Monster Movers Review - Raytheon Employee 12/29/2011

Somewhat recently I relocated as part of a work rotational assignment( DC-Area to Boston). Moving does suck, but when you don't have to pack, transport, unpack, or pay - it's even better!\r \r After having my entire apartment packed by professionals, I think I'm going to find it hard for me to ever do it myself. I really did pack nothing. I had stuff all over the place - on my desk, coffee table, side tables, floor, etc. I only packed away some clothes and other necessities that would last me until the end of the promised delivery time frame - about two weeks.\r \r The movers actually wouldn't let me pack anything they were transporting because they are liable for any damage. Anything they took apart, they reassembled upon delivery. I was a bit skeptical, but everything worked out just fine.\r \r In addition to covering the moving expenses, my employer also paid for supplemental insurance of $10 / pound, which I understand is quite generous (normal coverage is $0.60 / pound). I almost wish my stuff did get lost ... shhh. Also, the movers worked with a third-party carpenter to build a wooden crate for my LCD TV. They attached accelerometers on the crate to make sure the it was handled properly. I think this might have been a supplemental service actually.\r \r To give a little perspective on time, the movers (two guys) came on a Monday morning and packed up my 600ft^2 apartment (IIRC, they estimated about 2000lb, or maybe I'm way off) in about three and a half hours - from answering my door to them driving off with my life. I got a call the next day telling me that they were coming to deliver my stuff on Wednesday morning. All things considered, that is a pretty quick turnaround.\r \r While I cannot speak for private service, they were efficient, fast, and friendly for work relocation. I suppose they do have a major incentive to do well however, as I understand my employer is one of their top clients. Nonetheless, it was a positive experience despite all the horror stories I've heard about movers.\r \r more

Worst Moving Experience of My Life 12/12/2011

We scheduled a 1 O'clock move on a Friday December 9th, 2011. My wife called at 1:30 to inquire when the movers would be their. The representive told us they were on a job and would be there in a few minutes no, they didn't show till 2:15. When they showed up It just got worse from there on in. The main moving guy was yelling and swearing how he can't get up the hill and he shouldnt have to be here on Friday doing a job at one o'clock in the afternoon. Supposedly this company only has two trucks and the other one was on it's way to Florida with the owner of the Company. The guys tells us that we had to get another mover and he would have to charge us another 30 dollars an hour. Felt right there that we were getting scammed, our lease was up and had to be out that night so we had to suck it up. The company took forever to move, and yet they did not move everything in our house. My wife and I had to travel back to the city three times to get everything out of our house. I should have looked more indepth at this company and would have seen a pretty bad pattern of service. The two moving guys were pretty good but the driver was a complete ass, he was swearing and very unprofessional. The funniest thing was that he was telling me if he got a ticket he would have to put that on us, yeagh you might want to know the law first buddy. These guys got an F- hard. My wife and I are about to begin liability claims as well on this company due to them damaging our bed, artwork, boys bed, and dinning room table. Plus we just submitted a complaint to the BBB. 900 dollar moved cost 400 plus in damages. Worst company ever. more

Just Used Them for a local move from Shrewsbury to Boston 10/20/2011

The muscle men who came to move me were awesome. They came uniformed in polos with their muscles out to ))))) here! And who doesn't want their movers to show up in polo shirts - even if it is 45 degrees out! I was so impressed with my monster movers - they did my whole move in 5 hours so the total was around $600. The girl that booked my move was Sarah and she said it was going to be about $756 so I was pretty happy that it was less. I tipped the movers $20 each and was still under budget. The Monster Movers I used were from Boston - Charlestown so I hope this is the same company. I didn't see Monster Movers in Boston as an option. more

They moved my antique furniture without a scratch 10/19/2011

Let me start by telling you that I have a housefull of antiques that I moved to Michigan years ago. The last movers I used were part of a larger company called Atlas. They put two scratches in a mans wardrobe that I had to pay a furniture repair person to fix. I also had to fix a curved glass peice from my china cabinet. That being said, I was extremely nervous to do the move back to Worcester expecially at my age (71). Anyhow, we hired the Monster Movers mainly because they provided us with references from local companies in Worcester and Ann Arbor with whom they moved antiques and artwork for. They came weeks before the actual move and measured the peices to build crates for the artwork. It was a little pricey but I guess the rates have gotten higher than they were twenty years ago. The move went well. We paid extra for a door to door moving service that guaranteed our furniture in Massachusetts within 2 days. Both trucks arrived together and on time. At the offload they sent 3 more fellows who were helpful and made things go a lot faster. They did not charge us for the extra three men because it was included in the line haul amount that we agreed to in Michigan. There was not a single scratch or bump or rub on anything. Well, our sofa had a bit of dust from the truck because the saran wrap rubbed off while it was in transit but it was an easy cleanup. more

