I tried Moda b/c they have a reputation and was impressed with the talk-up that the manager gave me when I called. I scheduled a $100 facial and waxing. The manager said she would give me an introductory special of $85. I was thrilled to be pampered! I have had many regular facials in my life all over the country. My face wax was rushed and completely over in less than 5 minutes! The only question the woman asked me was which products I used...nothing else was discussed. She then put an enzyme mask on my freshly waxed skin!?!? A big no-no! When she was done she said, ""Well, your not bleeding..."" and lef the room. When I went to change and saw myself in the mirror I had ABRASIONS where she had waxed. My face was beet red and looked like it had been scrubbed with a steel sponge! This was the BASIC facial! When I went to the desk to pay I was told that the aesthetician had upgraded my facial to a ""purify me"" facial and that it was an additional $25. I stated we discussed no upgrade and the immature desk staff just nodded and said, ""well this is what she did..."" I was so upset at the state of my face that I went home and cried. The next day I broke out with a rash over my entire face including eyelids and lips. I finally called the manager and she was apologetic, but had to check with the owner about a refund. All I wanted was my hard earned money back for the abuse that I experienced in that ""spa."" She suggested I come back in and see the same person that did this to me!!! I refused. I had received a gift certificate for a massage at Moda and decided to add on a facial. I went this past Tuesday and had an outstanding massage with Patricia and a wonderful facial with Anna. Upon arriving I was greeted by a very friendly and professional receptionist and also met Lorraine, who had called me to confirm the appointment and had been very accommodating in working with my schedule. I was escorted to the lounge area and offered bottled water and/or tea, prior to heading into the cozy locker room. I changed into a plush robe and slippers and headed back to the lounge to wait for my massage therapist. Patricia promptly came to get me and a blissful massage awaited me. Patricia was very professional and competent, and this was one of the best massages I have ever had. After a very relaxing, destressing massage, I moved into a different room for my facial with Anna. She gave me a clear and open consultation and then gave me a magnificent facial. I have been to spas in Miami, New York, San Francisco and Europe, and both treatments were world-class. The rooms were comfortable and relaxing; the lighting was very dim, the music soothing, and no outside noises intruded. Both Patricia and Anna were a delight to talk to and I would highly recommend their services to anyone. Thank you Moda for a wonderful experience! I recently visited Moda Salon Spa at theri John's Creek Location, where I had a hair cut, low lights, and highlights. I have been visiting salons to have my hair done since I was 15 years old and I must say that I have never been treated with more courtesy and respect as I did the day I walked into Moda. My appointment was on time and the reception staff was more than pleasent and ready to accomodate my every need. When I met with my stylist , I was so impressed with his knowlege of hair fashion and appreciated so much the passion he had regarding his trade. I learned he has studied hair in Miami, and New York and I liked the fact that he was up to date with all the trends, products and then some. THe Entire hair stafff was the same way. Very passionate. I was so nervous to get 4 inches taken off my hair and to try something different. I just had a baby and was feeling less than glamorous and I needed a change. My stylist provided that for me. He listened to me and my needs and knew EXACTLY what I wanted. Needless to say, I am that glamorous new mom that was not disappointed . Thank you to everyone at Moda! I was so impressed with the way I was treated, and love my hair. To start, I was late to my appointment, because I was lost. The girl who answers the phone was very kind and guided me through and right to the salon. My stylist (Nicole) was also great and still did my hair even though I came late. She was very organized in how she delt with the situation. I love my hair, and I am going back next week to get a manicure and pedicure, I can't wait. Marie did my extensions, and I've never been happier! I've had extensions for years, and she is by far the BEST person thats done them in the past years. I have had good technicians at Moda, but I must agree with prior comments - not that the front desk staff was rude (they are a little immature and overly giddy with each other) but they are untrained (this is where the management staff needs to take note!) My first experience - 1 showed up and they told me I didn't have an appointment - after I had a saved message on my cell phone from them the day before confirming (????), the second time I scheduled 3 services that needed to be completed in a particular order and again, the front desk staff did not book the services in the proper order therefore I couldn't get all of my services (and was not compensated or even approached by the management in any way for my inconvenience - a verbal apology was all I was looking for) and thirdly, they made my last appointment for a man/ped with Monique (who is incredible) at a time on a day when the spa