A good mechanic shop 4/17/2013

After owning several cars and been to many mechanic shops over the years, I must say Minhs is on point. It's a professional environment with quality work and service. It's certainly more money than I'm use to paying for services from smaller repairs shops but I'm sure their overhead is probably higher. Overall, well worth it for me for the level of service. more

I wish I can give no stars. .Avoid this place like the plague. They?re very expensive. The prices are comparable to the dealerships. Their shop is clean but you only pay for the cleanliness. They speak nice and are friendly but you pay only for their friendliness. Too many service advisors/writers and they work on commission. more

Really not as good as they think 7/16/2012

I went here to have a Mini Cooper checked out that I was buying for my dad. I live out-of-state and wasn't allowed to bring the car to the shop I trust close to where my parents live in Nassau County by the people who were selling the car. I took the car to Minh's after an internet search showed that they claim to be Mini specialists. I got a relative clean bill of health from them regarding the car, even for items that I had researched were particularly notorious on Minis for going bad. Less than 2000 miles after my dad drove the car, I had it checked out by our local mechanic when I went to visit my folks. Almost all the items that I had asked Minh's to particularly pay attention to were found to be in need of repair. When I confronted Vinny, the manager, about this, he stood by his garage. He also denigrated the mechanic that I trust and that my entire family goes to after I told him about a belt that wasn't meant for Minis. Cartalk saved my car from the constant abuse. I've been overly depressed with repeated visit to the Audi dealer in Brooklyn. After trying out Minh's I am very impressed with their customer service and their appreciation for my business. Great staff and service. more

Car purrs like a kitten now 4/18/2012

I've found my new mechanic! Very impressed with this place! Brought my car in right when they opened on a Saturday at 8am and it was done by noon.\r \r Got a 30k service in my mini cooper and it was less than $280. They changed oil, air filter, gave it a tune up, fuel injector cleaning and overall safety inspection. Car purrs like a kitten now. \r \r I'm convinced the dealer (Manhattan Mini) where i bought this and 'supposedly' got service under warranty didn't do squat. more

Great Mechanics. 1/31/2012

Look...nobody likes it when their sled breaks down or needs professional work. But, when it does happen, Minhs Auto really does provide a great combination of superior workmanship, competitive pricing, and compassion. This is a rare combination when it comes to the auto repair industry. These guys work on most european cars. I bring my Audi A4 here and I recommend them highly. more

Number 1 Destination 12/24/2011

This is just a phenomenal auto repair company. They did a great job on the repairs for my bmw for a reasonable price, which is hard enough to find these days, but their customer service exceeds any service company I've ever known! They were very timely with their updates. Customer service and how a company interacts with the community is really important to me, so to match such high quality service with the overall value of the repairs makes this place my #1 destination for all bmw service! more

So after my experience here, all's I can say is....wow. 40 bucks to get new brackets attached to my exhaust system and stop that annoying clankity-clank I was listening to. I said, $40 including labor? Yep, they said. I said, what about the last mechanic that told me my whole exhaust system would need to be replaced because of this? They lied, he said. Wow... more

Excellent pick 9/25/2011

I've brought my 2005 Audi A4 and 1997 Honda Civic in for service. Matthew was friendly, competent, honest, quick, and clearly communicated what service was required at which mileage intervals. I gave him leeway to perform whatever services were needed on both cars, and was pleasantly surprised that minimal action was required, meaning I spent far less money than I had been bracing for. His follow up thank you notes are a nice, professional touch more

My experience 6/6/2011

I have been very happy with this place. So much so, I hesitate to write this review because the one critique I have is that they are so busy. Like many of the others on here, I'm always worried about getting duped by mechanics since I know nothing about cars. At Minhs Auto, I've never felt like they were trying to swindle me. The first time I went here it was because my check engine light was on. He said the code indicated a leak in the exhaust system (I think - shows you how little I know about cars). He suggested I just try buying a new gas cap from the dealer, which would be cheaper than having him do the smoke test and is often the cause of this problem. If it didn't work and the light came back on, then I should come back. He didn't charge anything for this consultation and I was impressed that he didn't try to get me to pay for a smoke test. I've been coming back ever since. more

