Recommend - Good Moving Experience 3/1/2010

I approached Jordan River Moving for a household goods move from Seattle to New York with a lot of doubt and scepticism due to previous bad experiences with other moving companies. However, I can say with full confidence that they did everything they said they would, they were on time, and both their pick-up delivery crews were excellent, with the goods arriving in perfect condition. Horrible experience 1/26/2010

Absolutely horrible experience from start to finish. \r \r Packing. On moving day, we were 90% packed and Jordan River was to help with the last boxes. When we unpacked, we had dishes broken because they had stacked 25 and 30 pound dumbbells on top of them with no padding. They also packed slug bait poison with dishes.\r \r Moving. We had all kinds of breaks and dings occur during the move. Furniture was gouged, art broken, and a new elliptical machine destroyed in the process. Given that the move was one block, it was pretty incredible. If you want fast, they're great. If you want your stuff to arrive in decent shape, it's a bad bet.\r \r Repairing. When we gave them the laundry list, they fixed the easy stuff (which was appreciated.) But they also took a bedframe without our permission and didn't return it for two weeks. \r \r Taking responsibility. Absolutely horrible on this front. Cheap and easy things they handled. Expensive problems, they disclaimed all responsibility. In fact, they are disclaiming all responsibility for ANYTHING ELECTRIC (not electronic, electric -- if you plug it in, they can do whatever they want apparently). Great Moving Experience 12/9/2009

I hate moving and when I asked my friends for help they all rolled their eyes but one suggested a company they ahd just used. So I called them up and they gave me their rates, even suggested a 3 man crew so I could save time and money (which I did). The movers were so fast and had everything loaded before I could catch my breath. I have lots of stuff and figured it would take all day but I was very pleased with this move and I will definately use them again. I gave them a huge tip for all their had work! Please thank my movers again for me. Pros: Movers were quick Cons: Didn't have any more

First Rate Moving Company 10/20/2009

I was far from organized for this move and on moving day the team graciously assisted me with all of the additional packing. They professionally handled my last minute requests and balanced our my frazzled state of mind. \r \r I had several over sized items and everything made it to storage or my new home in beautiful condition. They even helped me arrange the storage unit to utilize all of the space. \r \r I would be remiss not to comment on Lona's patient and kind customer service during the planning stage. \r \r I confidently recommend Jordon River Moving & Storage and will certainly use the group again for my next move. more

expensive 7/8/2009

After a painstakingly detailed description of the household items to be moved, the sales person said that the 27 foot truck would be more then enough. It was not even close and I had to rent another truck the next day and take two additional loads myself at great expense. There were also extra charges that should have been included like; plastic on the carpet because it was raining. I physically assisted the professional movers and I worked faster then any of them. I would also advise anything of value that is small be moved by you personally. My oldest son's piggy bank is still missing. I am not certain were it went. If anyone reads this, I would suggest going with another moving company. Like another review stated, I wish I could give zero stars.\r \r anthonic more

Be careful on long distance moves 10/17/2008

Why is it that when you're moving long distances everything is fabulous to start and ends up as a ball of frustration in the end? All I'm going to say is be careful if you're moving long distances with any moving company. Basically Jordan River lied about contracting another company for our move. I wanted a company that would pick up and deliver our items door to door. I wanted a company that I could trust to take all of our personal possesions cross country for us. They ended up selling our move to another company and now I have damaged items and missing items!!! Feels like every moving company is full of the same bs.\r I gave them 2 stars because at least they were on time. more

\r The customer called us looking to get the man?s name and our customer service representative told him she would look into the situation and get back to him. The following day the customer called back again claiming that his car was now missing. When the customer service representative asked if he had contacted the police, he responded that he had not contacted the police because he was waiting for us to get information about the temp worker. She asked him, ?Why wouldn?t you call the police, when your car is missing.? The whole situation is very strange and we are not responsible for anything that may have happened when the customer let someone into his home unsupervised. We cannot even be sure this was the same person who helped our mover unload the items. \r Once the move is completed and all the paperwork is signed the moving company is no longer responsible. During all phases of the move nothing was missing or damaged. Every thing was done professionally and the delivery was completed on time, for less money than the customer had expected to pay. \r For the customer to say that he received poor service from Jordan River Moving & Storage is not only rude, it is simply untrue. I urge any potential customer reading this complaint to look at all of the wonderful reviews there are about our company. We would also be more than happy to provide anyone with referrals from other customers who were very happy with the service they received from our company. We would also like to make it clear that the ?facts? this customer provided about our company are completely false and untrue.\r more

Jordan River Moving - stolen car, iPods; JR doesn't know employee's name 8/24/2008

So far missing two iPods and, briefly, my car, and Jordan River Moving and Storage has no records, not a name, not an address, not a driver's license photocopy, of the second person unloading my stuff into my house. Pros: any pro was cover for horrible service and reprehensible staff Cons: May hire thieves and criminals, don't seem to care. Cheap price means poor quality, possibly criminal labor force, and cost afterwards to replace stolen goods more

Jordan River Saved My Relationship 4/29/2008

My Girlfriend and I moved in together recently. We called Jordan River and spoke with Matt who was professional and did a great job of setting my expectations. When the movers arrived they were very professional and we were amazed with how quickly they worked. All of our stuff was handled with care and nothing was damaged in the move. They packed up and loaded our stuff into their truck, drove it to the new house, and unloaded it into specific rooms in HALF the time I expected.\r \r I highly recommend Jordan River and Matt and their moving teams! more

