Over the Top training and Love 4/15/2008

My 4 month old Papillon puppy wasn't socialized. He was very shy, barked at anything and everything and groweled at a few people such as the vet. This behavior was unexceptable. I wanted a happy friendly puppy. Friends told me about K9's Only. They claimed that they could change his attitude and teach him how to be a happy puppy who would be loved by all. I decided to check out K9's Only to see for myself what the place looked like and to meet Bobby Dorafshar, the owner, and Sharon Vincuilla, a trainer. My puppy and I went for an interview and a tour. In a matter of minutes the two of them had won over my puppy's love, so I had no doubt he would be happy there. The tour was incredible. The place is immaculately clean as well as fresh smelling. The ventialtion system is very powerful to keep it smelling fresh all the time. The kitchen was spotless and the dishwashers were running. They wash the bowls everyday. Each dog has his own food bin to ensure he gets the right food.. \r \r Convinced this was the place for my puppy to be trained, I took him for a 3 week training program. He came back a happy loveable puppy. Currently completed 3 of 4 follow-ups and plan to do fourth very soon. Also, plan to attend the free Sat. morning sessions to give my dog more exposure to more people and dogs. I am now able to take my puppy to parks, on walks, have people over and truly enjoy my little guy. He barks when someone comes to the door, but stops when he knows they are friends. I never could've accomplished this much as fast as they did. People meet him and are amazed at how socialized and well mannered he has become. He is now 8 months old and a true companion and pleasure to have as a part of my family. \r \r Since I know Lucky is happy, loved and well cared for in this environment, he will be a regular visitor. I take frequent trips. This kennel is the only place where he will be boarded. \r \r Thanks go to Bobby and Sharon. Keep up the great work. See you soon. Pros: genuine love for dogs, clean enviornment, successful training results, happy dogs Cons: wish it was located in my city vs. miles down the freeway, but worth the drive more

Quality Training and Boarding . . . Clean Facility . . . Caring Staff! 4/13/2008

My name is Brett and I am the Kennel Manager here at K9's Only. Recently, I was looking over some reviews on this site and I was disturbed by a couple of them I read about our facility.\r \r Here is my honest opinion of K9's Only:\r \r My experience of almost 10 years includes training, boarding/daycare, vet hospitals and grooming. Based on the level of care and cleanliness at my previous employers, K9's Only is by far the best facility I have ever worked at. I am proud to say that I am associated with this company. I feel that the level of care provided here is unequaled by any other company. The owner, Bobby Dorafshar, has a high level of expectations from me regarding his business. I, in turn, expect nothing less from my staff and we have assembled a caring, knowledgeable group of staff members to care to care for your dogs.\r \r As far as our canine training program, Bobby and Sharon have proven themselves as quality trainers. \r I have seen dogs come in for training that our competitors have turned away due to the difficulty or aggressiveness of the dog. Bobby and Sharon have saved these dogs lives by training them to be a manageable family pet.\r \r If you are still unsure and question the quality of K9's Only, come on in for a free tour. \r See for yourself . . . the clean facility, meet the knowledgeable and caring staff and see one of the best atmospehes your dog could be in. Pros: Modern, state of the art facility. Great Staff. Great company to work for. Cons: If you find some . . . please let me know. more

K9S ONLY LOVES YOUR DOG 4/3/2008

My name is Sharon and I am the Training Manager at K9s Only. It is true, and I have never kept this from my clients, that I have less than 3 years experience training dogs in a professional setting. Over these years working with Bobby Dorafshar I have accumulated hands-on experience working with over 300 dogs and over 2000 hours observing dog behavior. The first rule of training a dog is to love it, and to make it love you; in order for the training to transfer to the owner the dog must be educated and learn to make decisions; in order for the dog to learn it must not be under stress (physical or mental); a good trainer never hits, never uses physical force, and never ever yells or raises her voice; both the trainer and the dog must learn patience; the dogs must learn that when they listen they will be loved and praised (this is the only way to ensure the training will last); and above all else, the dogs must leave K9s Only being happier and healthier than when they came in. Pros: TRAINING WITH LOVE, HEALTH BENEFITS, INTELLIGENT CARING STAFF Cons: Please let us know if you find any; we are constantly trying to improve. more

