Stand out Staff 3/3/2022

Doris the CNA 2nd floor she is full of positive energy and happy when doing her job. She loves her job. She knows what she is doing and gives it 100%. She is ready to help and I notice she is doing this for all the patients. You can tell she loves what she is doing. I feel safe having my mother with her. 5 stars for Doris. You are luck to have her and many others like her here. more

I was stubborn! 2/4/2022

You have such a great group of people that work here! A few that really stood out were; Misty, RN, Julian, RN, Cris, RN, Jeremy, CNA and Victor, CNA. I know I was acting very difficult when I first got here due to the amount of pain i was in but everyone was very patient and understanding. They let me move at my own pace and never said a harsh word even though I know I was not easy to work with. The gentle way the therapy team worked with me made me want to continue on and now I am moving on to another rehab facility instead of having to go to a nursing home and that is 100% due to the fact that the team at Kindred didn’t give up on me and I didn’t give up on me either. Another thing that inspired me to keep on was the food. It was SO GOOD and looking forward to meals gave me a boost of energy. more

The FOOD WAS GREAT!! 2/3/2022

I was admitted from another hospital with COVID pneumonia. From the moment we arrived at Kindred Clear Lake EVERYONE (from the nursing staff to the house keepers) have been accommodating and caring!! The food was SO GOOD that I gained AT LEAST 10 lbs while I was here! (The salmon and the Luby’s macaroni and cheese were my favorites!) Neither my wife or I have ever really been hospitalized for anything serious so we were unsure of what to expect but our experience here has been truly wonderful. If I could rate ya’ll 10 STARS, I would!! more

Rehab is the best! 12/29/2021

Jennifer (charge nurse) and Fernando (physical therapy) made a BIG difference in my stay! Jen has gone above and beyond to help me when I needed help. When I was in pain she made sure everyone was aware and did something about it. Turning and repositioning was so painful! She recognized that and did everything she could to help. I always look forward to working with Fernando. He is always so positive and uplifting and motivates me on the days I don’t feel good. more

Kindred CL got him BACK TO GOLF!! 11/8/2021

Mike was a very active 67-year-old. He was still employed as a full time lab supervisor. He drove 60 miles to work. He played golf every weekend that he could. Mike also enjoyed working in his yard. It was during this yard work he started having chest pains. He was rushed to the ER where he suffered a massive heart attack and coded in the cath lab. During the cath procedure after he was revived he aspirated in both lungs. He was placed on a ventilator. He had several complications and was sedated. It took mike a month before he was responsive or awake. Because of the amount of time he was in bed he had lost over 35 lbs and most of his muscle mass. The day he was to be transferred to Kindred, Mike woke up. He began moving his arms and legs but not following commands. The first days at KCL, respiratory began weaning him off of the vent. By the next week they had him on a trach collar and the following week after that they removed the vent completely. The Physical Therapy group had him up and moving in just a couple of days. Mike felt blessed that his niece Jo was one of the PTA’s that helped in his recovery. She had him sitting on the side of the bed in just a couple of days! The whole PT group was great with him. Fernando helped him with the neuro chair. Larry, Alex and Paul with OT helped him with his grooming. Mike took his first steps 45 days after his heart attack with the help of the exo-suit. A few days after that Jo had him walking with a walker. By the time he left Kindred he was walking at a fairly fast pace with the walker. After a brief stay at an intermediate rehab facility, he is now home and improving every day! His goal is to go back to work and to be able to play golf and teach his grandson how to play. Mike took 4 golf swings last week and hit all 4 balls! He is on his was to recovery thanks to Kindred! more

Hospital “Newbie” 10/27/2021

I am an “older” man but had (until now) never been hospitalized until I caught COVID 19 and was admitted to a hospital ER for treatment. After the ER I was eventually sent to Kindred Clear Lake to continue my recovery. My first several days here I was very sick and don’t remember much but I do remember how safe I felt and how often I knew people were in and out of my room checking on me. The hardest part of this recovery has been my breathing. The respiratory folks have been very attentive and very available if I ever need them and to answer my many questions. All of the nurses and aids have been great. Walna and Penelope stand out for how courteous, thorough and professional they are at all times. Katie, Paul and Alex from the Rehab area have been very patient with me. I was/am very weak from being in bed for so long but they have been persistently working with me to rebuild my strength. Olivia from the speech department really did a great job of making sure I was safe to have my breathing tube out and start to swallow and talk again. EVERYTHING here is done professionally! I was checked on frequently and my pain level and comfort were top priority. People were constantly poking their heads in my door just to say hi or see if I needed anything. For my one and only and (hopefully) last hospital stay this has been as good as it could be! more