I was most pleased with my recent Jordan River move. They arrived on time and quickly began loading the truck within just a few minutes of arrival. \r \r I used Jordan River Moving to move me from Seattle, WA to Los Angeles, CA. I have moved many times in the past 25 years and have always used the large well known moving companies. Each and every time I had horrific experiences. Broken items, missing items, unreliable delivery times, missed delivery times, rank amateurs passing themselves off as professionals, etc.\r \r I had expected much of the same with this move. I started by talking to the management office in the building I was to move out of. I ask many questions about the various moving companies that were in and out of the building and what residents were saying about their experiences.\r \r Only one name continued to be repeated in a positive light: Jordan River Moving & Storage.\r \r I met with the owner and his staff and found them to be quite helpful although I was still doubtful that this move would go smoothly.\r On moving day they showed up on time and the staff packed up my home as if my belongings were their own. As the truck left with all of my possessions aboard, I was still certain that things would go wrong as they always have with long distance moves.\r \r Los Angeles, California: Three days later the truck showed up on time. My things were undamaged and nothing was missing! Moving is always stressful but this time things went extremely well. Avoid Jordan River Moving & Storage 3/10/2008

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! We moved long distance using this company and it was the worst service we have ever received. We had red flags from day one. First, their office location was a joke, not professional at all. The employees picking up our property did not speak English, they could not explain the paperwork, and they did an inadequate job at properly listing all of our property so later on when we tried to claim for the lost property, no refund could be returned to us. They lost things, damaged ALL of our major/bigger furniture, furniture was not reassembled properly, they lost screws and lied to us about damages they tried to conceal. It was so bad, that their own employee?s said to us to inspect everything thoroughly because ?this company was not to be trusted.? Unfortunately, the only way for us to get our furniture when delivering it to our new location, was to pay them up for everything before we could inspect for damages, otherwise we would have kept the money for their unprofessional services. Their claim process was another joke; they through a third party Arbitration Company that treated us like we did something wrong from day one. This process was the most excruciating, tiring, and waste of time we have ever been through; we had to fight tooth and nail to get any money back for their lack of professionalism. It took about 8 months to finish this process and I am advising you to keep away from having to go through this. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! Cons: everything!!!! more

A good business is determined in how they handle problems. This is a good business. 2/10/2008

Problems? Yeah, but they know how to handle if you talk with them. I'm not sure of the other folks who posted here or if there have been changes in employees since then, but overall, The experience was a good one. These are honest guys just trying to make an honest living.\r \r I've had several cross-country moves and have never had one go smoothly. This one was no exception - things went wrong and problems arose. HOWEVER, a good business is not about perfections, its reflected in how they handle problems and I've NEVER had success working with a moving company when there were problems UNTIL NOW. \r \r The problems I had were very typical of a moving company and nothing new to me. Just annoying. But for the first time, I had a moving company that seemed to really care about these annoyances because they feel that I hired a moving company so I could relax. A moving company that recognizes why they were hired? WOW!\r \r Since my items were being loaded directly into storage, they saw that my table got scratched and sent it immediately to the refinisher - People - I WASN'T there. Do you know how rare that is? Also, having moved before, cost changes are really not unusual, and again, this was no exception. My stuff also changed, but still, having done this before, for a telephone quote a change of $695.00 is NOTHING. Then, when my storage cost came in more than expected, they worked with me on the cost a little bit to make up for the problems I did have.\r \r Finally, to have them store my items I had to pay for ""handling."" At first, I thought this sounded like a scam, but guess what - they move my stuff into my new apartment (when I get it) FOR FREE! That is awesome. \r \r So, problems - yeah. But they fixed the ones I talked to them about and even the ones I didn't talk to them about. That is an unusual experience and I will use them again. And just in case you are wondering, a friend recommended them and I've never met these people before in my life. Pros: Handle problems well, bend over backwards to correct issues, stuff arrived in one piece on time. Cons: Tardiness of driver, but then again, I changed the day at the last minute. more

Best Movers I've Ever Used! 2/6/2008

I've been using Jordan River Moving LLC for over 5 years now. They have moved me locally three times and were great every time. My husband is in the military and we move frequently. Our last move was to Idaho where the movers provided a full packing service. Again they were very polite and provided excellent service. Jordan River was very honest and provided a weighing of my truck before and after loading with certified receipts. They called me to let me know my weight was less than orginally quoted and I was given a reduction on the originally quoted price and not one item was damaged. My sales person was Matt and he provided great customer service from start to finish. I won't hesitate to use this company again and I've referred them to all of my friends and family. SCAM ARTISTS 11/23/2007

I used this company to move me from San Fransisco to Woodinville, Wa. From the moment these guys walked in my front door it was a nightmare. They told me that the quote I got was incorrect and that it was going to be $1200 more to move me. By that time I was leaving on a plane the next day and did not have time to find other movers so I had to pay it. Then they finally delivered my stuff 6 days late! If that was not frustrating enough we have a long driveway and when they got there at 10pm they said that they could not get truck up driveway and that they needed to go back to the warehouse and load my things into a smaller truck and would not make it back for 2 more days..... On top of it they charged me another $400 to switch out trucks and come back or as they put it ""will keep my things until I payed them"" After it was all said and done they screwed my for over $1600 on top of the $2500 it cost to move me. I would never advise anyone to use these guys. They are AWFUL!!!!!! Cons: Rip off, scam artists, hard to work with more

Move August 26th 8/25/2006

Hello,\r \r On Saturday the 26th of August a team of three men were sent to move our belongings from Kirkland to Bellvue. I have never seen so much hussle in my life. There were really a great team. The job foreman was helpful explaining all the types of insurance to us. They wrapped everthing I was worried about and any damamge sustained (which is to be expected whenmoving) was extreemly minimal. I have put in a good word for this moving company with everyone I know who is moving. more
