Editorial review from Citysearch 12/14/2013

I had a similar experience to Tara K. Our arrival was December 6 2013. It was raining when we arrived and found parking to be treacherous and limited. It was so poorly lit I had to have my wife navigate me out because I could not turn around. Once inside we were greeted by a rather friendly hostess who took us to our table. For appetizer I ordered crab soup and she ordered oysters Rockefeller. My soup was just vegetable soup with crabmeat on top just ok nothing special. My wife did enjoy the oysters. For entrée I ordered salmon and crab cake. She ordered the filet with crab cake. When my food arrived I must say I was eager to bite in a and enjoy but, that's where things deteriorated rapidly. The salmon was grossly undercooked and raw in the middle. The crab cake was ok not great but ok. When the waiter arrived I asked him to please make sure my salon was fully cooked upon return. As I waited my wife was trying to enjoy the filet and a crab cake with meat juice. The filet was ok but, the crab cake tasted like steak being that it was on top (not stated by the waiter) not a good combo. When my salmon arrived the second time it was still slightly undercooked. I stated to the waiter to remove the fish and take it off my bill. He said ""No problem"". long story short. The waiter said he could not remove the fish because I had taken a bite. Wait, What. The manager walked over to me and asked me if I had ordered the fish medium or semi-cooked. I mean really I had never heard of such a thing. Just wait this gets better. She explained it was my fault I had taken a bit and I must pay for it OR ELSE. Well, by this point we are back and forth getting louder and louder until Mr. Boston came over and wanted in on the action. He was insulting and said I was a layer and I had eaten the fish and refused a refund. I got up and said take this off my bill or I will voice a complaint. He said I am the owner and got DIRECTLY IN MY FACE and said NO. Pay the bill and leave. Now this is in front of employees and patrons. He tried to humiliate my wife and I in front of everyone. He then yelled call the police. I wanted him to. I wanted to settle this without it escalating any further. He walked over to my wife and yelled at her. How rude can you be. This is a 5 star establishment. By now he yelled and I mean yelled get out REDNECK. NO LIE he said REDNECK clear as day. Racial slur and slander. I was contacted by a lawyer to cease and stop all negative reviews. Can you believe this guy. Please if anyone reading this has similar experiences please contact me. I have gotten no apologies. just threats. I would not take the time to write this if I was not so, passionate. more

Very Disappointed 12/17/2011

We went to dine at the Milton Inn after receiving a $100 gift certificate. We aren't usually into gourmet dining but we figured since it was free we would go. After eating there I would have traded the gift certificate for a $20 Bill Bateman's one and I would have been much more satisfied. So, let me list the good things first. The cream of crab soup was delicious, the lobster tail was awesome, and the waiter was also great. A few things came out wrong so he gave us a free creme brulee, which was delicious. Now the bad. The prices are outrageous for only mediocre food. The potatoes, which were some sort of mashed potatoes with cheese, tasted like they were instant. The soup, though good, I could have gotten the same quality for a third of the price at the bar down the street. The filet mignon, which I asked for to be medium came out practically raw. When they took it back and brought it out again, they had just charred the outside and the inside still wasn't cooked. Also, it has NO seasoning on it at all, not even a little salt to bring out the flavor of the meat. My boyfriend got the rack of lamb. Which tasted good, but looked REALLY raw. I know it is supposed to be cooked rare so I figured it was okay. Well, 12 hours later he was still in and out of the bathroom evacuating the bad food from his bowel. We are assuming it was the lamb because that was the only think I didn't eat and I wasn't sick. So, if you are thinking of a nice restaurant, save yourself the drive and the money, and go to a place with good food. Milton Inn is NOT WORTH IT! more

NOT OUR CHOICE 9/27/2011

The Milton Inn has always been extremely OVERRATED . The food is UNINSPIRED and at best very AVERAGE. The allure is an old farm house which provides a quaint atmosphere. Years ago, previous owners, would provide an above average dining experience and unfortunately that reputation is what carries the Milton Inn today. Have not dined there in about 5 years because of how bad the value was. I am posting this because we will be dining at the MI this week (not our choice) as part of a celebration and will be reporting back on the experience. I expect it to be AVERAGE to BELOW AVERAGE food. POOR, INATTENTIVE service and WAY OVERPRICED. more

Romantic Atmosphere, Consistent & Delicious Food 2/24/2008

We've dined at the Milton Inn on three occasions. Each time we have had a fantastic meal, from start to finish. The restaurant is in an old farm house, so the dining rooms are separate and intimate and hold only a few tables. Each room has it's own unique character. The back dining room by the fireplace is an excellent choice for a cold winter evening. The front dining room (the blue room) can tend to be a little drafty, so ask not to be seated in this room. The wine list is fabulous, and the prices seem to be fairly marked however, they do not have every bottle on the list so don't get your heart set on only one particular bottle. Additionally, they offer a nice bottled beer selection but do not have any draught beer. It would be a nice touch for those beer snobs (ie a nice belgium on tap, etc) They make simple cocktails, but nothing extravagant. The specials also sell out quickly, so order them fast and first. The cream of crab soup is one of the best around, the touch of sherry makes it nearly perfect. The mussels are also a great starter dish, as is the foie gras. The duck, steak, pasta and phyllo dinners are all delcious. All around, this is a great winter dining spot or for that special occasion. more

Fantastic, a very speacial place 2/6/2008

My husband took me to The Milton Inn to propose. I had no idea of course, but what a wonderful restaurant. The food is wonderful, the service is great. If looking for a romantic dining experience, The Milton Inn is the place to go. My husband and I will be married 13 years this year, and we will be dining at The Milton Inn to celebrate. more

This place is wonderful !!!! 11/20/2007

We went just for a night out without the kids. We got such Great Food the service was friendly and the place is like walking into a different time . Its so nice to know there is a place we can go and get away from all the pressures of everyday life and just enjoy everything!! The steak i had was a very large cowboy chop that was cooked to perfection I had it Oscar style with Jumbo lump crab ,bernaise sauce with asparagus it was the best meal i have had in baltimore . My wife had a seafood dish with shrimp lobster crab rockfish and mussles in a dill cream sauce she loved every bite well all except what i ate and what i had was wonderful . The restaurant was very busy that night but all our needs were taken care of . We never had to ask for anything . This is a truly a Maryland Treasure We were in the bar after dinner and got to meet the chef he was so kind and truley seemed to care about the restaurant and the work he is doing . Brian Boston is his name he gave me a card and told me if i was ever in again to please call him to make the reservation so he could take care of us ! I have been to many a resturant and thats a first for me it seemed like he knew many of the people in the bar area and they were all glad to see him and he was happy to see them. One thing not to miss is the Hot apple dessert they bake it to order with fresh caramel sauce its one of the best desserts i have ever had . This is truly a special place ! Pros: Everything Cons: the only thing was parking i had to wait 4 min or so for a spot more
