Kensington Park Senior Living

My parents have been at Kensington Park since 2007, and they have found a wonderful home in it since then. My father lives in the independent living section, and its a lovely building with caring staff. The food is good, and the place is well maintained and lovely. The residents are very pleasant, too. My mother resides in the memory care section. The people there are extremely caring and sweet to their residents. I know it can be very difficult to take care of people with memory problems, but these caretakers really do have a lot of patience. They also know all of the residents' names, which shows how much they really care. I only wish that Kensington would contact me more frequently to keep me updated, but for the most part they do a pretty good job. I would gladly recommend them to others. more

I know without a doubt that my dad is being taken care of at Kensington Park. The staff is very person-oriented and really good at customizing care around the individual patient. They see what their needs are and make them feel as comfortable as possible in a new living environment. Not only do they take care of my father, but they make sure that he is being stimulated, making friends, and being encouraged to participate in activities. They provide thriving environment, not just a place for someone to continue living. I have popped in many times, and have only witnessed good things within the past year. I'm very glad that my dad is in a safe place that promotes well-being. more

We moved my mother from an independent care facility to Kensington Park in July. Main reason that we chose Kensington Park is that they have a group of about 7 or 8 residence who have dementia but who aren't ready to go into the full blown memory unit. The staff at Kensington Park is very involved. Everyone knows her name and our name. It is a very warm and friendly place. The people really want to be there. It doesn't seem like a job to them. More like a calling. more

Kensington Park takes care of my mother and they have definitely exceeded my expectations. My mother does so well there. At first she didn't know what to expect of it and was hesitant about assisted living. Now she is very comfortable there. The place has beautiful people and great setting with lots of engaging activities. The staff was nice enough to introduce things slowly to her, so that she would not get overwhelmed. Since my mother started living there, she has gained weight and has been exercising a lot more. Every day, Kensington impresses us more and more. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. more

My brother-in-law is at Kensington Park and it's been wonderful for him. He gets along with everyone and he's happy. Before, he wasn't happy in his home. I think it's been a great experience for him and good for us. We're at ease because we know he's being taken care of. It allows us to get away once in a while which is good for everybody. more

My father has been at Kensington Park since March and he is now healthier than he has been for several years! A large part of this is because the nursing staff works in close liaison with his doctors, meticulously monitoring his blood sugars to adjust his insulin optimally, and responding to any perceivable change in his health. They are very vigilant. Whenever he develops any kind of health issue they notify the doctor and then always call me to let me know. I have learned that I can completely trust them for his care and also rely on them to refill his 20-some prescriptions whenever necessary! The staff is very kind! They show a lot of respect to the residents and go out of their way to preserve their dignity. They keep the residents, for the most part, in the large activity rooms, where they can easily keep an eye on them. There is usually soft music playing and sometimes there are group activities. I like that when my father needs to use the restroom they take him to his own private restroom, not a public restroom that everyone shares. Although no place is always perfect, I will say that while at Kensington Park, when something about my dad’s care has needed to be tweaked, the staff has been very responsive. I have found in Kensington Park a homey, caring atmosphere and an attractive, clean, safe place for my dad. I can relax, knowing he is well cared for and well treated there. more

Choosing Kensington Park for my mother has proven to be a good decision. They are professional, attentive to detail, nurturing, supportive and understanding. My mom got to the point where she was quite ill and I had to find a continuing care community for her. I looked at 25 different ones, and I narrowed them down to a few choices that my mom might like herself. When we took a tour, the people were very welcoming, very informative, and made us all feel very comfortable. We also loved the apartment that she moved into, so she decided on Kensington. The transition has been wonderful, and she has been doing very well there. They have been incredibly supportive, and they respond to issues very quickly. I don't have to worry about her, and I know she is being supported and well taken care of because they take their responsibilities very seriously. I'm very pleased with how everything has turned out. more

I can't say Kensington Park is perfect, but when things are in need of tweaking they are very responsive. I cannot degrade them in any way. I really trust them for the care of my father. Whenever there is anything wrong, they always call me. One time my father had a small cough, and they called the doctor right away. Soon after that, the doctor prescribed a medicine. When I came to visit him the next day, he did not have a cough anymore. The staff is very vigilant and keep an eye on all the residences in the activity rooms. I like how they keep everyone busy and play quiet music in the rooms. They even help my father go to his own restroom. Not a public restroom that everyone shares, but his own. They have lots of respect of their dignity. I have also been able to completely rely on them with my father's medicine refills. They always call me for permission to refill them. My father has been at Kensington Park since March and his health has been a lot better. I really appreciate how a nurse is on staff to give him his insulin. He has been healing from diabetes and has better bladder control. What more can I say? I can relax and Kensington is wonderful. more

Kensington Park took care of my dad and they helped him move around three different buildings. The gentleman I deal with is very helpful and even calls my dad, "Dad". Not to be a part of our family, but to share our experience. Because of that, I like how they are very personable. Overall, they are very flexible and they get the job done. more