Welcome! Come take a tour! We look forward to meeting you! 4/2/2008

I invite all prospective clients to come into K9s Only, meet me and my staff and take a tour. We look forward to meeting you and your dogs!\r Bobby Dorafshar\r Owner Pros: Educated, dog loving staff. Great location! Cons: Sorry! We are closed Sundays. more

fantastic place to take your dogs!!!!!!!! 1/31/2008

This place was just recommend to me by someone I met at the dog park. I was pleasantly surprised by the posh environment. My dog recently had knee surgery, and we signed up for some water therapy. I am happy to report that Duke has benefited greatly from his swim time. The staff at K9s only is warm and loving. As soon as Duke is 100% recoverd, we are going to start training. Thank you K9s only for opening up the best dog facility in the valley!! Pros: this place has everything: boarding, training, wellness, daycare and grooming Cons: i can't stay over night more

A WONDERFUL PLACE TO TAKE YOUR DOG! 1/28/2008

I found K9s Only last year, just after they opened. I was happy to find them because, living in the Valley, I didn?t have many boarding options. Every time I?ve gone, and there have been many (I travel for my job), both my dogs have come back very happy, and eager to return. I was a bit surprised by some of the bad reviews, so, even though it?s not something I normally do,(Because, who has time to write reviews these days!) I decided to write a review. But I thought this might be helpful to someone else, in my position, who?s looking for a great boarding and training facility. Every time I dropped off or picked up my two dogs (I have a little 5 lb mutt named Greta and a Golden Lab named Leo?) I have been treated very kindly (And I?m not a celeb!). My dogs are happy and the staff who works there are devoted to their care. Sung, the groomer is so gentle and sweet. Greta can be VERY shy at times and Sung never pushes her. I took Greta to a different groomer one week because Sung was closed on Wednesday and though Greta came back clean, she was shaking with fear. I don?t know what they did to her, but I NEVER encountered that with Sung. Bobby is a genuine dog lover. He?s got a heart full of gold (I was so impressed with his work saving dogs in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina). He?s an excellent trainer and really knows his stuff. He has a great training staff as well. Sharon is a gem and both my dogs love her and Bobby. I had some aggression issues with Leo and after the training; my family and I were amazed by the transformation. It took some practice to get my kids, husband and I on the same page, but once we did, Leo was working with us just as well as he worked with Bobby and Sharon. I highly recommend K9s Only. Check it out for yourself! Pros: Wonderful caring staff, very clean, very professional, excellent care for my dogs. Cons: Closed on Sundays more

It's not Gold just because it glitters! 1/21/2008

Sadly the positive reviews simply bought the dazzle. Under the invoked celebrity status, the hyped credentials and shiny facade is nothing but a money making operation.\r \r Aggressive sales techniques, not customer appreciation (unless you are an actor or comparable), overbooking, nickel and diming, high turn around, in-experienced staff (cheaper and do not question much) and traing largely successful by using excessive force.\r \r Does your dog really care about a TV? Or would Fido or Fiffy rather be pampered in a less shiny environment with more care? Look around a bit, you'll fnd less harmful training for half the price. more

not is all that it seems... 12/14/2007

Only two problems.... he did not provide workers compensation coverage for his employees. Too bad he cares so much about for his animals and not his employees. \r \r He is in it for the money and will over book for the almighty dollar. \r \r Not is all that it seems...... so sad....... \r \r \r \r more

Response to inhanceeg review from manager of K9s Only 12/6/2007

This is actually a response to the review by inhanceeg regarding K9s Only training program. As with any training program, it is extremely important that the owner learns how to work with the dog. While this owner's dog was here, we had the dog walking past and working around many other dogs (although that was not the original reason the dog was brought in for training). Not only were pictures of this provided, but the owner actually witnessed the dog in the company of other dogs with no aggression. He stated at the time that he was highly impressed with training. When an attempt was made to schedule the required 4 follow-up sessions (once 4 are completed, all owners get free follow-up sessions for the life of the dog), the owner was never available. We offer free support to all of our in-kennel clients so we can help the owners learn the handling techniques to solve behavioral issues. If the owner does not take the time to work with us and work with his dog, there is little we can do. It's all about the relationship between owner and dog that determines how the dog behaves in certain situations and environments. We encourage all of our clients to come in for follow-up sessions so we can provide them the support they need. more

