Grateful for Dr. Rose and staff at Life's Journey Center 12/7/2011

I am very blessed and grateful to have been at Life's Journey Center. My journey started on an island 50 miles off the coast of North Carolina. My life had become completely unmanageable and I had burnt all my bridges with my family and loved ones. Hurricane Irene had just hit and I was literally standing in 2 feet of flood water trying to find a treatment center because I couldn't take the way I was living life anymore. My family and I called many treatment centers inquiring about their services and when I could enter. Every treatment center we called, we either got staff on the phone that said someone would call us back, which they never did, or there was a seven day intake process we had to go through. It wasn't until we called Life's Journey Treatment Center that we got answers to all of our questions and we got help. It wasn't a staff member that answered the phone but it was the owner and head doctor at the facility, Dr. Rose. I got my life back at Life's Journey, along with a positive spiritual sense of well-being and relationship with my family. Dr. Rose and her staff are amazing and I am forever grateful to have been there. Thank you Dr. Rose and staff for helping me regain all positive aspects of my life and showing me my true potential in Life. more

So Thankful for Life's Journey Center and Dr. Rose 11/24/2011

5 STARS for Life's journey center. I am enjoying over 4 years of soberiety. I am so thankful this Thanksgiving for my treatment at Life's Journey Center. Dr. Rose guided me through my soberiety. During my treatment, I got my life back. Dr. Rose encouraged me to put God first and revovery. She encouraged me to get back into the community and my education. Thanks to Dr. Rose and my treatment at her center. I got hired in the comunity, earned my Bachlor's degree at her sober living facility. Today, I am reunited with and enjoying my family. I needed to spend a long time in Palm Springs at Life's Journey Center. I am also a graduate student with a 4.0 gpa...thanks God and Life's Journey Center. If you want to recover, go to Life's Journey Center. Your life will change for the best. more

Run not walk away 9/18/2011

If you really want to get sober stay away from this place. All the problems that you will encounter there will put your mental and physical health as well as your new sobriety at risk. You will be verbally abused daily by the owner and staff. AA/NA are looked down upon and not used in the program. The food is very unhealthy and made by other patients, who do not wear gloves or hairnets. The mattresses are falling apart and are infested with bedbugs. If anyone complains, they and their family are told that they are in relapse mode and should be focusing on their sobriety. more

DEFINETLY RECOMMENED 8/3/2011

Just thought of the Life's Journey Center and decided to send you a note with a heart filled with gratitude. I went through the program at Life's Journey Center in 2003. I am still sober, leaving thoughts of drinking behind with the help of 12 step meetings and my sponsor. I remember Dr. Rose would tell me about the promises in the big book and would ask that I read them nightly. Today, I live by them. Best wishes to all the staff and Dr. Rose, you will always be in my prayers for it takes courage and commitment to do the work you do. more

Forever grateful to Dr. Rose and staff! 7/31/2011

A cherished loved one of ours arrived at Lifes Journey almost 2 years ago. From the very beginning, you could tell Dr. Rose cared deeply for those that truly seeked help. more

I have three years sober. Yes, in a row! I am so very gratefull for the amazing work you and your staff have done in my life. You taught me how to take responsibility for my sobriety and ways to reconnect with my family. This Rehabilitation center is definetly a A+ and more for families and addicts. Christina more

I am not convinced 7/22/2011

I was very disappointed in Dr. Rose. She wasnt there for the intake of my brother, at the promised time. When she did see him, she told him 'you are in really bad shape"". While she was talking to him (five minutes, max), she had a walk in that wanted to tour the place, and off like a rocket she went. I personally helped him with a urine sample, which looked like black coffee. I would think that any doctor would have reacted to this red flag. But no, he had some fruit at dinner and had a heart attack the first night there. Having to decide as a family on taking him off life support is something I would never wish upon anyone. I miss him terribly and wish we would have chosen something else. Nothing worse than ""what if""? more

Worked for me! 7/19/2011

I got out of 6 months of custody in jail and was at LJC the following morning. The life I was leading was taking me down fast & hard. I entered LJC, followed direction, had tough times, had good times. Worked through some problems and probably created some too. I was there to work on my recovery and did just that. It was no ""vacation"" or ""Holiday"". (For me or the staff.) They helped me build a solid foundation for dealing with life without drugs/alcohol. That was over 4 years ago. Life still has ups & downs but overall, is much better than before and gets better all the time. I believe you that you get back exactly what you put in to the ""program"". No one can do it for you but, Dr. Rose and her staff certainly help me achieve and maintain my sobriety. I thank all the people involved in my recovery (Too many to list.) and wish all the best to those trying to get there. It worked for me and my only regret is I didn't do it sooner. ' more

My life has new meaning 7/4/2011

I wound up at Lifes journey center after 10 years of using pills alcohol and many other things. this was not my first treatment experience. right from the start dr.rose saw right through my bs, i was used to getting over on people and I couldn't on this woman! only once I started to get honest and stop blaming everyone else, I found myself being willing to do whatever it took to take my life back. rebuild the relationships I had destroyed with my family and friends, was amazing.dr.rose was right there to guide me through the process. I then transitioned into the sober living lifes journey offers, this was the next best decision I made. I was a little scared making the move back into society and by moving into sober living it allowed me to fall back on the support lifes journey offered while I started to build up new support through a 12 step program. my friends and family continue to tell me what a blessing it was I went to lifes journey because of the transformation they have seen unfold. I have now been clean and sober for 20months which is an absolute miracle, for a person who was hopeless like myself. this place was worth way more than what It costs. thank you dr.rose and everyone at lifes journey!!! more

lifes journey works 6/11/2011

i went to lifes journey for pain medication addiction. at first i thought dr rose was to strict. then i figured out dr rose was teaching how i can discipline myself to stop my addiction, and to identify what causes me to relapse, and what i can when craving. dr rose knows from years of expierence to help all addictions dr rose has her own method that she creaed and i praise her way of teaching also the counselers were very helpful especially bea she talked with me and helped with my recovery thank you lifes journey more