**BEWARE** OF THE MONSTERS OF MOVERS!!!!! 10/12/2011

Hmm where do I begin...as an ex employer for this CROOKED company MONSTER MOVERS.I have witnessed the following things, !!!COSTUMERS BEWARE!!! When I first began I told him I had no licence and only wanted to work as a mover helper Bill quickly munipulated me into driving his trucks. To date none of his driver's have ANY CDL OR LICENCE'S PERIOD! I started noticing how Bill's company wasn't run legit, his paper work is non existent and claimed his computer was wiped out so he just wings it, also had me and other employers working up to 90 hours a week barley able to see my family. And had issues every week with my checks as far as him not paying me fully and or not at all, making make me wait days after pay day for my money. Also made us late to customers homes frequently due to his lack of attention to his company sent us out with no directions and often wrong direction to totally different cities! I also noticed he was storing cabinets for a Worcester Housing company in the same units as paying customers! And seen customers come in wondering where the belongings went. Also witnessed him treat his costumers with no respect screaming at them and down right ignorant.Telling his customers he has a renters licence BEWARE ""HE DOES NOT""! Also BEWARE of HIDDEN FEE'S Bill loves to charge for tape shrink wrap, and anything else that will add on to you'r bill that you were not aware of when signing of the bill . Also gets seriously Irate when his employers don't try getting away with customers not using travel time coupons. If the customer use the coupon then Bill gets mad and threatens employers jobs! I am a profesional mover have worked as a mover for 17 years and **BEWARE** Bill hires people to move his customers furniture that have NO experince in the moving buisness also hiring people who are thieves and steal people property ! And when Bill is told that these people are thieves and steal he keeps them working for him anyways ! So as you can see Monster mover are truely MONSTERS! after working for Bill I have seen it all! Im writing this review to bring attention to potential customers DO YOUR RESEARCH! STAY AWAY FROM ""THE MONSTERS OF MOVERS!"" more

Monster Movers Moving Company Review -- MA to TX 10/3/2011

I contacted these movers via the link that's on this website. . \r Charles called me the morning of the estimate appointment, and when I told him I had a dentist appointment and would like to push things back by about 15-20 minutes, he said no problem. \r \r Charles came by and before going to the inventory, he asked questions about what I was looking to do. He told me about this site and also told me that I should get three quotes. I told him that I had done so and that he was the third. What was most impressive was that he had suggestions on how to take care of things on my own and to save money on it. For example, when I said that I didn't have the box for my TV and that I was quoted a price of $200 to pack it from Federal and that I didn't want to spend that kind of money on a TV that only cost me $400, he told me not to worry. First, he said, he could have his guys do it for $25. He gave me a bunch of tips on how to do it myself and save some money. \r \r I also mentioned to him that I figured I'd have to get rid of my aquariums. He gave me a suggestion on how to take care of it. I was very impressed. The other movers told me that I'd have to have them packed by their people and that it'd cost a decent chunk of change -- more than the aquariums are worth! \r \r He did the inventory and instead of just looking briefly at things, he had suggestions on what to keep and what to toss. In fact, he pulled out a bottle of olive oil and said to me, if you want to keep this, and I know that nobody likes tossing $20 down the drain, at the very least you should put it in a zip lock bag and seal it. That way, if it does break -- and yes, the insurance will cover it but it's a hassle -- it's contained. He also told me that much of the food in the cabinet was not going to be able to be shipped. \r I asked him if he could ship my car for me, and he told me that he could. The price was $250 \r \r The big difference for these guys versus the others I called is the advice I got from Charles. The others were professional and I'd have no problem working with them. But what made Bayshore stand out in my mind is the advice and suggestions that I received. \r \r I'm in sales myself, and Charles did the same kinds of things I do. I'll give advice, and if I can't provide a service, I'll tell you who can. If my service isn't competitive, I'll tell you that as well. \r \r The move itself went well. The pick-up and delivery were uneventful - which is a good thing. There wasn't any damage and the moving crew took all of the debris from my house and assembled all of my items for me at the offload. The estimate for the move was exactly how much the move cost me. There weren't any other fees/taxes. Overall, it was a great experience. more

BEWARE!!!! DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS OR YOU WILL BE SORRY 9/19/2011

They will tell you anything to get your business and promise the world DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD!!! They lie and damage your belongings. Car was damaged and then I was told ""...we don't cover that, we do it for free basically, like a friend..."" Well, I don't know about you but I don't want ""a friend"", especially one I've never met to move my car. I want a professional, insured, responsible company. This is not it. If you are moving locally, maybe, but not long distance!!!!!! You've been warned. more

Great Moving Company - Gift Certs for referrals! 9/9/2011

We moved in early 2010 with Monster Movers and again last month (August 2011) and both times we had the pleasure of having Ian and Craig as the driver and helper. We moved in 2010 from NYC to Boston and the move was flawless, we also reviewed that move on moverreviews and in August from Boston to Worcester and this move also was perfect. My wife and I both are consultants for a large software firm which is the reason we move so often and will porbably be moving in the next year or 2 again unfortunately and will most certainly be using them again. Also, we have referred several friends and colleagues to their services and have had positive reviews from all who have used them. They have mailed us referral checks on all of them and we appreciate it very much. more

