Mirabelle has never disappointed me. 11/17/2009

I work pretty close to Mirabelle so I often make it a lunch destination. Flavor is king, of course, and I'll get to that in a second but I also like Mirabelle for their atmosphere. It's never too busy at lunch and we love to sit in their enclosed patio. When it comes to food I'd highly recommend love their Braised Rib Sandwich for my meat lovers and my fish lovers should get the Baked Salmon Salad. Nom nom! Pros: patio, decor, food! more

The Most Fantastic Veggie Sandwich 11/6/2009

Choosing Mirabelle for lunch was a spur of the moment decision. A coworker and friend of mine and I decided to go somewhere nice for our meal, since it was a gorgeous Friday afternoon and we really did not want to go to boring Subway yet again. We surveyed the lunch menu that included salads like a classic Caesar, a chopped salad, a salmon salad, sandwiches, wraps, and pastas. One of the kind popped out from the restaurant after a few minutes, very warmly greeted us and told us the specials. My friend was lured in by the delicious tune of chicken quesadilla and kobe burger on the lunch specials and I agreed. We were treated with the kindest and most prompt service imaginable. My friend ordered the chicken quesadilla special while I ordered the veggie sandwich that is on the regular menu. We received a basket full of warm slices of fresh bread, a cold dish of butter, and another dish of olive tapenade. The second I tasted all three in combination, my mouth nearly exploded from delight. If the bread and appetizer were this good, I couldn’t even imagine how good the actual meal would be! And I was surprised at how quickly the food came out. My friend and I happily chomped away at our meals, her chicken quesadilla, my veggie sandwich. The bread on my sandwich was pillow-soft and the grilled vegetables added rich texture while the pesto sauce accentuated the flavors of the vegetables. My friend said that the quesadilla was great, as well, and indeed, it looked quite stuffed with plenty of cheese, chicken, and a healthy amount of guacamole and sour cream on the side. All the while, we had attentive and caring servers rounding out the entire amazing and delicious experience. Pros: Beautiful dining area, olive tapenade, veggie sandwich Cons: None--other than I live so far away! more

My standby place for west hollywood lunch 10/29/2009

The pros and cons say it all. The chopped salad is my favorite in the city- get it with the chicken, love it for the blue cheese and candied walnuts. When I am feeling particularly starving, I add in a side of hummus, almonds and pita. I rarely stray from these favorites. When a meal satisfies a craving again and again, it has to be quality. The ambiance is a bit dark, but a pleasant respite from the hubbub of Sunset. If you get the chopped salad to go, make sure to ask for a healthy sized portion, otherwise it is fit for a size 0 and really aren't we all Kings? Pros: Great chopped salad, hummus and burgers Cons: A bit expensive and occasionally sparse on portions more

Crab Bisque = AWESOME! 2/27/2009

This place is close to our offices and has become a regular lunch spot for my coworkers. They always seem to have an awesome selection of lunch specials during the week, and the portion size is enough to share. Our favorites include the crab bisque, chicken dijon sandwich, sweet potato fries and the burger. Great service and friendly wait staff make this a great place to grab lunch during the week! Pros: Great lunch specials, friendly staff, Cons: none more

A very good Happy Hour 9/18/2008

Check out the review of this and many other happy hours at: happiest hours(dot)blog spot(dot)com - no spaces between words, but City Search won't allow it any other way. We loved the interior of this open, airy place, and the service was incredible - fast, friendly, seemed happy to be working there. Unfortunately, because it is also sort of open air, a few parties were smoking (which ruins any space in which I'm trying to enjoy good food). We had two martinis (one Greek and one watermelon) which were GREAT, calamari, hummus, the cheese plate, and they brought out bread, butter and tapenade, and for two of us it was $30 plus tip, so we left forty. The calamari was so-so, but the hummus and cheese plate were both very good. Here's the problem - the prices on the drinks are very good, but the appetizers were barely discounted from the regular menu. Still, we left sated and happy for twenty bucks each, so can't complain. Worth checking out. We'll probably return soon. more

why mess with perfection? THE NEW SALMON SALAD??? 5/23/2008

i used to crave the salmon salad at mirabelle as did my coworkers and friends... I know at least 10 people who would order it at least once a week. the combination of flavors was unique (and divine!) with the vinagrette, fava beans, sweet corn and perfectly grilled salmon... in the last month or two the chef has changed the recipe. he or she swapped out the fava beans for green beans and tomatoes and the lovely light vinagrette for a heavy mayonnaise based goop. I can't express how disappointed i am in the NEW salmon salad. Please bring back the old one, mirabelle!!! there is simply nothing that compares.... Pros: good bread Cons: bad salmon salad more

Great food and service 5/16/2008

This is one Sunset Strip restaurant that hasn't disappointed me. I've only gone once for lunch, but I loved the chicken wrap (with avocado! and bacon!). I definitely recommend the sweet potato fries for a side - they're much tastier than French fries and I've been told that they're healthier for you anyway. The decor is elegant and fun at the same time, and the service is fantastic - they really want to make sure that you enjoy your meal. The food took a while, but the complimentary bread and tapenade were definitely enough to hold me over. Pros: Service; ambience; sweet potato fries Cons: Pricey (expectedly so) more

  • The Scene
Walk down the handful of steps at this Sunset standby and enter a world of elegant dining with a touch of kitsch--Andy Warhol would dig the '80s-inspired lip-shaped sculpture. The glitzy pre-nightclub set sticks to the bar, while industry-ites and B-list celebs clutter the adjoining open-air restaurant and patio. Fresh seafood, daily oyster specials and classic entrees are the backbone of the American bistro fare. Jalapeno-spiced calamari is served with forgettable cocktail sauce, but the meaty blue crab cakes paired with tangy papaya relish and sweet chili butter are a hit. As an entree, tasty herb-encrusted Chilean sea bass, served on a bed of ratatouille, is a fish-lover's dream. The generous slab of grilled New York sirloin couldn't find a better companion than truffle mashed potatoes. Lamb lovers will enjoy the Colorado rack, simmered in its own rich juices and served atop a creamy pistachio risotto.
