etc. :-)\r \r Overall, she did a great job---and this is nothing on ""her,"" but I wish I would've gone a bit shorter, but b/c of my concern over my straight hair flipping out at the bottom in wierd directions, we went a bit longer and it wasn't completely off my neck. I still loved it, but ended up going to another salon a few weeks later to get it totally off my neckline (a nice more extreme angular cut). Now that I'm over my fear, I'd love to re-visit Christine, and tell her to ""take it all off!"" I'll be in need of a trim again soon, and will def. let her do her work, and not be afraid of going short. The only drawback was that the back room where Christine's station was, was super hot and stuffy (but they were very accomodating when I asked for a bit of AC!). Eileen did my hair and make up recently and I loved how I looked after :). Which, yes, I know it's odd to say that about yourself, but Eileen did a great job. I'm getting married in the next couple of months and this salon will do the hair and make up for myself and my bridal party. Can't wait! I'll update this review after my wedding. The only thing though (very minor) was that even though I emailed them a couple of times, I never got a reply back. So, I just had to call them to get an answer to my question. Otherwise, they're great! more

I found Nirvana on Yelp because I was new to Los Gatos and so didn't have a network of girls (or gay guys) yet to guide me in my quest for a new stylist. I was particularly looking for an Aveda salon because I was finally having reactions to years of chemically processing my hair and wanted to go natural without going au natural (i.e. prematurely grey). \r \r I have been very pleased with my service from two separate stylists there (the first one left between my visits, presumably to move away with her brand new Spanish--I think--husband). Now I see Christy and she is just great. \r \r They even kept a record of all the highlight colors from my first visit! That was great; so I don't have completely different colored hair every couple months. \r \r Oh! and they are all ""green"" --they recycle the foils and donate the hair clippings to a non-profit that uses them to mop up oil spills (do not ask me the mechanics of that). Apparently they've had a complete green remodel which I am about to check out at my appointment tommorrow. more

I aways get a great cut from Kayla. The great cut makes it easy for me to syle my hair at home. I really apapreciate the email appointment reminders and the Sunday Appointments. more

I've been going to Nirvana for over 15 years. As soon as I enter, I immediately relax, with a warm welcome, soothing music, and the offer of a refreshment. Laure never disappoints with both color and cut, and I always go home feeling like a new person. The aromatherapy scalp massage during conditioning is definitely my fave! I Love this Salon! The entire staff is very helpful and friendly. The salon is small, but very classy and has a calming effect. I always feel very relaxed as soon as I walk in. My stylist is Janis, and she does such a great job with my color and cut. I am generally very picky about my color, and Janis is always willing to listen to what I want, and give me just that! The salon also offers a lot of Aveda merchandise, which I absolutely love. All of Aveda's products work well and smell great. I cannot wait to go back for my next appointment.\r I would recommend this salon to anyone living in the San Jose area. more

I have been going to Nirvana for over 9 years, and I have always walked away looking fabulous and renewed!\r Thick curly hair is great except when you have to deal with it on a daily basis, but both Raymond and Tara are experts in this domain, and they are able to recommend great product combinations so that can maintain the style at home. The salon's atmosphere is ultra relaxing(must be the Aveda products which smell wonderful...even the coloring treatments), and everyone is really helpful. I've been going to Nirvana ever since I moved to the Bay Area, almost 2 years ago. It came highly recommended by a friend and has exceeded expectations! Christine is my stylist and always gives me an amazing cut. She is very friendly and full of positive energy and great hair style ideas. The aromatherapy scalp massage is so relaxing and my favorite part! From the moment you walk in the door, smell the salon's calming fragrance and are offered an herbal tea of your choice, you begin to feel pampered. It's easy to see why I so much look forward to my visits to Nirvana!\r \r The service is consistently wonderful! Everyone there is so chill and friendly. I've lived all over the US and this is the best service for the best value around. They often offer coupons as well. It's in a great location!