was not open!!! I have been going to Moda duluth for about six months now. I really enjoy my experiences there-every time. I have never experienced the pretentious attitudes described in some of the other reviews. I love my stylist and all the products/services that they have to offer. the kerastase is my fav!!! they are moderately expensive, but in this case, you get what you pay for. i ventured out to having some spa services done....wow best pedi ever!! go to monique! and im very picky about my eyebrows, anna did a pheeeenominal job. like i said i have never seen some of the things described below. I had the best facial I have ever had at Moda in Duluth with Anna. She really tackled my problem areas and spent more time with me than my appointment was for. She also did some unusual techniques to my problem areas that I had never had done at a spa before. My skin was much clearer after the experience and I had fewer problems for months ahead. My only criticism is that the products were pretty expensive. Some were prescription grade, but I bought an eye cream that was $44 and a bleaching cream that was recommended (even though I had no need for bleaching I thought..?) for around $96. I ended up spending hundreds for the products and did not feel the benefits that I did with the facial. Next time, I would skip the products and spend that money on another facial. I enjoyed a full day with Moda, I had one of the best MASSAGES I ever experienced, and the FACIAL was soothing and effective..My final servcie of the daty was my HAIRservcies... The front office staff was immature, disrespectful, and VERY rude. As I stood at the desk to sign in for my appointment, they continued to gossip and giggle like spoiled children. My stylist, Jenny, however, was very personable and did a great job on my hair. My husband loved the cut and style. She is the only reason I would return. The ""manager"" walked through as I was standing at the desk to pay, saw that the staff was ignoring a customer (again), and did not say a word. My job sends me around the United States and I usually visit salons where I stay. The reception staff sets the tone of the salon. This front desk says ""Moda is for spoiled brats who only want to say they've been to the salon with Daddy's money, NOT for real women who earn excellent salaries and expect the services they pay for to be the best available."" I may return for the hairstylist, but it will be despite the rude desk staff, and I would never attempt any other service in this salon. Pros: Hairstylist was wonderful Cons: RUDE desk staff. I was just on here checking things out and these reviews are crazy!! I have been a client of moda duluth for years and I receive the best service!! (ps. ask for zeena for spa) I think these reviews are from those noboby can please people because I spend lots of money here and never had a problem except my stylist moved to somewhere else. I just want to say that moda salon was very nice!! I had a gift card which was from a differnt spa who went out of business it was expired and moda invited me to to their spa to use my gift card they promised me that I would be very happy!! And that I was. Everyone was as nice and caring as they could be!! They didnt treat me any differnt than if I were a paying client. The front desk girls even gave me a gift for a shampoo style just for giving them a chance. They have gained a client for life. The world needs more people like the people at moda salon!!!! I was hopeful when I sent Spa Moda for a massage. While my therapist was nice and pretty good, but the rest of the staff were unprofessional and unfriendly. The front desk staff were too busy chatting and gossiping to provide good customer service. more

I wish I had read these reviews before visiting this salon. The front desk was rude. The hair technicians recommended by the front desk do not seem to know how to color much less cut hair. The prices for sevices and products are extremely high for the area. I came in for a free cut with a color service and I ended up spending more time and money trying to repair the damage to my hair than had I just paid for a cut elsewhere. I would like to tell everyone if they are looking for a place to be catered to and relax and still receive exceptional care, well look no further!! Moda has it all, My only complaint if you can call it that would be they are remodeling to make it a better place to come with more to offer their customers!! Thanks for caring!! The management was wonderful, Staff was so friendly and professional. They could not do enough for me. My colorist was Apryl and she was a doll, Did a beautiful job!! While I think Moda has its plus', overall I think there are much better spa's out there for the money. Some of my complaints would be poor hairstylists- one of which did a horrible job on all three members of our families hair, bad management- that promised a credit for the debacle but didn't follow through, and high pressure sales to buy salon products. I will admit that my wife never followed through on a meeting with the manager to get the credit, but everything had already been covered by the phone and it would have been uncomfortable for our daughter and her to go in and confront the stylist yet again. Overall, I think most people won't be terribly disappointed- it's not the worst, but it's certainly not the best, either. For the money, I have found better deals with better quality tech's.
