Ridiculously Overpriced 9/11/2012

Present pricing only when they know customer is under duress, pricing is ridiculously exorbitant: $382 for five minutes of work. more

I was in a jam so I Googled plumbers in the area and called Neerings. The technician showed up, saw what needeed to be done and quoted me $382. I told him then that I was unhappy about the price but had no alternative. I also called the original dispatch number to voice my displeasure. I timed the work; it literally took FIVE minutes. Annualizing that rate, Neerings charges $9,534,720 for their techncian's time. It is extortion - plain and simple. What Neerings is doing is unconscionable. End of story. more

Recently Matt replaced our Water Heater, replaced some pipes and got everything to code for us. You can trust this man anywhere. He had a lot of work to do and it took awhile. Our only stress was worrying about him starving. I would've offered food, but I knew that he wouldn't stop to eat. He worked so hard and always kept a smile on his face. What a trooper! I've never appreciated Hot Water so much in my life! more

Pricing is extortionary 9/1/2012

I had a simple finish nail through a plastic cold water supply hose going to a shower. The nail had pierced the hose eight years ago when the house was built, and not been discovered until the trim was removed, pulling the nail out of the hose and shooting water in to my daughter s bedroom. It was a Friday evening, we were hosting a dinner party in an hour. Annualizing that rate, Neerings charges $9,534,720 for their techncians time. It is extortion - plain and simple. I have run elevator service businesses, using Union labor in major cities. Our labor rate was $165/hour billed in 15 min increments - on call 24/7. What Neerings is doing is unconscionable. more

I wanted to take the time to let you know how wonderful my husband and I thought Matt and Todd were. We had a pipe break underneath our kitchen sink. After calling several after hours plumbing services we were relieved to hear that they were able to assist us almost immediately. Ironically, we were entertaining guests and were so grateful their staff was able to assist us in such a timely manner. Matt and Todd were friendly, professional, informative and very proficient at their trade. I believe calling a plumber is a daunting task for most of us due to the high costs generally associated with the trade. It certainly made our experience less troublesome having had such a pleasurable experience with their superb staff. more

NOT NEERINGS! 3/20/2012

online, with their bbb seal, they seemed legitimate and nice on the phone. i was unable to be there, as i had to work, but my boyfriend was at my condo to meet them for an inspection of work to be done. they concluded a pipe needed to be replaced and a connector was needed to connect 2 pipes for my fridge. they said i had corrosion, a pin hole leak, and the gas control box was unusable on my water heater. they said it would be $1,206 to replace the gas control box and the fridge together, or $322 for just the fridge repairs. i thought it was really high. they said i should replace the entire water heater. for the fridge and water heater replacement it would be $2,138. i about died, but this is my first home and ive never bought a water heater before, i let them know that. i needed hot water asap, so i said go ahead, as long as you give me a detailed, easy to understand price breakdown. i said i wanted to know where every cent was going. they said they would and did the work. i gave them my credit card info on the phone after the work was done. i came home to find a hand written carbon copy receipt of 'replace water heater: $2,015, repair fridge: $168, total: $2,138'. i was upset and called them. i felt i was treated like a child or annoying customer on the phone and he said he didnt have the info in front of him and will call me the next day. i called HIM the next day and asked to be emailed the detailed breakdown i was promised. i had called a few other places in the mean time and they all quoted me about $1,000 less for the same work. i finally got the breakdown, just to be disappointed again. it was another hand written breakdown on a scanned piece of paper 'material: $479.85, labor: $699.26, operational overhead: $432.89, cost to do work: $1,612, profit: $403, selling price: $2,015'. he listed in detail what labor and operational overhead pays for. i wanted to know why i was charged so much, and it seems i made an unwanted donation to keep their company running. it was all very unprofessional. i let them know this and i said this still doesnt tell me what i needed to know. they never provided me with the information they promised. i dont know why they have a bbb seal on their website. i dont feel they are a company that deserves it. other customers will see it, trust them and be taken advantage of in the future. more

Just plain over-priced and not that cool 10/21/2011

They replaced (unnecessarily I found out later) the thermo couple on my furnace and charged $278 and then quoted me $2,605 to replace a 30-gal water heater. I called around a bit and found thermo couples are much cheaper to replace and also found someone to replace the water heater for $750. Not the friendliest people either. Their ""customer service"" people (chad) are slightly obnoxious and borderline rude. I wasn't impressed and won't be calling them again. more

Anyone but Neerings 9/14/2011

We contacted Neerings for a bid on repairing our A/C unit this summer. We also contacted various other companies and asked what their diagnostic fee would be to come out. We told each company where the unit was (on the roof) and very honestly gave them all the information requested. Each company gave us a price to come and check our unit, which we took into account. Neerings told us they would "come out for free." I don't remember the exact language used by the dispatcher, but either saying they would "come out for free" or otherwise, it implied to us that the diagnostic would be free. Based on what we were told on the phone, we chose the two diagnostics that were least expensive. We chose Neerings (free) and Action ($59). I had one day available to deal with this issue, I own a business and we travel quite a bit.\r \r When the technician arrived, he looked in the closet, then told us he needed to go upstairs and it would cost us $142 to do that. We had our backs against a wall. more

HORRIBLE experience! Neerings fabricated a problem! 8/26/2011

When my ac stopped working, I called Neerings because I recognized the name. When they came out to fix my ac, the tech said that my ac unit was leaking fluid, and because the unit is above the furnace, it would light on fire if they tried to fix it. So, they would have to replace the entire unit: $2,963 was my bid. I called for a 2nd opinion from a different company. Turns out that all I needed was a new filter. The ""fluid"" was WATER condensation from the ac unit- it had frozen. There was also a small amount of mineral oil. But for that to light on fire, it would need a tremendous amount of heat, which is not even plausible (I called Neerings, told them what happened, and they agreed that this 'problem' is impossible). Neerings also failed to mention that my ac unit has a warranty on it until 2015!!!! Even if it was broken, I should have not paid anything except labor. So for the cost of a new air filter & a $75 service charge from the new company, my ac is fixed. I'll take that fee over Neering's bid any day. more
