Pretty good food, cute patio 11/26/2007

Most of the restaurants on/near Sunset Plaza are bad, but Mirabelle is like a 1/2 step to MAYBE a full step above the rest. What i really like is its quasi-subterranean location - the covered patio/bar is great for lunch and the indoor area to the left is more like a regular restuarant experience. The ahi tartare is pretty good but what I really like more than anything is the complimentary tapenade they serve w/the bread -- sooo yummy! I could just walk in, order a drink and have that as my meal and i'd be all set. Pros: Fantastic tapenade Cons: Smells smoky inside more

Eh...it's alright. 11/23/2007

So Brit's new favorite stop-over on the Sunset Strip serves some fine food but it's nothing to write home about. The daily lunch menu is good for occasional dining but the value is too average for the cost of the meal. The service is great however. Good for large groups (large being like 8-10). more

Good food and people watching! 11/6/2007

Good food! The chicken wrap is delicious and their salads are too! Good for people watching. If you sit near the bar area outside, be careful as it is a smoking area which ruins the atomsphere! more

Very good food, slow service 8/6/2007

When I stopped into Mirabelle today, I had an overall enjoyable experience. The "feel" of the restaurant is very nice, and relaxing. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was a very nice pasta dish with a slight spicy flavor to it, and my father ordered the French Onion soup and Crab Cake, both of which I tasted and both were very good. The only thing that wouldn't make this restaurant 5-stars is because of the slow service, although we were one of the few that were dining there at that time. Also there were some flies persistently flying around the two of us and our food, which is to be expected with a place with outdoor dining that is not closed off from the indoors. more

Amazing food! Great patio! 7/8/2007

I went here with my parents. They are extremely well traveled foodies who only eat at the best restaurants. Whenever they come into town I have a panic attack picking out a restaurant. I wasn't going to go there because I was afraid this was more a of a lunch place. Boy was I wrong! We sat on the patio which was beautiful and relaxed. My mom and I had the raspberry mojitos which were very yummy (if you read my other posts you'll see I LOVE mojitios and have them everywhere I go.) The tapenade/tabbouleh they serve with the bread was great. We started with the short ribs appetizer... oh my goss the flavor was out of this world. I had the pumpkin seed salmon, my dad had the mussels, both were amazing. And we finished with souffle. I love souffle and this was some of the best. Anyways, definitely go here with no worries, we loved everything we had and can't wait to go back! Pros: THE FOOD! The outside patio (though if you are bothered by cigarette smoke... beware) Cons: Nothing really that I can think of! more

Great food, Slow Service 6/29/2007

I have lunch at Mirabelle occassionally and the food excellent, but the service is really slow-- even when it's not busy. It doesn't even help to tell them you are in a hurry--they're still slow. Pros: Food, Sangria Cons: Service more

Enjoyable 6/28/2007

I had a pretty good lunch here the other day. The restaurant had a variety of pastas and sandwiches, and even wraps-- which is what I ordered. I was surprised by the huge amount of food, which I could not finish. The service was kind a little slower that I would have expected. I would have thought that we would get our food much quicker since it was lunchtime and there weren't many people, but I was wrong. The food was tasty enough to make me forget about the wait, however, so I might go back. Pros: familiar, tasty food Cons: slow service more

great patio seating 3/20/2007

My boss treated me for lunch here one day, and I was always curious of eating here because I passed by it everyday on the way to work. Cozy rustic late-night sanctuary 12/5/2006

Was visiting LA for the first time and went to have dinner with a friend. Headed toward Santa Monica. An hour driving later at 11pm and we are still at a loss. Last-minute phone recommendation from a friend led us to Mirabelle's. Found it cozy and relaxing, with a nice ramshackle wood interior and low lights. Pro service from a waiter with a southern accent, prices aren't cheap but neither are they unreasonable... pasta bolognese and tuna steak were simple, solid, and well executed. Good place to go if you have $60 to spend for two. Glad to have found this spot. Cheers. more

  • The Scene
Walk down the handful of steps at this Sunset standby and enter a world of elegant dining with a touch of kitsch--Andy Warhol would dig the '80s-inspired lip-shaped sculpture. The glitzy pre-nightclub set sticks to the bar, while industry-ites and B-list celebs clutter the adjoining open-air restaurant and patio. Fresh seafood, daily oyster specials and classic entrees are the backbone of the American bistro fare. Jalapeno-spiced calamari is served with forgettable cocktail sauce, but the meaty blue crab cakes paired with tangy papaya relish and sweet chili butter are a hit. As an entree, tasty herb-encrusted Chilean sea bass, served on a bed of ratatouille, is a fish-lover's dream. The generous slab of grilled New York sirloin couldn't find a better companion than truffle mashed potatoes. Lamb lovers will enjoy the Colorado rack, simmered in its own rich juices and served atop a creamy pistachio risotto.