Arrived late, stole our ipod, ran off into the sunset 9/7/2011

August 8th 2011. The Monster Mover's sent 3 men late. When they came into our 4300 sq. ft. home all tehy did was look around. One of the movers was not focused. He kept walking away and looking into boxes or things, acting funny. Then all of a sudden he ran upstairs alone looking for a bathroom. While i took the other 2 guys on the offical house tour before starting the house tour, my husband freaked out and said the ipod was missing from the stand. I aksed the lead mover if his guys might have clipped it. He said no. Soon after they had a fight in the truck through the guy out on the street, came back picked him up, canceled our move and drive off into the sunset. They are crazy and unprofessioanl. Our $100 deposit was never returned after one month. So now I am going ot call the local policed in Worcster, Ma to place a claim against the buisoness. Good luck everyone! more

Stuck to Long Distance Estimate - Good Hustle 9/5/2011

My family just moved from Orlando to Boston in March. We did what everyone told us to do and got three estimates. Two estimates were very close and the other was quite a bit cheaper. We choose Monster Movers (one of the higher bids) because we felt like the people from their local agent were straight with me. When I asked why one company was so inexpensive they told me that they did not know for sure but warned me about being tricked into accepting an attractive estimate and being charged more later. They stood by their estimate and assured me that if they estimated the weight of my shipment too high that I would be pleasantly surprised when they billed me less. \r \r The crew who came to pack my belongings into boxes were wonderful. They were professional acting every minute and finished quicker than I thought they would. My husband and I just let them in and gave them a few directions and they did the rest. On moving day I was surprised at the amount of care the movers used in protecting my things. They covered the floors and banisters before they did anything. They wrapped almost everything in moving pads inside my house. They wrapped all of my cloth furniture in a plastic wrap. I do not know what else they could do to keep my thing safe. When the movers delivered my things it was more of the same. They worked so hard and steady. \r \r I was told what I owed the day before they delivered. The bill was slightly less than the estimate but a lot more than the low bid I received. \r \r I feel like I made the best choice when I hired Monster Movers to move us. \r \r more

Bad Bad Worse, break stuff don't pay 8/5/2011

Screwed up in so many ways. Had to move some stuff myself. Then they broke things and practically yelled at me when I mentioned it. Still waiting for money they promised. It has been months and keep saying sending a check. Bill is confrontational and the worst. Stay away and save yourself this experience. I question the good reviews. Horrible service. more

Just great service 7/16/2011

I am very satisfied with the work provided by Monster Moving and Storage. I can't say enough how much they helped me with the intricacies of my move. First, I had to leave earlier then estimated and arrive earlier as well. Dan made sure I was going to get serviced no matter what. Originally, I was suppose to be a part of a tractor trailer, which was ok by me. But since I changed the day of pick up and delivery, they had to charter a truck especially for me. I understood that all this was going to incur an additional cost, but I was surprised how minimal the extra cost was. I didn't expect that at all. My company paid for any additional amount out of my pocket, so I was totally fine with that. Plus, they packed everything, they reassembled everything as well. I can't say enough how happy I am with them. Thanks so much Monster Moving for your help and dedication. more

Monster Movers Saved the Day My Closing Delayed 7/1/2011

I hired Monster Movers to move my wife and I from a 3 bedroom house in Westfor, MAto a 3 bedroom in Medford, MA. After hearing about a lot of horror stories, We were prepared for anything. Before we actually hired anyone, we called 5 or 6 movers that we heard about with a decent reputation. Those that would not do a on site evaluation, with an estimate based on that, we discarded. From there we narrowed it down by service and the intangibles (did they sound like they are making up numbers just to get our business?) based on all that, and the sales person, who was most knowledgable, and gave us advice as to how to minimize our moving expenses, we hired Monster. When the movers arrived right in the middle of the time window, we were relieved. 3 men arrived, and the foreman spoke with me, he and I went over the arrangements I made with the salesperson, and we agreed as to the time that we are starting the move. To make a long story short, I have never seen such a bunch of energetic, fast moving workers. They had our entire house clear in less than 4 hours. (no mean feat considering that we'd had 100+ boxes, beds, fragile objects, daybeds, computers, and a very heavy file cabinet). We hit a few snags on the actual move part, but that was entirely my fault. (closing taking longer than anticipated). On the unpacking part (at the destination) the management gave us a few rules, which slowed things down a bit. but these guys still worked hard. After unpacking all the important boxes (which were also fragile), it turns out nothing was broken, or damaged in any way. The estimate was close to the actual cost, and everything went better than ever expected. more
