Editorial review from Citysearch 9/29/2015

ALERT, ALERT!!!!! I dropped my very healthy dog for boarding on a Friday and picked up a very, very sick dog on Monday. The most outrageous part of all is that nobody at Stetz?s office bothered to tell me my dog was sick, including Stetz. My dog was disheveled and malodorous, covered in poop. She proceeded to get out of my car and had diarrhea and profuse vomiting to the point that she couldn?t get up off the floor. I called Stetz outraged and she didn?t even get on the phone. She did send a tech over to administer IV fluids and gave me a bottle of pills, but then I didn?t hear from Stetz for almost a week. I wrote her a letter letting her know how upset I was by her negligence and that I wanted a refund for the boarding and cleaning expenses for my carpets. NO ANSWER. It has been 5 weeks and my dog is STILL sick and no further word from Stetz or her office.\r \r PLEASE BEWARE. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL YOU BETTER THINK TWICE ABOUT NARBERTH ANIMAL HOSPITAL. more

Consistently excellent care 9/14/2012

Our cat died earlier this week at the age of nineteen and a half years. For his entire life, he was cared for at the Narbeth Animal Hospital. I could not envision any animal receiving better attention. For many years, the care consisted in routine, preventative medicine, which was invariably administered thoughtfully and kindly, and which seemed to keep pace with new developments in veterinary medicine. During the last two years of his life, our cat's health began to fail. He had serious bouts of anemia and finally fell prey to renal failure. It was during this time, that the Narbeth Animal Hospital demonstrated its highest levels of excellence. Dr. Stetz always managed to find the perfectly appropriate level of conservative care?the modalities that would help to prolong our cat's life without assaulting the quality of that life. She always showed patience in the face of endless questions and obviously cared personally about our pet?not hesitating to phone on occasion to in more

A home away from home 4/4/2012

I love this place ! I have taken all my animals here including my snake and bearded dragon. Dr. Stetz was more than friendly with me and very helpful with addressing the problems going on with my babies. My bearded dragon would had been very lethargic for about two weeks, had fully recovered and was even more active than when i first bought her. Both Dr. Stetz and her staff greeted me with a smile. I would recommend this place to anyone. In fact I do it on a regular basis. Great doctor!! Pros: null Cons: null more

Lazy, Unprofessional, Terrible! 3/22/2012

This place is UNBELIEVABLY unprofessional, lazy, and devoid of any care for the animals or humans that have somehow sustained this business over the years. Long story short, this venue offered a rather inexpensive echo for my cat, so (after hounding them over several days to please get back to me with an appointment time for this procedure,) they finally called me back to schedule an appointment for today. They even called me back to request more information after setting a time, so it's not like they didn't have my contact info. (This will become relevant in a moment.) I put my poor cat in a carrier and drove half an hour to this place, only to find A FREAKING NOTE ON THE DOOR (addressed ""To the echo patient,"" since apparently they couldn't be arsed to look up my name in their appointment book,) saying ""I guess we'll have to reschedule... since office is closed today."" Nope, no voicemails, no phone calls, no nothing. I guess you get what you pay for; this place is staffed with unprofessional losers who can't even be bothered to master the basics of setting appointments or valuing the time of the people and animals who come to see them. So, I had to drive a sick and scared kitty around in his carrier for an hour in travel time total for absolutely nothing. Avoid this place like the plague, unless you enjoy running a fool's errand! TOTALLY not worth it! more

DO NOT go to her for exotics 11/27/2011

Dr. Stetz should not be allowed to practice veterinary medicine on exotics. My guinea pig was brought in to see her after he became sick at an old age. We later found out that he had impacted bowels, which is a common issue for guinea pigs, especially as they get older. Dr. Stetz, however, did not diagnose him. Instead, she told us that he was "just old." She also clipped his teeth without asking our permission, and she clipped them too short so he started to bleed. My little guinea pig died a few days later, and I blame Dr. Stetz for being an incompetent veterinarian and failing to diagnose a common guinea pig ailment. If she had done her job, we could have done something for him. At the very least, we could have made him more comfortable as he passed on. more

professional 7/23/2011

Dr. Jill Stetz IS very professional as someone suggested could be misconstrued as not being friendly....AND the place is immaculately clean. Much cleaner than when Dr. Deiter, who we all loved, had the place. I say this truthfully. more

No problems! 6/23/2011

I called and got an appointment. They were courteous on the phone. I arrived with my dog on time. Everything seemed fine. Both tech and vet took the time to get to know my dog when they first met him. While waiting for some blood work, which was done the same day in house, I looked up the online reviews and saw things that did not fit my experience at all. I found them competent, friendly, and actually informative -- they helped me understand more about my dog's diagnosis that any other vet consulted. We will return. As for the price, we it seemed competitive. more

no response 2/14/2011

I should have read these reviews before I called and left a message that I needed in-home euthanasia for my cat but I was too distraught. I was counting on saying goodbye to my beloved cat in my home without the stress of going to the vet for him and me. My call was never returned. When I'm feeling better I'm going to look into reporting this incompetent vet to a national organization: reading the other reviews broke my heart and something should be done about this vet. more

too expensive, vet doesn't care about animals 12/15/2010

I had my two cats neutered at this facility......not only was the price absolutely ridiculous; but, when I went to pick them up the next day, the one was still bleeding. I wanted to ask Dr. Stetz about this but the tech said she was busy. I paid and never went back. I also do not like how they do not let you go back to the exam room with your pet....we now have a dog and I will never take him here! We are using Township Line Animal Hospital on Landsdowne Rd in Upper Darby....they are fantastic!! more

