Perhaps I am spoiled, coming from Philadelphia, a city with, in my opinion, some fantastic restaurants, and I went to this restaurant with those high expectations, based on reviews from some locals. I was however, greatly disappointed with the food/value/noise of Mickey and Mooch. The first thing you notice in the restaurant is the noise factor. The live music, heard throughout the entire restaurant, may be amusing to some, but it was a decided distraction and serious impediment to dinner conversation. The tables are very close together, so you can't help but be an unfortunate eavesdropper in the conversations of the surrounding tables. The appetizer came out when we were in the middle of our dinner, my steak ($37.00) was overdone, and the crabcake that I ordered with my steak was barely bigger than a silver dollar (for $8.50). The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the dessert- a piece of chocolate cake that had to weigh three pounds and will serve as an after-dinner treat for the next four nights. Again, perhaps I am expecting a higher-level of cuisine, but I was very disappointed in this restaurant, and hope that it is not indicative of the ""fine dining"" in the Lake Norman area.
Pros: Food wasn't bad, in and of itself, but not a good value.
Cons: Noisy, tables are too close together, service seems a step behind on everything.