My new mechanic 4/7/2011

As a woman I've always been a little weary of taking my car to get looked at in fear of being taken advantage of. (i.e. There's a tiny mythological creature in your exhaust) Anyone? This is the first time my bmw has given me problems ... Anyway. I called early in the week and made an appt. for that Friday. I was greeted by Vinny who was very friendly and they immediately started looking at my car while I waited. I was there for 15-20 mins when Vinny explained to me that my water pump was leaking and I was lucky it hadn't caused any extensive damage. Not only did they not charge me to diagnose my problem (like all these big dealerships usually do) but Vinny took it upon himself to find out if my powertrain warranty covered this problem over to the second owner. It did! So I took my car to the dealership and the problem was fixed that day. For free. Awesome. more

I am one of those people who typically fix their own cars. However, if something is really tricky (or I am feeling lazy) I take my cars to these guys and wow... \r \r This shop is filled with honest, knowledgeable, talented and quick working mechanics and offers reasonable prices too (about half of stealership prices, but not as cheap as the guys who work out of a van in an abandoned parking lot).\r \r Also the top notch services at Minhs are conveniently located close to manhattan. more

Way to go 1/21/2011

I have never felt to taken care of! Being a woman, it is difficult to trust a car mechanic. That is, until you find someone who whips out a book in the middle of a busy day to show you exactly what is wrong with your car before fixing it. After years of going to these guys,I feel more knowledgeable and confident in dealing with small car problems on my own as well as feeling confident my car was getting the proper care when needed. Tam is honest, reliable, professional and a true expert in his field. He'll do wonders with your car and show you how to maintain it. I highly recommend this shop. more

Highly recommend!! 1/16/2011

When I first bought my 2001 PT Cruiser (in 2003, so it's used), I went to Strauss on 4th Avenue. OMG, the wait. Every time I went there, I could plan on 4-5 hours of waiting, and it never made sense. Just disorganized and mismanaged, although the mechanics are fine. Anyway, I decided to give MINHS Auto Care a chance, and plan to stay with them. From the first call (to Adam) to make the appointment, to bringing the car in, it's a very professional operation. They give me a realistic time frame and I usually wait at the Dunkin' Donuts down the street. I haven't had any major problems with the car, but go there for the annual emissions test (takes at best, 45 minutes and I'm out of there). Best to make an appointment before heading over, of course. And I also bring the car in before my annual trip to visit family (1200 miles roundtrip). They've never overcharged me, or scared me into spending ridiculous sums of money for unnecessary repairs. And a couple of times, I've dropped by to check the pressure on my tires. They've been very accommodating and never charged for that. Just an all around nice place and I highly recommend them. more

Overcharges, As Expensive as VW Dealer 1/6/2011

When I recently got my ignition coil replaced, Minh's charged me as much as the VW dealer, which is notorious for overpricing. When I asked Vinnie, the mechanic at Minh's he said that the VW dealers always overcharge. When I told him he was charging me as much as them (only $4 less on a $500 job) he just stared at me and said nothing. If you are going to pay this much, you might as well pay for the quality and guarantee of a dealer. more

Simply the best 8/11/2010

I had my Honda in to the dealer for a recalled airbag, of all things, and they took the liberty of finding $1800 worth of suspension and front-end work in the meantime. Minh's found the *exact same problems*, fixed them for *1/3 the price* (including tune-up, oil change, etc), and got it back to me in one day instead of two. What more can I say? Best shop ever. I'm a customer for life. more

Went there for the first time recently and came away extremely satisfied. The final bill was lower than their estimate and they didn't give me a laundry list of things that needed to be done like other places. super friendly and trustworthy. more