Saved My Life & My Family 6/10/2011

I spent 6 month at LJC. If wasnt for Dr. Rose offering affordable rehab I couldnt have afforded to stay as long as I needed to truely recover. I was a chronic relapser who did everything they told me in AA but still continued to relapse. It wasnt until I met Dr. Rose that I was able to tuely face my fears in life and learn tools on how to cope. I am an extremly sensative soul. I didnt know how to walk through pain & suffering. LJC taught me about sitting still with my feelings good, bad and awful. She taught me how to forgive myself and my parents. I will tell you that I was depressed and suffered a tremendous amount of anxiety. I didnt want to be alcoholic let alone be stuck in rehab. It was only with the comminment of LJC & Dr. Rose that my anger and sadness turned into happiness. I remeber not being able to look a children or listen to music becuase I was so hopeless. Dr. Rose reunited our family and gave my daughter their Mother back. We benefited by the family threapy she provided. I will be for ever greatful for LJC and its staff. more

Snake Oil 5/7/2011

LJC is a farce. Dr. Rose is more interested in the money and notoriety than in helping people. She is rarely available and has barely trained staff running the place. This includes family members who really don't want to be there and are rude to the residents. She advertises treating co-occuring diagnosis' but there is no psychiatrist available.....it is a skeleton of a rehab...made to look like things are happening but they are really not. Some 12 step meetings are farmed out to the community and residents are told to say they are alcoholics to fit into an AA meeting. Residents who are paying cash are given preferential treatment over insurance residents. It's very sad....some people have been there for months...lounging by the pool and not doing much else. The schedule listed online is laughable. It is never followed. Go somewhere else where treatment is actually given. more

no service took money 3/17/2011

Dr. Rose turned into an evil uncaring person as soon as she had the $8000.00 Before Mike arrived she was so caring and called many times in one day. As soon as she had the money Mike could not see her. She was always on the phone and gave Mike no attentionl. more

Thank you again, Dr. Rose 2/23/2011

To me, Life's Journey Center stands for Love, Joy and Commitment. I celebrated 2 years of sobriety on Monday. My new life started at LJC. more

LJC WORKED FOR ME 2/23/2011

This is a message for Debra100, maybe if you would have participated more in your treatment instead of acting like you knew it all and tried to save other people when you didn't even know how to save yourself, it would have worked for you. It sounds like you thrive off of negativity and had a bad attitude toward Dr. Rose and her staff. You might think of checking yourself into a couple more rehabs after you get out of the current one because it sounds like you need a lot more attention for your problems. I think the food should have been the last thing she should have been worried about because sobriety should have been her main focus. Also I have two questions to pose to Debra 100, how many rehabs had she been to before and had any of them ever lived up to her standards or kept her sober for any length of time? If she didn't like LJC the first time why did you come back for a second stay? The current rehab that she is staying at should watch out for the review she gives them. Remember Debra100, ""Be part of the solution not the problem."" more

Thank you Life's Journey Center 2/20/2011

Thank you Dr. Rose and the entire staff at Life's Journey Center. Because of your dedication and encouragement, I am enjoying my years of soberity. There are so many wonderful tools I learned at LJC. To name a few- I learned living with integrity and spiritual development through the 12 step program and family and social relationship skills during the groups. The groups at LJC were so powerful. Thank you Dr. Rose! Before my experience at LJC's sober living facility I was unemployed, I gave up on my education, and did not have life skills. Thanks to God and the support of Dr. Rose and her staff, I was integrated into the workforce, completed my degree, and developed coping skills for life issues. The tools you will learn here are what you need to make soberity your lifestyle. more

Unhealthy reply 2/2/2011

After much thought, I felt I had to share my experiences at LJC in the form of a review. My husband is in the union and this is the facility they pay for. I went in June 2010 and thought facility to be inadequate. No AA meetings, little big book and no therapy other than groups. I relapsed in Dec. and went back, hoping to be able to demand more help. It was not to be. I suffer from mental illness and was desperately in need of seeing a psychatrist. I was assured I would see one but it was not to be. I also had to go without meds due to either them not being picked up or I did not have enough cash to pay co-pay. You will not be helped with that. there is a store there to buy stuff but be prepared to pay 100% mark up. I once was in tears, scared and confused. I asked Dr Rose for a minute of her time, I was refused. I never had a one on one with her either time It is a really unorganized, confusing place. Please think twice before you go there. ***** After my review was posted I was personally reviewed about my review by ""Native"" Check it out Here is my response to that: I wrote a review in regards to my personal experiences at life's journey center. These were only my personal experiences and I believed I was writing it in a venue where my opinions would be respected. To my surprise a person who has been at Life's Journey Center for an astonishing year or more. decided to attack me personally for my experiences. Trust me when I say this is the sort of getting even treatment that goes on there. I simply wrote a review and since it was not good I was reviewed myself. It really makes no sense but trust me when I say, this is how this place operates. I am really sorry that it has to be this way but if you go there you are better off if you just agree with everything they say. Personal opinions are not welcome there. Also, to the ""native"" who wrote about me ""Work your own program"" and as far as your stupid questions to me Life's journey Center is the only place the union will pay for. Trust me when I say I do not have the time for this however I just need to let ""native"" know there is life after LJC. You should try it. more