Kennel with an Attitude 10/4/2007

My husband and I have left our dog at K9's Only twice now in the past year. The first time was a great experience and they seemed to have genuinely cared for our dog. So we had no hesitation to bring him back again recently. But, I was surpised when we came to pick up our dog the last visit, that the groomer could not handle cleaning him properly. She claimed that she could not clip his nails or wash his ears because he did not like it. This seemed ridiculous to me, since other groomers can do the job, without any problems. And isn't this her job?\r \r In addition, when we picked him up the second time, the staff seemed to care less about our dog. On our fist visit, we received a report card, which was quite unique. They claimed to have been too busy and understaffed the second time to give us a report card.\r We were in a bind and needed a place for our dog to stay this upcoming weekend. I was told we could not drop him off on sunday as there was no front desk staff there. This is a bit annoying, but forgiveable. So we accepted we would have to drop him off on Saturday and pay the extra day. The clincher was when they told me that if we did not pick our dog up by 12:00pm on Tuesday, we would have to pay a late fee, even if we were only 1 hour late. Apparently, they act just like a hotel and there are no acceptions.Even though we had been there twice before, it made no diffrence. We decided we will not be boarding our dog there ever again. This is not because of the money, but, because they show no appreciation for the customer. \r \r It seems like K9's Only has a bit of an attitude now. If you are seeking a nice, loving kennel to take your dog to, I would not reccommend K9's Only. They care more about their aromatherapy and canine suites with flat screen TV's, then they do about the care and comfort of the dog. I only hope that they go back to their roots and remember to appreciate the customer and their pets. more

Great Boarding and Training Facility ! 8/3/2007

I have two large breed dogs , German Shepards to be exact. They went thru a training program earlier this year and what a difference. They listen and respond to commands better and now I can walk them both by myself a lot easier then before. A neighbor of mine is now attending the weekly training classes for her Australian Shepard. I was very impressed with this facility . . . the cleanliness, the staff and the love and care that was shown towards my dogs. They have a great play yard, indoor/outdoor, with a couple of wading pools for these hot summer days. The early daycare dropoff time really helps me on workdays. I know my dogs are in good hands at K9's Only. I would recommend them to anyone who cares about the well being of their pets . . . big or small. Pros: Very clean, large facility but most important - HAPPY DOGS ! Cons: None that come to mind. more

A beautiful place worthy of my Blu. 8/3/2007

I was hesitant leaving my dog for two weeks the first time in 6 years, especially on her birthday!!! When I walked in I was greeted by a helpful staff and the owner Bobby Dorafshar. I had heard of Bobby from all the animal rescues that he had done, the work he did for Hurricane Katrina survivors and by reputation from a few of his past clients. Once I realized that K9s Only was Bobby's brain child my anxieties lifted and I knew that I was leaving Blu is the hands of the best. I was introduced to the staff and given a tour of the place. I was amazed at the level of attention they had paid to all aspect of the doggie experience. I left Blu not knowing whether she would ever want to leave that place. \r ........... \r \r Over the next two weeks I called a few times and was always given a report on how Blu was. The staff was helpful in putting my mind at ease. When I returned to get Blu she was groomed and happy to see me. They had pictures of her playing with other dogs, swimming, doing tricks and on her birthday they had thrown her a party complete with cake, playmates and feathered headgear!!! I don?t know how am I going to top that next year??? The pictures K9s Only gave me of Blu doesn't really look like she missed me that much.\r ........... \r \r What a great place, what cool people. Thank you for treating my little (92lbs) girl like the most important dog you have in the place. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased. You guys rock!!! Pros: A five-star doggie experince fit for your best friend. Best of all ... Bobby Dorafshar and staff who could ask for more! Cons: She had so much fun I don't think my dog missed me at all!!! more

Looks and sounds too good to be true, and it is in my opinion. 7/8/2007

Okay. I did not like my experience taking my dog to K9s Only. Nothing dramatic happened, no injuries or such though my dog did come home with worms and nobody had told me about that. The place looks great and smells clean and the owner is a hell of a salesman. I felt pressured into leaving my dog for training instead of leaving him for 4 days boarding. He would not take No for an answer! I did not appreciate that. When I asked about how much time the dogs get to interact and play every single staff member gave me a different answer. I asked how long they had worked there and appearantly K9s Only has extremly high turn-around. Boarding and Daycare dogs seem to use the same play yard and I was told they go in groups not all at once - that leaves how much play time per dog? My dog was on pins and needles coming home so I'd say not enough. They are not offering any of the group classes on their website, only in kennel training. And the owners swears on those spike collars but as I understand it the training is done by his trainers not really him who advertises 20 years of experience on the website, the two trainers I met seemed very inexperienced. No, it's shiny and clean and all aimed at making the people feel less guilty about leaving their dogs but I think next time I'm getting a pet sitter. And I surely would not let these guys train my dog. Just my 2 cent. Pros: Appearantly Clean, Easy Access Cons: Conflicting Info, Inexperienced Staff, More Sales than Care for Dogs more

