A POSITIVE experience is the only way I 6/1/2012

A POSITIVE experience is the only way I can describe what I have had at the Key Laser Institute. Dr. Key is very thorough when discussing the procedure options and the potential complications from each one. He has a genuine interest in finding the best procedure and I never felt pressured to choose one over the other. There are follow-up appointments to check on recovery. The employees couldn't be more friendly and warm, yet professional and knowledgeable. The most important factor in my experience, however, was the final result. My desire to have a fresher look as I turned 55 has been fulfilled. I have been to other aesthetic medicine offices, but have never been as happy as with the Key Laser Institute. more

I went to Key Laser on the advice of 5/14/2012

I went to Key Laser on the advice of another professional in the cosmetic laser industry. I was impressed with Dr. Key's attention. His evaluation was thoughtful and I could tell he was really trying to determine the most effective treatment. We decided on Ulthera, which I did in mid February 2012. About May 1st, I ran into an old client who looked at me and blurted out, ""Where did you find the fountain of youth?"". When you see yourself every day, you can't see the changes, but my client saw them easily. I decided to try Pelleve for eyes. It is a painless treatment with great promise. I chose it for the great return on investment for me. The staff is friendly and professional. It feels like a day at the spa. Plus you wake up every day looking better and better. more

Bad experience! Went in for one 2/8/2012

Bad experience! Went in for one procedure and sold another at $3,000 that did nothing but make the situation worse. Spoke to Dr Key direct and he made excuses and recommended another procedure that required several treatments. Really! I am a reasonable person and expected reasonable results, with reasonable expectations. Very poor service, wait is 45+ minutes. Buyer beware!!! more

Ulthera Treatment is a miracle 6/7/2011

I have had this treatment on for problem areas like upper arms, and neck. The lifting, and tightening are instant. The staff is there with you every step of the way. The time of this procedure flies by, and there is no down time. Truly a miracle. more

Wonderfull Results 6/6/2011

After a # of consultations I decided to have my procedure done at the Key laser Inst. These included ""Fractional CO2 Laser resurfacing& Ulthera combined with Juvaderm. My decision to choose the Key Laser Inst was because of the most courteous, thorough & proffesional consultation with Dr Key combined with an office staff that are as delightfull as he is. My financial restrictions were taken into account & treated with respect. Thanks to the expertise of both Dr Key & Yan Duan FNP I am thrilled with the results & would highly reccomend this Institute to anyone, Thankyou norma more

I look ten years younger because of Dr. Key! 2/21/2011

I have been a patient of Dr Key for about twelve years and it has really paid off. At my 30 year high school reunion a couple of years ago, I was voted best preserved, this is because of Dr key and Shellie Garber, Dr Key's top nurse. I'm told all the time that I look like I'm 40, when I'm actually 51.\r \r I have tried several lazer treatments, the latest being Ultherapy, which I loved. It has tightened my skin and really improved the texture. My husband can't get over how soft my skin feels and either can I. People ask me all the time what my secret is and it really is Dr. Key.\r \r Whenever I go for a visit to try new lazer treatments or get a touch up from a tried and true lazer, I alway's ask for Shellie. My experience would not be the same without her. She is extremely knowledgeable and professional. She makes the treatments fun and interesting with her great sense of humor. She also is very good about explaining evrything. There is never a feeling of being hurried or pressured.\r \r Dr Key and his staff has given me self confidence and reassurance when needed over the years. He is truely a genius and a pioneer in his field. You will never regret a visit to Dr. Key. more

The epitomy of ""bait and switch"" 1/17/2011

While the phone and office staff were pleasant, I found the process with the practicitioner to be old style\r used car tactics. I've had a past cosmetic procedure from a highly rated Portland cosmetic surgeon. If anything, they downsold. This organization is on the hunt and immediately went for the most expensive procedure they offer......almost as much as a facelift. When told I only desired to spend a much smaller amount to see some results prior to committing to a larger investment, it was obvious that extracating the most $$ from the cleint is their primary goal at Key. Overall, very sleazy! more