The caregivers at Kensington Park have really turned everything around for my mother in the best way possible, and I have nothing but positive things to say about them. My mother was diagnosed with dementia in 2008. I had put her in an assisted living facility that said they had dealt with dementia patients all the time, when in reality they did not. My mother was there for a year and a half, and had completely deteriorated. She was not getting proper care and was completely ignored. They ended up throwing her out and put us in a terrible position We did not have much time, which was very stressful. At the recommendation of our social worker, I talked to people at Kensington Park. I could not believe how helpful and kind they were -- not only to my mother, but also to me. She has been with them for six months now, and the improvement has been amazing. She's like a new person. Kensington implements a concept that I thing is brilliant. They try to make sure the residents have as much human contact as possible. They really understand something that a lot of people in the assisted living industry do not understand. They really know how to talk to people with dementia, and I could not be more thankful for that. more

My mother has been a client of Kensington Park since March. They are a very warm, cordial and caring group. My mother is 90 years old, and we have been looking for a place to move her for about 7 years. I have worked with Perry and Alejandra, and we both really like them. They are sincere, and I truly mean this. They even sent me a flower and a hand written thank you note, but that wasn't the selling point. They have a convenient location, they're clean, and offer tons of activities, both mental and physical. I have peace of mind with Kensington Park. They provide security for my mom, whom was reluctant to move, but now she says, and I quote "having a blast." She feels like she is on vacation. I can't feel more secure and happy about where my mother is living, and I know that she is in a safe place. It's the quality and care that she deserves. Kensington Park is an efficiently run location, with such variety, and they even ask for input from the residents. more

I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff at the Groves Building. My mom was very agitated, anxious and frightened about moving from her apartment into this new living situation but the staff was fantastic. Not only did they treat my mother with kindness and respect but they reached out constantly to reassure our family that our mom was being well taken care of. Moving my mother was a very difficult decision and the Kensington Park staff guided us through the process step by step. Courtney and her staff were beyond patient and their level of devotion and caring to all of their patients was evident every time you walked into the building. Kensington Park staff’s support, involvement and commitment went well beyond what we expected. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to any family facing the decision to put their loved ones into a care facility. On the bright side, my mother improved so much while at Kensington Park that she was able to move from the Memory Care facility into the Assisted living facility in the Woodlands- a move that was only possible because of the support and care that she received. more

Kensington Park Independent Living has been a lifesaving positive experience for my father and our family. This beautiful setting is warm, attractive, friendly, affordable, and comfortable. The staff is terrific, attentive and bends over backwards to best accommodate. This well run operation offers many wonderful activities and social events. In my travels I have visited many places but few have their unique sense of community and hospitality. My Dad, family and I are deeply fortunate to have him so well cared for in this fantastic place. My mother has been with the memory care unit at Kensington Park for three months, and I think they have excellent service. They are very responsive if you have any concerns. They were very good through the process of placing my mom in the unit, and after her placement, they were very good at following up with us about how she was adjusting. They scheduled conferences with us way in advance to check in, and they showed great professionalism in the way they handled the transition. If a phone call isn't returned, it's because they're very, very busy. If you call again, they'll definitely be in touch. You get the feeling they really care. more

My parents moved in the Kensington Park independent living community three months ago and I was very impressed with the facility itself and the people who make it all run. From the concierge to the waitstaff to the administration, everyone is incredibly caring and very receptive to any needs my parents have. They've made it a very comforting experience. more

Kensington Park basically cared for my father who was in assisted living and they keep a careful eye on him. They've been responsive to me like when I have questions concerns. They've made an effort to involve him in activities and a couple of his individual aides that I've met are really great. They have been easy to deal with and responsive and individuals have been very kind and friendly to my dad. more

Kensington Park retirement community has not only had a positive impact on my mothers life, but on mine as well. Moving my mother from an independent living situation in New Jersey to an assisted living one at Kensington Park in Maryland was a big step, but the entire staff at Kensington Park made the transition a seamless one. From the moment we arrived in the driveway, my mother was made to feel welcomed and safe as she was introduced to a new, friendly living environment. Her daily life has greatly improved, as the level of care that she is now receiving at Kensington Park is superb. I no longer worry about my mother socially or medically. She is successfully encouraged to participate in appropriate activities and she is enjoying them. The quality and care provided by the nursing staff is amazing; most of her medical needs are met on site. My mother is not just living at Kensington Park, she is thriving. My dad has been at Kensington Park for 3-4 years. The new management has made the place so much nicer and better for the residents. The staff is attentive and is there to help residents do things. The staff will come get my dad to do different activities. He loves all the different programs and activities, they are so much more stimulating than just sitting around watching TV. My dad is very happy, and that's what is most important to me. more

I have never, ever, seen a place that cares for its residents the way that Kensington Park does. My mother and father moved in, and for the 5 months my father was here the staff tripped over themselves to make sure that he was comfortable. All independent living is supposed to be is a room, food, and someone to look after him. Yet the staff recognized how ill he was and were constantly checking in on him to make sure he was ok. My mother has Alzheimer's and is in memory care here. It is beyond anything that I've seen. It is not at all like an institution, it is very much a home. They take her for a 3.5 mile walk each day because she likes to walk. She has never once complained and the care is unbelievable. The activities are advanced and up-to-date. She has not deteriorated since coming here, they keep her active and mentally alert. It has been a tremendous experience and they have really helped with making the transition. more

We were really concerned about the transition from independent living to assisted living. Kensington Park was helpful but more importantly loving. They continue to show the same regard for our parents. This is something that can't be replaced with things. They are very personal and helpful. more