Awesome place! Don't be afraid to leave your dogs there. The staff is great, and the dogs can get massages and swim! 6/21/2007

I've always had friends stay with my dogs in my home because I felt uncomfortable boarding them somewhere. For the most part, I don't trust anyone to care for my dogs the way I do. And some of the ""cage free"" places I went to smelled SO BAD, I wondered if they ever cleaned the place. My dogs were expected to get along with everyone and even though they are social, they need their down time and an area to rest on a dog bed without other dogs bugging them.\r \r The first thing I noticed when I walked through the doors of K9s Only is that it smells nice... heck, maybe even better than my house! The reception area is warm and comfortable, and the staff immediately made me feel at ease. They're super nice to the dogs... and the people, too! Their spa area is to die for, so of course, I had to get my dogs massages... and swim passes since they all love the water. It's great that they are able to get special attention while they are there.\r \r Okay, this is getting really long, but let me just say... this place is fantastic! They don't have all that stupid kids gym equipment (what would a dog do with that anyway?)... they have a big indoor/outdoor park with kiddie pools and a lounge area and someone out there to play with them and make sure they get along. And the inside kennels are very clean and comfortable! The suites are amazing. Overall, I would recommend this place highly. My dogs had fun and seemed really attached to the staff, which I think tells a lot. Pros: Friendly staff, extremely clean, great dog park and extra services Cons: I haven't found one! more

great eye candy but not what a big dog needs 3/16/2007

K-9's only is more of a luxury facility that would be better aimed at high class clientel. While it is considerably more affordable then places such as paradise ranch, the fact still remains that dogs don't care if there is a t/v and private bed in their kennel. The facility as a whole is very big, but most of the space is taken up with kennels and the small dog suites. The indoor/outdoor play area is mostly concrete and astro turf and definatley not enough room for a pack of dogs to run around, especially dogs over 20 pounds. The wellness area does look nice and dogs can benefit from it, but from what we saw everything was too small for large breed dogs. If you have a small dog, 20-25 pounds, k-9's only is a nice place but anything larger then that and the place seems a little cramped and pointless for daycare exercise. K-9's only seems to be more for the humans frame of mind and enjoyment then for the animals that are actualy partaking in the service. Pros: Friendly, clean atmosphere, and unique Wellness touch, very welcoming Cons: play area too small, kenells too small for large breeds, handlers seemed inexperienced more

THESE Trainers are the real dog whisperers! I have never seen a better boarding and daycare facility! 1/22/2007

I've interviewed many trainers before and when I met Bobby and Sharon, I was blown away. These guys really know there stuff. Because they are a training facility, their entire staff is very knowledgeable about dogs so I feel absolutely comfortable in boarding my dogs there while I'm out of town. I'm excited about thier wellness facility that will be opening soon. I have a senior dog and he will really benefit from their exercise pool. I haven't used their grooming facility yet, but it looks VERY clean and you can see everything that's going on right from their (beautiful) reception area. I highly recommend this facility!\r \r P.S. The suites are amazing! I splurged and got training and a suite for my beloved! Pros: Only facility of it's kind in the valley, close to the 101 freeway, amazing staff, beautiful facility more

Have taken my dogs to other boarding places and they were not satisfactory - my dogs loved K9s Only - they had play time, watched TV, played in there swimming pool. Just had a great time 1/13/2007

Exceptionally clean, no dog smells. My dogs can watch TV, play in their big back yard. All of their staff cares and are CPR and Emergency first aid certified. They have Filtered water for the dogs, special filter A/C and heating for the dogs. They'll also Train your dog if you want. They have grooming facilities and soon a Wellness Center.\r \r My dogs had home made meals and that's more than I do for myself as a bachlor.\r \r There outside play area is spotless allergy free.\r \r You don't have any guilt feelings in leaving your puppies or older dogs there Pros: Extremely pleased with the knowledgeable staff and cleanlyness and their care more
