We went to dine at the Milton Inn after receiving a $100 gift certificate. We aren't usually into gourmet dining but we figured since it was free we would go. After eating there I would have traded the gift certificate for a $20 Bill Bateman's one and I would have been much more satisfied.
So, let me list the good things first. The cream of crab soup was delicious, the lobster tail was awesome, and the waiter was also great. A few things came out wrong so he gave us a free creme brulee, which was delicious.
Now the bad. The prices are outrageous for only mediocre food. The potatoes, which were some sort of mashed potatoes with cheese, tasted like they were instant. The soup, though good, I could have gotten the same quality for a third of the price at the bar down the street. The filet mignon, which I asked for to be medium came out practically raw. When they took it back and brought it out again, they had just charred the outside and the inside still wasn't cooked. Also, it has NO seasoning on it at all, not even a little salt to bring out the flavor of the meat.
My boyfriend got the rack of lamb. Which tasted good, but looked REALLY raw. I know it is supposed to be cooked rare so I figured it was okay. Well, 12 hours later he was still in and out of the bathroom evacuating the bad food from his bowel. We are assuming it was the lamb because that was the only think I didn't eat and I wasn't sick.
So, if you are thinking of a nice restaurant, save yourself the drive and the money, and go to a place with good food. Milton Inn is NOT WORTH IT!