So Thankful 9/24/2021

We are so thankful for the wonderful care and treatment Pete has received since arriving at Kindred! Thank you to everyone in ICU and on the 2nd floor! The kindness of the doctors and staff are beyond words! Seeing Pete removed from the ventilator was a very happy day and the Trach being removed was another major step. The care and constant monitoring of doctors and nurses and respiratory was excellent! They give so much! The love and patience from physical therapy is heart warming. It has been 11 weeks since the accident and we have loved spending the last 4 weeks at Kindred! Pete has improved so much since leaving STAC. I am SO THANKFUL we chose Kindred Clear Lake for Pete’s care! more

Amazing HOSPITAL!! 8/6/2021

Kindred Hospital Clear Lake has been absolutely amazing! They have done an amazing job! I want to give a special thank you to Dr. Nassif and Dr. James as well as the nurses Troy and Laura. I also want to thank the Rehab department, especially Katie, Michelle, Larry and Glesion. We couldn’t have made it this far without all of these amazing people! more

My care was great! 7/28/2021

Paul and Joe and Fernando with rehab were the very BEST! They were good at getting me up and encouraging me to work with them They all clearly love what they do and it shows!! Kim and Caprese from dialysis were really good. They always thoroughly explained what they were doing and why and I appreciated that so much.... I am a new dialysis patient and was unfamiliar with a lot of the processes of the treatment so having dialysis nurses who took the time to educate me was great.! Carleta, Stephanie and Taiwo were my favorite nurses. Doris the CNA gave me THE BEST bath and washed my hair.... it felt so good! Thank you KCL!! more

We LOVED the ICU nurses!! 7/20/2021

The ICU staff was wonderful, remarkable, AMAZING! more

100% Goodness 6/14/2021

I would say this place is 100 percent goodness. The nurses have been good to me. Not one of them talked back and all of them were good. They were all well mannered. I felt at ease when I found out a lot of the nurses listen to gospel music too. The physical therapy at this hospital helped me a lot. I wasn't able to get up at all when I first got here. Now I can stand and walk, twist and pivot. The nurses work as a team with the therapist. There were times that it was difficult and painful but the staff understood what I was going through. That helped me get through all of this and helped me get stronger. The wound care team was an experience to remember! They explained everything and walked me through it while they worked with me and that made it more calm. They taught me better ways to protect my skin and what to do if I needed help. They help you stay calm, cool, collected here. Just be open and truthful with your nurses and they will help you deal with pain and everything else you need. more

Great hospital! 6/4/2021

If I was asked to pick just a couple of great staff members for Kindred I would have to say "Oh Lord! ALL OF THEM!! They are courteous and polite and quick to respond when I call for help. Doris, Cris and Nicole all stand out. more

So many amazing staff!! 5/26/2021

My stay has been so good. All of the staff have been caring and very kind. I wish I could remember all of their names but the ones I can remember are: Doris, Tameka, Eva, Mayola, Dalila, Nena, Elezabeth, Loretta and Rachel. Those nurses and techs work so hard! Joe, Paul, Fernando and Glessing from therapy were really helpful and do their best all the time. They would help me get up and that was so great! Mia with wound care took very good care of me and kept me laughing all the time with her accent from Brooklyn. more

