Awful experience, the worst customer service NEVER GO HERE more

Poor service and workmanship 3/1/2012

With summer approaching, I decided to add my review before any other person decided to get service here. Don't do it! I have never had a good experience here. \r \r Unfortunately, due to the location, I have been using this location for service to my snow blower and NEW lawn mower. Repairs were not acceptable and I had to repeatedly return for additonal repairs. The last time was last year for my Troy Bilt mower (will NEVER purchase that again) which was making aweful noises. They REPAIRED it and it made a new noise (which said was acceptable and blamed the mower construction). Then, after 2 months, the original noise returned. They told me to contact the manuf who inturn contacted them and told me as well that this was an acceptable noise. Are they both crazy!?!? My blood boils again just thinking about the inconvenience and wasted expense. This year, I still need the mower fixed and will be shopping for another service center to do so.\r \r I strongly recommend avoiding this business as well as Troy Bilt. more

Will never go there again... 7/1/2011

My husband and I tried very hard to do business with this place but after today we are done. About a month and a half ago we needed a tire and inner tube for a riding mower. So my husband took both the old tire and tube up to Erie L&G for replacements. They informed my husband that the tire was on back order and sold him the inner tube we needed. (mind you the customer service here is below par but we ignored this in the beginning) When he gets home we get to looking at this inner tube and see that it is the wrong size. A week goes by so that I can give this place time to receive the back ordered tire. I call...no tire....ok, I'm fine with that but I need this inner tube exchanged so I go back to the store and am given the new one after waiting around 15 minutes for someone to help me. Another 2 weeks goes by....I call....no tire....STILL on back order....another week....call again....and surprise...no tire....So I call another mower parts supply store in Mentor who tells me that yes, they can order the tire and that they would have it the very NEXT day. I ponder calling Erie L&G to inform them that they should get their parts from this guy. I refrain. My husband then takes the long awaited tire, exchanged inner tube and rim up to Erie L&G and after 20 minutes (yes...I said 20) finally gets to speak with an unpleasant woman who informs him that for $20 and 6 hours they can certainly put that tire on the rim for him. That is the exact moment that my husbands patience with these people ran out, if your wondering. We could not possibly waste anymore time or money with this business. Where I come from you cater to the customer with kindness and helpfulness in order to better the business. If I make you wait around and make countless trips for a never produced product I would certainly try to remedy your opinion of my business by putting that tire on for little or no cost and quickly. And I certainly wouldn't speak to a customer in such an irritated tone. I will never go here again and will never recommend someone else to do so either. more

Horrible service, avoid like the plague. 4/9/2010

BAD COMMUNICATION, WORSE SERVICE. AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL COSTS! Horrible experience. Took over six weeks to complete a simple mower repair they claimed would be done in under a week. Calling in, I got various excuses over and over, from ""The mechanic was out of town"" to ""your part is not in yet."" Every time they promised it ""would be done in couple days,"" but this went on forever, while I was stuck borrowing my neighbors beat-up old mower. They also charged me over 25% of the mower's value for the repair. This place is a nightmare, hard to believe the positive reviews. Go somewhere else and save yourself the bad experience, please. Cons: slow service, bad communication, high cost more

Great products and great service, reasonably priced! 10/1/2008

I got really sick of buying lawn and garden equipment at the big box stores. No one there knows much about the equipment they sell. If it breaks, you're on your own.\r \r I first went to Lake Erie Lawn and Garden a few years back when my Sears gas blower died. It lasted a whole year. The one before that lasted about three. I thought ""There has to be better quality equipment out there!"" LEL&G carries Stihl power equipment. A very nice and knowledgeable salesperson helped me pick out the right blower for my needs. It has run like a champ for 3 years now.\r \r Since then I've bought a Stihl chainsaw and pole saw from LEL&G. All of my Stihl power equipment has been a pleasure to own and use.\r \r I have also had my John Deere tractor serviced there.\r \r Their prices are very fair for service and they fixed my tractor right the first time.\r \r My advice to you is to break your habit of shopping for yard equipment at the box stores. You will pay a few bucks more at Lake Erie L&G, but the equipment you'll get is MUCH better quality, and the person selling you the item actually knows what they're talking about. If you do need a repair, they know what they're doing and they'll take care of you. Pros: Great quality equipment for sale, knowledgeable sales people. Cons: Will cost a bit more than the ""big box"" stores. more