What diet and exercise can’t fix, Dr. Key can! 1/14/2011

I am a 31 year old mother, I run every day and watch what I eat. I run an average of 90-100 miles per month. You would think that my bumb would look fantastic, right. WRONG! For the life of me I could not lose what I call my “under-butt.” What is that you ask… it is that extra fold under your bumb. I was so self conscious of my “under-butt” that I was embarrassed for even my husband to see me from behind. On vacations I was wearing skirted swimsuit, I am a size 4 wearing a skirted swimsuit!! \r I finally had enough and heard Key Laser Institute on the radio. I went to their website and read about my options. I booked a consultation and was so excited to have a new tight and lifted bumb that I booked my first treatment for the following week! I must note, they have financing options available which was very helpful. \r I ended up going with Accent. It took three treatments and then another three months to see the results. I quizzed the nurse (who was fantastic) about other before and after photos I was looking at asking her if they are photo shopped. Boy did I offend her. But after seeing my before and after photos I am a big believer. My husband and I are going to Palm Springs next month and I am excited to say for the first time in years I will not be wearing a skirted swim suit, thank you Dr.Key and staff! \r more

Dr. Key is wonderful! 12/29/2010

Dr. Key was recommended to me by a friend of mine who is his former patient. His fee was very affordable considering his reputation as a great doctor. Also, everyone his nurses, assistants and office staff-are all wonderful. I had consulted with 2 other docs in the area and Dr. Key and his staff were far better than the others. Their knowledge, caring, understanding and willingness to take the time to actually talk and listen to me were outstanding. After surgery, they were very attentive and accessible. It has been 3 months but even at this stage, it is an amazing difference and I look GREAT! I would recommend him to anyone of my friends or family. If you want to look great, go see him! more

Hope to Warn Others 12/24/2010

Very horrible experience with this place as well. Like others who have posted, Key did not communicate with his staff my history nor was he clear about what I needed to have done and what my special needs were. And even though I told the tech not once, but twice, what those areas were, they did whatever the hell they felt like doing anyway. On top of this, they damaged my skin very badly as well. If you need some work done, and you're reading this, please look somewhere else. He charges alot of $$, but the service and skill is most definitely not there. Most places (in fact probably all except this one) put in the chart (at the very least!) what the client is there to have done and what areas to focus on, so that if there is little to no communication before the treatment, the tech can refer to the chart. Not the Key Laser Institute. He'll try to push all these procedures on you during your consult, but forget to note to his staff why you are coming in to have the treatments you do decide to have. The results have been disastrous for me. If you have money and sense, for the love of God, please stay away from this horrendous, unprofessional and derelict establishment. I'll admit, their receptionist conducts herself in a very professional way, but some of the techs (and you may be unlucky enough as I was to get the wrong one), have no freakin' idea what they're doing, or even worse, just don't seem to give a damn. - Hope I Can Warn Others more

Ultherapy Treatment 12/20/2010

I recently had Ultherapy treatment at Key Laser Institue; Shellie Garber was my nurse. It was a very pleasant experience and the smoothness and tightening of my face is remarkable. All this without a knife, the laser technology that Key Laser Institue provides is leading in the industry!\r \r I have been coming to Key Laser for over 10 years and my face, neck and chest are in remarkable shape. I take pride in my looks and Dr. Key and his staff are always providing me the best technology. Shellie has been my nurse for years, she takes the time to address your conerns, gives you 100% of her time and attention and offers you suggestions. She cares about you!\r \r I will continue to put my ""face"" and ""faith"" in Dr. Douglas Key at Key Laser Institue, his staff and to his wonderful nurse, Shellie Garber.\r Jill K. Storey more

Diminishing Under Eye Bags with Filler 12/14/2010

While not exactly right on schedule (might want to bring a book or your knitting), I was extremely pleased that, once in consultation with Dr. Key, I had absolutely 100% of his undivided attention and interest. Dr. Key was very informative, explained details carefully, and listened to my concerns. I left the office with a realistic treatment plan in hand. My biggest ""concern"" for years has been my under eye bags, which just kept getting lower and more prominent. I have had several consultations for surgery and thought that was the way to go. However, one surgeon had advised me as Dr. Key also did in my consultation: ""Don't remove the fat. You'll be sorry."" Dr. Key explained that the problem wasn't really too much fat, but that there was ""sinking"" going on around the eye area. His suggestion was using filler to build up the area right below them, which I just recently had done. I have to say that the results were much better than I had hoped. Immediately, the bags were lifted up and therefore appeared significantly smaller. How I love immediate gratification! I will have just a little more filler in the ""tear trough"" area and that should further reduce the appearance of the bags. I just really appreciated understanding that the real problem wasn't necessarily that there was too much fat, but that the problem was in the ""sinking"" of the surrounding skin. I found Dr. Key to be very attentive and thorough and interested in making sure that I was understanding everything he was explaining to me. His office staff were also very professional, friendly, and sensitive. I mean, let's face it, we're there because we're unhappy with something about our appearance, something that makes us self-conscious, and they understand and are very respectful. I also had some filler in the jowl area which helped to smooth out that area, diminishing the jowl shadows that add that dreaded ""aged"" appearance. I will probably add just a little more there, as well, on my next visit. I am seriously considering the Ulthera. Why not have all new collagen? I can really appreciate the male reviewer's comment about our tendency to not think twice about certain kinds of purchases, but really wrestle with spending a similar amount of money on our appearance, and more importantly how we feel about ourselves on a daily basis. I, for one, am all for it. And I am looking forward to continuing my new relationship with Dr. Key and his staff, and anticipate good things as a result. more

