Massage Envy - Buckhead

I purchased gift cards for 2 friends. Both had a bad experience. The first was told she had horrible feet and needed a pedicure. The comment was made during the massage. The massage therapist went on to complain during my friends massage about clients not tipping. The therapist I had on my next visit also complained during the massage about clients not tipping. He also used the F and B word to describe those clients. I wanted to leave. I mentioned my experience with the manager. The second who I had purchased a gift card felt uncomfortable with their massage therapist. The therapist's movements were inapprioprate. I called and left a message for the manager to return my call. my call has not been returned. After this I stopped use of my membership. However I could not cancel the membership because of the Massage Envy contract and have accumulated 8 prepaid massage services. At this point my membership agreement expired. Last month after yet another issue,I was told by the manager (Dove) that my membership cancellation would be taken care of. This month another deduction was made from my account. Upon calling, and speaking to a very friendly associate, I was told that my 8 prebooked massage must be redeemed by October 25th 2010. That allows 25 days to redeem them. I have the choice of losing the massage, or redeeming them in an environment that I feel uncomfortable. Thinking more about the situation that led to the original problem, I would not feel comfortable offering the prepaid massages to a friend. It has been explained that Massage Envy would not allow me to transfer them as gifts any way. So! I am at a loss. I am sorely disappointed with the unflexible, poor customer service, and condescending quoting of Massage Envy policy. I recommend seeking more professional,service oriented,caring places to spend well earned time and money. more

This is to Mr. West. I was unable to leave acomment on your blog, so here it is. I hope this finds you. I think you should surely cancel your membership. Talking to these people is harder that talking to a brick wall. The motto of the company should be absentmindedness and mediocrity. You may be aware that Massage Envy is now offering facials. Well, not legally they are. You see, although they hold a business license, the facility is not licensed by the State Board of Cosmetology. I think this amounts to a misdemeanor charge of public nuisance for endangering the health and safety of the public. Do Not Go There Again. This is what is most important. The State Board of Massage Therapy does not have any sanitary or disinfecting guidelines, but the Cosmetology Board does. This place is really, really dirty. I wouldn't get a massage there if it were free. You should also know that Jessica-the manager-is Pat's daughter. Pat's last name is Saulson, like her daughter's. She is using her husband Norman Klemmer's name to throw you off. They have paid there employees less than minimum wage-against federal statute. And you should really check out the manager's lewd online picture at the website below. She has also had three DUI's. She also "tweets" about XANAX and drunkenness. I booked a couples massage, but they didn't tell me until I got there that they don't offer couples massages. And they charged me anyway! It took me two months to get them to refund half of my money. Pros: Cheap Cons: Inflexible and poor management more

Kim is the best therapist there. She has wonderful hands and listens to what you need. I have been to many therapist all over and she is so far ahead of anything I have ever tried before. I have been a member at Massage Envy, Buckhead, for a few months now and I absolutly love it there! I have found a regular therapist that fits my needs, but if she's not available then who ever they put me with is great too! Due to the economy, I needed to freeze my membership. I went in and signed the form - asking ALL the questions necessary to freeze my membership BEFORE the next scheduled payment was done (Friday at 2am). I was also told I couldn't use any of my prepaid during the freeze. So, I asked if I could use 2 of my 3 prepaid on Thursday and have the freeze start right after and to make sure I was not charged on Friday for March. Last Friday, I was checking my VISA bill and lo and behold... Massage Envy charged me this month! I called and left a message to please call me back to rectify this situation. NO CALL BACK. I called a couple days later and got a "The manager will need to research this issue and contact you within the hour..." (It's been 54 hours and I still have yet to receive that promised call). I am so glad I found Massage Envy at Buckhead. The massages at this clinic are always customized to meet your needs: if you have a problem area your therapist can work on that, but if you're just wanting to relax or de-stress they can do that, too! Most of the time you can just walk-in, but on weekends make sure to call early (or try to book by Friday morning for a Saturday or Sunday appointment). Also, the therapists are familiar with a variety of tehcniques - I try to be specific when I call about what I'm looking for because they really try to match you up with the best therapist for you. The BEST part is that the therapists listen to you while you're in your session and if you want something different (like deeper pressure) they'll change and they DON'T get offended. The front desk staff are all lovely and give the clinic a professional, friendly environment. I have received massages at some of the best spas in the country and can honestly say that Aisha at Massage Envy in Buckhead is as good(if not better) than any massage therapist I have ever had. She has been with Massage Envy since they opened nearly 4 years ago and is excellent. She takes the time upfront to listen to how you like your massage and what areas to focus on and then gives you a truly personalized, amazing massage. I went to the location in Buckhead and this was the worst experience of my life. Not only was the massage horrible as i walk out the office complained about me not leaving a tip and did not want to service me as if i would ever go back anyway. I explained a tip is a courteous not a payment. Manangement is the WORSt more