On Point!! 5/12/2021

If I could rate Kindred Clear Lake more than 5 stars I would! From the moment my husband was admitted everyone has been amazing! The receptionist and security guard at the front were always so welcoming and happy to see me every time I came to visit. The unit secretary Belinda was always smiling and made a point to say hello. That was so awesome to have so many people genuinely glad to see me and genuinely glad to be caring for my husband. The staff have ALL been so wonderful but a few stand out. Doris the CNA. She gets an A++! Can't say enough about the care and kindness that lady provided us! Amy from respiratory therapy explained EVERYTHING to me about my oxygen needs and never seemed rushed. All of the respiratory therapists were exceptional. Anna the ICU nurse who took care of me one day was so competent and skilled in her nursing care. When my husband had her for his nurse we both knew that we didn't have to worry about anything at all. She was superb! Paul and Glessing with OT worked with me every day in order to build up and my strength. Jesseka our case manager is the BEST CASE MANAGER I HAVE EVER HAD. Her communication with me was so appreciated. She would even email me first thing in the morning before I was even out of bed!! Misty is another nurse who stands out for her excellent care. She is so genuine and you can tell she really cares. The food was always very good. If nothing on the menu looked good, someone from the kitchen would always call and take our order. I would absolutely recommend Kindred CLear Lake to any of my friends or family! Thank you all again so much for the exceptional care you provided! more

Kindred clear lake was a great experience! 4/30/2021

I was transferred from another hospitals ICU to kindred clear lake. While here I have experienced a bunch of caring individuals!! I don't have one negative thing to say about the staff .. I rarely had to wait any more than 2 minutes when I pushed my call light... Wound care was great. Very attentive. Therapy was very motivating in getting me up and moving... They were gently relentless... The CNAs were amazing . CJ and Doris both stand out. Doris was so sweet and attentive... CJ made a point to give me a very thorough bath... I am sorry that I ended up in the hospital and so sick but being at Kindred has at least made a difficult situation more bearable...more pleasant. more

Kindred clear lake is great!, 4/20/2021

Most of the nurses have been wonderful!! The food was delicious and there were many options... The therapy team was very good! My goal when I got here was to be able to get up and walk on my own and they helped me achieve that goal! When My wife came to visit me she needed assistance to get up the the nursing unit to see me and the security guards were always so helpful in assisting her to the elevator and escorting her upstairs. I would happily recommend Kindred clear lake! more

Grateful for the wonderful care 3/4/2021

The facility is very nice and clean. I enjoyed going to the rehab gym and exercising with therapy. I have built up strength a little more each day. I was admitted to another hospital prior to coming to Kindred and was found to have COVID. I was in ICU and put on a regiment of treatments. I lied in bed for 18 days, so I was worried about regaining strength. I am so happy to have come here to Kindred and regained my strength. The therapy team gave me such encouragement and assured me that I could do it, and that gave me strength. The therapist encouraged me to walk down the long hall. I wasn't sure I could do it but she let me take breaks as needed and always encouraged me. Paul taught me excercises to do while sitting on the edge of the bed and was also a great encouragement. I haven't been hospitalized for over 30 years, so this was hard. The bedside staff have been wonderful and taken such good care of me, especially De. She helped me get my first shower after initially being hospitalized. She was a wonderful blessing, very thoughtful and attentive. I only had an issue one night with a nurse aid, but administration straightened it out right away. Everything has been perfect. The food here is very good and always served hot. I wish all of the staff would receive a blessing for being so kind. Kindness is what patients need, it helps us feel better. more

Thorough doctors and compassionate staff 2/10/2021

The doctors at this hospital were very thorough and took patient point of view into decisions. Nursing staff were very compassionate, polite, and strict. A few improvements could be made such as how well information is shared from shift to shift because it seemed that they tend to summarize too much and all information was not passed along. That resulted in me needing to make sure certain medications were properly administered or canceled. My room was always clean, and done so on a daily basis. Although, the temperature in my room was colder than I like so I notified nursing staff. They opened a work order ticket but it never really was resolved. I would absolutely recommend this hospital to others. more

5 star care 1/21/2021

Everybody in this hospital has been great. I wish I could stay here instead of transferring to another facility for the next level of care. more

Thankful for the help I had 1/19/2021

I came here in need. I find only professional people who wanted to help. I am thankful for the help I had. Everyone from housekeeping and dietary to nurses and doctors were very helpful. My pulmonologist, Dr. Maksoud, was very helpful and encouraged me to seek more rehab at another facility when I was well enough to transfer but not quit strong enough to be independent at home. more