A man's very positive Ultherapy experience 12/14/2010

Recently I had the new Ultherapy treatment at the Key Laser Institute here in Portland (Oregon). Full disclosure here, I'm a middle aged man and had heard about this procedure from a friend. After a free initial consultation, I decided to have the treatment. I must say I found Dr. Key and his entire staff to be very friendly, helpful, competent and highly professional. Every step of the way I was kept very well informed of what the procedure was, how it functioned, how I would likely feel during the procedure and the likely results. With all of my questions answered to my satisfaction, I went ahead with the Ultherapy. I was told there would be some ""pain or discomfort"" associated with the treatment process and I found this was true. However, during most of the procedure there was little or no pain or discomfort. And what discomfort or pain there was (in very brief one second intervals) was only minor, totally manageable and well within my comfort range. Now I should tell you, I'm a total woos when it comes to pain, but we had discussed ""pain management"" prior to the therapy and we had decided what medication would work best for me. I took the medication prior to treatment and then had the procedure. Not a problem. And immediately after the procedure, I felt as normal as when I had walked in the office. > > So now you're probably wondering, did it work? Did I notice a difference? Yes and yes. I could definitely tell a difference. It's not a major or a radical change (you're not gonna look like your high school graduation picture...but then why would you want to?) but I looked better. Definitely better. And as the next three to six months go by, as new collagen builds and the improvements continue to occur, the results should be even more pronounced. I'm looking forward to that! Cost? Well, if you'd spend this much on a big flat screen TV, why wouldn't you spend it improving your face? I can whole heartedly recommend Dr. Key, his staff and the Ultherapy treatment to anyone, man or woman. Lastly, would I do it again? Yes, and I may very well do that. more

Would never ever go there again, sorry I trusted this place 12/12/2010

Dr. Key (and I use the term quite loosely) had one of his techs work on me without giving her or putting in my chart any details I had discussed with him in an hour long consult, not only in 2010, but one in 2007 as well. As a matter of fact, it was this Shelley G., that is referred to in the previous review, who is actually extremely UNSKILLED. I have a botched fat injection under my eye, and this was not only noted on my intake form, but Dr. Key was very aware of this from the two long consults I had with him. Shellie (the idiot) was supposed to be doing IPL for broken capillaries on my face - the nose and cheeks. To Key's credit, he actually did tell her to focus on this area in my presence, as did I. She told me she would do the whole face and then focus more on these areas, to ""cherry-pick."" She seemed knowledgeable enough and I trusted her (BIG MISTAKE which I still now regret deeply). For some God-only-knows reason, she chose to focus on the skin directly under my left eye and basically burnt the area to a crisp. Now the skin is so dry it looks like that of a 70-year old, with deep, diagonal etched lines going both ways and the whole area very crinkled, i.e., horrible. My appearance has been aged by at least 5 years (at least if not more) and I spent $500 for the dubious privilege of looking way older than I actually am! It doesn't end there. The area has gotten worse by the day. The skin which she overdid looks like the fat on a piece of overdone chicken, as apparently she fried it with the laser. How she could do this much damage with an IPL laser, I can't even now begin to fathom! I can't even put makeup there anymore, as it just makes the lines stand out even more. Not only that, she hardly touched the areas I needed done, the nose and cheeks! For God's sake, people, if you value your skin, steer very clear of this place and especially SHELLIE! more

Incredible results and exceptional customer service 12/7/2010

My Co2 and Ultherapy treatments returned remarkable results. I found that my skin texture immediately improved and continued to smooth and look more youthful over the next several months. There was also a significant tightening effect, particularly around the eyes. As expected, Dr. Key and and his talented staff made the procedures seamless and comfortable. Moreover, Shellie G., my nurse at Key Laser for several years, was exceptionally skilled and thoughtful throughout the process. I have been a loyal Key Laser customer for several years; I would recommend Dr. Key's team and the CO2/Ultherapy treatments to anyone who wants younger looking skin. more