DISGUSTED 9/3/2010

I went there for two visits for my puppy and will never return again. The place is very run down, and dirty. The techs seem like they do not know what they are doing. Dr. Stetz isn't friendly. The second time I went there for my puppy's shots, there was a man behind the desk who made a very rude comment about a client's dog after Dr. Stetz said something to him. "Who would want that stupid dog?" They also wouldn't give me a receipt for my visit so I could submit it to the pet insurance and I had to wait for 20 minutes just for one. This place isn't even big enough to be a good hospital. It doesn't even deserve one star. Save yourself money, time and your pet's life DO NOT GO THERE! more

Not a bunny vet by our experience 8/30/2010

Two years ago we took our holland lop, Sugar, to Dr Stetz. We only had the bunny for 6 weeks and it suddenly had severe intestinal distress. She looked at our 2 lb rabbit who was dehydrated and loosing control of it's bowels and prescribed two kinds of antibiotics and sent us home. I gave our bunny the meds and it died within an hour. I then got online and did research and corresponded with a doctor that deals with rabbits. Our bunny was not handled correctly by Dr Stetz and should've been immediately put on an IV etc... I talked with House Rabbit Society who told us about Radnor Vets in Wayne. Two years later we finally found a bunny to love and Radnor vet to take care of him. Lesson learned, all because you have a rabbit pictured on your business card does not mean you have any business treating rabbits. more

Good review 8/24/2010

I've only had good experiences with Dr Stetz. She is business like, which others may perceive as cold. I am always able to get an appointment within 24 hours. My cats have been patients at Narberth Animal Hospital for 10 years now. The front desk is at time disorganized but never incompetent. I feel confident taking my beloved cats to Dr Stetz and will continue to do so. more

Friendly staff & Great Service 5/24/2010

We have brought our cats and dogs to Dr. Stetz for three years for well visits and have been very pleased with the service. Recently we have had to bring a couple of our older cats for sick visits. Dr. Stetz has done an outstanding job of explaining the problem and discussing the different treatment options. We have been very pleased with the care provided. One of our cats needed surgery last week and we felt very comfortable that Dr. Stetz would take good care of him. He is now back at home and fully recovered. more

Totally fine place 5/16/2009

I agree the decor is lacking. I was so scared reading these reviews after taking my cat there, that I went and got a 2nd opinion when he recently was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer. I went to another vet, then another place for ultrasound. Both places confirmed what Jill had said at Narberth. They both agreed on her treatment protocol. She was not incorrect or incompetent. Unless anyone here posting actually took the time to get a valid, 2nd opinion by a vet - I think it's unfair to self diagnose or second guess and badmouth a professional without concrete evidence. more

Take your animals elsewhere 2/27/2009

If you feel like keeping an incompetent vet in business, by all means - take your pet to Narberth Animal Hospital for its annual shots and checkups. But don't count on Dr. Stetz to detect any diseases or threatening but treatable conditions. If you do decide to trust your pet's well-being to this run-down outfit, you may very well end up as I: With a dead cat.\r If you care for your animal, you should give your business and trust to one of the several high-quality animal hospitals in the area, Ardmore Animal Hospital is great. I don't give a dam how compassionate and "nice" the staff seem - it can't change the fact that Stetz is not a skilled veterinarian who should not be in business. Let her go work in a meat-packing plant - I don't care - I'm a vegetarian. more

Excellent Care! 2/6/2009

Our family had used Narberth Vet for quite a while and we have never been disappointed. Dr. Stetz and her staff have always taken great care of our pets. We recently had to have our 13 year old dog put to sleep and everyone at Narberth Animal Hospital was so kind and helpful during her illness. Our newly adopted dog loves it there too!The Cotton Family more

Nice people and helpful 11/20/2008

I took our dog to the hospital for a check up and for several health problems. They provided very helpful suggestions to take care of all the problems. more

All these negatives not deserved IMO 8/20/2008

I have used Narberth Animal Hospital for more than a decade for dogs and cats and have never experienced anything like what some of these other reviews describe. The staff has always been helpful and caring and I have recommended the practice without reservation to many people. If I had to suggest an improvement, it would be that the facilities could use some upgrading. It does feel like the place is stuck in the 70s in terms of decor, exam rooms, etc. Seems most of the patient files are still kept on 3x5 cards. The place seems a bit dog-eared, if you'll pardon the expression, but I have never had a negative experience with the staff. more

Something is wrong at this animal hospital 5/5/2008

Sorry to say it, but I agree with the poor ratings above. Brought my cat for a bath and was told I could pick him up by 6pm. I showed up at 5pm and they were closed. I waited for someone to return (from dinner?), called, called, and called. Nobody ever showed. I arrived first thing in the morning to pick him up. They were completely disorganized. They didn't charge me for overnight boarding. They didn't acknowledge any problems or mistakes either. I could have been ordering a Big Mac from McDonalds. "Thank you, come again."\r \r I've had other poor experiences with Dr. Stetz over the years. I'm done. \r \r Take my advice and take your animals elsewhere. more

Terrible vet, avoid if you want your animal to survive 9/1/2007

Years ago when Dr. Stetz was new here and Dr. Dieter's schedule was full we saw Dr. Stetz a few times. She was not very sharp or friendly, does not really connect with the animal or the owner. Then the dachsund was suddenly lame, we had to see Dr. Stetz, she said a UTI. It turned out to be two ruptured discs. After 2 days of UTI treatment and the inability to urinate, we demanded to see Dr. Dieter, and he sent us to PENN stat for surgery. A few more hours and he would have died from not urinating. Two or three years ago Dr. Stetz bought the practise from Dr. Dieter, then fired him. Now I never see a car in the lot. Everyone has her number. She is a ROTTEN vet, and should have no license to practise veterinary medicine. more
