Editorial review from Citysearch 3/12/2013

I bought a voucher for 3 full service Oil Changes, Two tire rotations, radiator drain & fill, etc. thru Living Social\r \r I never received a punch card nor did anyone ask me for it the FIRST time I came in for service. The voucher I printed had no local or correct contact information. It took awhile, but I located everything I needed and made it in for my first appointment back in October. I tried to get back in for my second in February, but couldn't get an appointment. TODAY, March 12th, I had an appointment scheduled for 8am for my second oil change.\r \r I made the mistake of only bringing my email confirmation (from you) with me. The young lady there found the record of my last service, but apparently you don’t include voucher numbers or any of that info with the service record. She kept asking for my card, which I told her I never received.\r \r She said the owner would be in shortly. I waited until a gentleman arrived that I can only assume was the owner as he never introduced himself or acknowledged I was even there.\r \r The young lady came back to me after I overheard him telling her he wasn’t going to be responsible…\r \r She offered to call Living Social and see if they had a record of my voucher. At that moment, I had already been there for twenty minutes, I was done. I will not be coming back. I feel I was treated shabbily from the start. It took forever to get an appointment and then this.\r \r If you don’t want to honor folks with these vouchers then don’t offer the special. I noticed it’s still being offered as I could pull it up on my computer while I was waiting. I pity those that get sucked in. I would suggest that for them you include the voucher number on their service records. That way, should they lose their cards, or not being able to access their voucher number, you would have it. I think that’s any easy solution and could easily eliminate what I went thru this morning.\r \r For some reason my voucher would not come up when I accessed my account at your location, but (of course) as soon as I tried it here at work, it popped right up. I tried to email a copy of it to the email address on my confirmation, but it bounced back. That's how I ended up here. I wanted you to have proof that I wasn’t trying to cheat you out of an oil change. \r \r Instead, I now will be cheated out of two….As I’m not coming back down there again. I live in midtown and work in Germantown. I have no desire to be inconvenienced and treated as if I’m the one trying to run a scam.\r \r This is no way to do business or to treat customers whether they have a coupon or not. I would think the OWNER would be more concerned with customer satisfaction and retention. \r \r This “Auto Care Super Saver” turned out to be a super waste of my time.\r \r \r \r . more

Very Helpful! 3/1/2012

I noticed down below that someone said Madison doesn't honor their warranties. I felt the need to clear this up. I had a check engine light on a while back and it turned out to be one of my catalytic converters. I had this repair shop replace it. A few weeks ago I went back to them with another check engine light when I failed inspection. They found the converter was failing. It had been a little over a year since I'd had it replaced so I thought I was screwed. But Madison went way beyond what I expected and warrantied the converter (even though I was beyond the warranty). And as agreed, I left the car with them for a couple of days and they even took it through inspection for me! I am really happy with the work they've done. I can't say everyone will have the same experience as me, but at least in my case, they DO honor their warranties! and they do a very good job and are nice people. more

Their pick up and drop off service is great! 11/16/2011

I own a 1998 Subaru Legacy that requires some more work due to it's age. I wouldn't take it anywhere else than Madison Automotive to get worked on. The hardest part of taking my car to the shop is always getting someone from work to pick me up and to get back to the shop. With Madison, this is included - no more favors to ask for - no more lost time! more

Thanks for the quick repairs 11/15/2011

I really appreciate the good work you did on my car, as well as how quickly it was finished. You had it done ahead of time and that is a GREAT help when you are trying to get the children to school and yourself to work. I also think it is wonderful that you take the time to explain what is wrong and how you are going to repair it. You treated me with respect and honesty. I have decided to sign up for your loyalty program as my car is getting older and needing a little more TLC. I am happy to find a business that still takes pride in their work and cares about the customer. Thanks again, D.J. more

Honest & Trustworthy 11/15/2011

I have a 2001 Lexus IS 300. I am in outside sales, so my car requires a lot of maintance. I have been taking my car to Madison Automotive for 5 years. I have always received the best service! I used to take my car to the dealer but they are way over priced and try to sell you more than you actually need. Terry at Madison Automotive has always been honest and straight forward with me. I also signed up for their loyalty program. Being single and on my own, it has saved me from having to shell out thousand of dollars for repairs or regular up-keep and maintance. I would highly recommend Madison Automotive to all my friends. They also take very good care of my parents cars as well!!!!!! more

Very Satisfied 11/14/2011

I've been taking my '97 Oldsmobile Intrigue to Madison Automotive (midtown) for about 3 years now and I've never had a problem. I had some trouble in the past with one of the bigger chain automotive shops and I was overjoyed to find a locally owned and operated shop that does quality work and has people I feel I can trust. Terry is a delight to talk to and they always keep me informed about what's going on with my vehicle, give me fairly accurate time frames for the repairs, and (the thing I love the most) they don't do unnecessary repairs. If they see something important that needs attention, they let you know, but they're not pushy and they're very good about explaining things. You won't spend unneeded money. Also, I work 7am-4:30 most days, and if at all possible, they will give me a ride to work and pick me up to make things easier for me. In closing, I have been extremely happy with all of the work Madison has done for me, have enjoyed getting to know the people there, and will continue to take my car to them (and any future cars, once this one gives up) in the future. I highly recommend them. more

Let me package my review of this shop in a list of best practices they should consider following if they wish to maintain the long-term health of their business: 1. DO NOT say that you do perform classic car restoration, when in fact your facility does not even have a spray booth. 2. DO NOT say you have tons of experience working on foreign when in actuality your lot is full of 99% GMC, Ford, and Chrysler. 3. DO NOT guarantee a new customer that they will get the service they ask for (especially when that customer drove and hour and a half) and fail to kindly call that potential (eager to spend money at your shop) customer and inform him that you are not, on this day, at right capacity to service his needs. 4. DO NOT go out of your way to employ strategies that in the end amount to a vain attempt to make the customer feel like a novice idiot. 5. DO NOT be the owner of the establishment (who did not say a single word to me the entire time I was there) and walk around the shop smoking a cigarette while inspecting cars. Especially mine. Last I checked, gasoline and spilled oil are both quite flammable and potentially explosive. 6. DO NOT imply that the customer should get rid of his or her car because the issues the vehicle has are not in the slightest insurmountable, but in fact far outside the capabilities of your geriatric shop. If this shop cannot enact these (and most likely a host of other DO NOTs) then they should knock their shop down and put up a park. If you can't tell, I had a horrible experience with these people. more

Doesn't honor warranty nor guarantees 8/17/2010

I took my car to Madison Automotive to have it repaired because it was overheating. They did a diagnosis and said the thermostat was the cause, and guaranteed that it would fix it. Unfortunately after getting the car back, it still was over heating the exact same way as before. They failed the work with me in resolving the issue after I took my car back and they finally said they didn't know what was wrong with it. So they guessed it was the thermostat now I'm out $400. The prices are not comparable to other shops, they are far higher. Beware of this shop! more