I think that the Massage for the Cure event was such a great idea. I have participated in the walk for the cure for the past two years after losing a relative to breast cancer so I was excited for another opportunity to give money to a great cause. Especially since I got a great massage out of it!! Everyone was so friendly there and I left feeling so relaxed. I will definately be back for more massages now that I found this place! more

i am not one to get massages regularly, but after a stressful week i had a migrane and a pinched nerve in my back. i decided to check out massage envy because i mean hey why not for $39?? my therapist aisha was incredible. not only was my headache gone and my back better, but my whole body felt like jello. i have seen a few other therapists here and have been impressed with every one of them, the front desk has been great with recommending different people for all of my different ailments. now i go once a month and can't be happier with the service i have had! If you ever get a knot in your skin this place is probably great! Since I generally get them in my muscles I found that their deepest skin massage just won't do. It seems like a low price till you factor in that you'll need another massage immediatly from another place to at least get rid of the aggrivation that you just got robbed out of $40 and wasted an hour of your day. Here is what I really love the most about Massage Envy in Buckhead, when I walk into the front desk area, I don't feel at all pressured by my outer appearances. This clinic is not reminiscent of an exclusive spa in the sense that you are paying top dollar for a "fluff" massage. At Massage Envy in Buckhead, you're getting a better massage for less money. I feel like every single person who enjoys a massage here is different from the next, and Massage Envy accomodates everyone, making them feel good about themselves. The front desk staff is friendly, and personable and they always try their best to match you with a therapist that will meet your specific needs. I really enjoy the casual atmosphere, without the pretentiousness that you will often find at a spa. I would highly recommend a visit, and at $39 for an hour massage introductory rate, how could you resist?! I have been a member of Massage Envy for over a year and I highly recommend it to people who believe that massage is not a luxury but essential to staying healthy and vital. The front desk staff is fun and more than accommodating; they will do their best to find a therapist that fits into your schedule, even when you call at the last minute. They have extremely experienced therapists--10+ years-- and relatively green ones, but everyone is looking for something different. I happen to want deep tissue work because it compliments my yoga practice. Massage Envy has a number of specialists in this area, but they also offer Swedish massage too. When too much desk and computer work leave me with a tight back and shoulder pain, there are many therapists on staff that can help me out. I highly recommend this massage studio contrary to the questionable previous reviews. more

I have to concur with the previous review about this particular location of Massage Envy. I too have experienced awful massages at the hands of approximately 5-6 of their male therapists. The therapists are not knowledgeable on the different massage techniques used in the different styles of massage (e.g., deep tissue, swedish, etc). What the therapists lack in skill they try to disguise by soaking you in massage oil so you can't really feel what it is they are trying to do. Their techniques were all over the place. I also complained to management and was rewarded with a laugh and a comment that no one else has complained about their therapists. I find that hard to believe. While the cost benefit and convenience of a Massage Envy membership is nice, I think I'd rather pay top dollar at a real spa and get a massage less often than continue to subject myself to this torture. Honestly, the last massage I had there, I wanted to be over within the first five minutes as it was more painful and disjointed than anything I had ever experienced. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. The absolute worst massage experiences I have ever had. I have been a member of Massage Envy for several years, joining in Tampa where I lived at the time. Had amazing massage therapists there and was glad to see there was a location close to my new home in Brookhaven when I moved to Atlanta six months ago. The Buckhead location is pathetic. Tried approximately six of the male therapists at the Buckhead location and each was unbelievably pathetic. Most must be newly out of massage school because they seemed to not know one technique from another and each time I came home feeling like a greased up chicken. I complained to the assistant manager, and all she could do was laugh. So as you can see, they really do not care what experience their customers have. AVOID this location at all costs; you will be glad you did. more
