Outstanding Service 9/5/2010

The staff and management have gone out of their way to help me with problems with my Ford van. A dealership wanted to replace a door handle assembly which was very expensive. I drove to Colony tire and they repaired the existing handle with minimal charge. \r I am paralyzed, in a wheel chair, and they then repaired the ramp assembly at minimal charge which other facilities wanted to replace some parts at an excessive cost. \r Their mechanics have worked on the starting system for the van, the tie rods, etc for the tires and other maintenance items for the van..\r They also found and removed a nail in a tire and patched holes in the medical seat cushion I use in my wheel chair.\r \r They have identified and fixed engine problems other mechanics have not seen.\r I highly reccommend the facility for their excellent service and excellent professional staff. more

go elsewhere if you can 6/4/2010

I've been to this place a couple of times over the years but will try to avoid going back. I had a radiator problem this week and Colony was close by, so I took it in. The car needed a NC state inspection, so I asked them to do that as well. They were quick to look at it, which was great. But the estimate for the radiator repair was $175 greater than my usual shop. And Colony found a problem that caused me (in their eyes) to fail the inspection. They also charged a $13 labor fee for doing the inspection, which seems high. Today I took the car to my regular mechanic, who replaced the radiator, and re-inspected the car. He said the problem flagged by Colony was a real problem, but wasn't serious enough to keep the car from passing the inspection. Pros: quick turnaround Cons: overpriced and questionable findings more

Good experience in May 2010 5/20/2010

I needed tires, they gave me options, made it convenient So I can't complain - suggest giving them a chance They went beyond my expectations to make it easy Pros: service, knowledge, convenience Cons: None this experience more

Very Poor and Terrible Service 5/10/2010

Colony Tire did a very poor job and blew way past their estimate by about $300. They guys up front put on a great face and seem guenuinly friendly until you go back with your problem. Then they make you feel quite inadequate about your lack of car knowledge and explain to you why it is YOUR fault. I took my vehicle to another mechanic who pointed out what Colony had messed up. I then we back to Colony to have them fix the problem. They took a few days and claimed the problem was fixed...I asked them how they screwed it up in the first place and they said they had no idea. Now I am experiencing more costly problems. Do not go to Colony Tire....Great location, terrible service. Cons: Deceitful, more

Colony Tire at Harison Rocks!! 2/2/2010

I have been going to Colony off of Harrison Ave for over 5 years and in all that time I have never had a problem with the work or the employees. Everyone I have dealt with has an excellent attitude, they are truly enjoyable to work with. \r \r Any questions or concerns I had were answered and handled in a efficient and professional manner. \r They always take the time to explain what repairs or replacements need to be done. Excellent staff!! Pros: Always polite, helpful and detailed Cons: none so far more

Colony Tire does it right! 1/29/2010

I've been bringing my cars to Colony Tire for service and tire replacement over the past few years. Great prices, top notch service and a friendly staff keep me coming back. I have always received the best value for my family's car care. LJ, the store manager, is there to insure that his customers receive the best Colony Tire can offer. Thank you. \r Pros: Professional and friendly service for your auto more

Stay Away From This Shop 12/23/2009

I used to frequent this location a long time ago and so I have an unfortunate affinity for the location. However, the people must have changed. October 2008 I had a wheel bearing go out and brought it in. The people were friendly enough and the had a van service to run me to my home. I got a call later saying the bearing had welded itself into the hub and they had to replace that. That's plausible enough, but they also told me I had to get a wheel alignment (an extra 70 dollars). Fast forward to today, December 2009. I just had my other wheel bearing replaced at a different mechanic. They quoted me a price for the hub ahead of time (in case it was welded too) and it was much less than Colony. In addition, they told me it didn't make sense for me to have an alignment. So Colony took an extra 69.99 for no reason. I don't know if they even did the alignment or just counted the money. In addition, I asked Colony to place the old parts in my car when they were finished and they made a note of that request. Well, I was pulling out of the parking lot and there were no parts. I had to go back in and I got most of them. The mechanic was very nervous talking to me for some reason too, which makes sense knowing what I know today. In fact, the mechanic seemed like a very honest man, probably put in a bad position by management. Anyway, go somewhere else to get your car fixed. Avoid Colony Tire. Pros: Friendly Cons: Misleading, Overcharge more

Unbelievable! 9/15/2009

I'm not sure where to begin! Yesterday I brought my 2001 Blazer into Colony Tire on Harrison Blvd in Cary, NC. The issue: pulling very badly to the left when I braked. After leaving it with them for a couple of hours they called to say the calipers needed replacing along with the brake pads, hoses, & fluid. I was also told the rotors needed turning. For this work I was quoted $791. I had also mentioned that I was experiencing a popping noise when I would turn the wheel right or left. For this issue I was told that the upper ball joints and sway bar needed replacing and was quoted $524. As these prices were quite high I opted to pick up my vehicle and get a second opinion. Much to my astonishment I was called by the place I took it to for a second opion to let me know the issue was a loose bolt in the upper control arm. It had nearly come out....AND this had been caused by whomever had done my last alignment as it had not been tightened properly! Guess what? It was Colony Tire in Wakefield that did my last alignment!! This second garage also told me that my calipers, brake pads, hoses, rotors, upper ball joints, and sway bar were all in great shape!! So instead of paying Colony Tire $1,315 for work that didn't need doing, I paid $75 for an hour's labor to diagnose the actual problem and tighten that bolt. As a result of this problem I will now need a new alignment as well as a new tire that has been worn on the inside due to the pulling of my vehicle. I would also like to mention that when I made the decision not to have Colony Tire do the work they told me the calipers weren't actually too bad and all that really needed doing was the hoses and pads. For hoses and pads I was quoted $400. Unbelievable - it just confirms how dishonest these folks are. I don't care how conveniently they are located, they are incompetent or deceitful or both, and I can't afford to take another chance allowing them to work on my vehicles. Stay away! Cons: deceitful, expensive, untrustworthy more

What a Rip-Off! 5/24/2009

Since I work across the street from this location, I dropped off my car for an oil service and tire rotation. They provided a shuttle ride to my building (again, convenient). OMG! it was over $80 ...for an oil change and Tire rotation! and to add insult to injury, when I got home, I had dirty grease all over my hands from the steering wheel! To be fair, I can only blame myself. My last service was done at the AAA located on Chapel Hill Rd in Morrisville. I picked up a card promoting a special for AAA members: 4 oil changes, 2 tire rotation and balances, an air filter and more for just $99. (If you were not a member, you could add that for $50) Still much less than the $80 at this joint! I'll sacrifice the convenience next time. Pros: Convenient Location Cons: Everything Else more

Absolutely the Worst 4/9/2009

Have been to this shop twice in the past month, and both times was a Fiasco! The first time was just for an Oil and Filter service. To make a long story short, an employee ""walked through"" my 2007 Honda Odyssey Van, between the first and middle row seats, leaving very greasy foot prints on the carpet mats. I noticed this after I got home and immediately called to tell them what I had found. They vehemently denied that their people would do anything like that. But by the time I got back to the shop to show them, the employee had confessed (but still confused as to why he had walked through my Van ??? ....The second trip was to get the tires rotated. This time, upon washing the van the day after the tire rotation, I found a door-ding with dark blue paint embedded in it ! The same color paint as the lift that my Honda was raised up on in order to rotate the tires. Guess what....denied it again! Nope...sorry guys, you don't get three strikes! I'll never do business with Colony Tire again! Pros: Friendly People, for the most part Cons: Totally inept employess more
