Thanks for the Red Flags! 5/18/2012

Thanks for the warnings, Dr P., but where did they go, all your physician's remarks you attached to each of the many negative reviews written against you, your diagnoses made public that the patients who wrote those reviews (the patients you're suing) are mentally disturbed? You see, some of us who read these reviews are the kind of people who would be very interested in the word of a reputable physician like yourself about other people's mental states.(Of course, doctors can never be mentally disturbed. That privilege is reserved for patients only.) We are employers, and renters, and loan officers, and law enforcement officers, and lawyers, and yes, even doctors, too. As each of us knows, you can't be too careful these days, so when a doctor with an excellent reputation like yourself gives his considered opinion--an opinion he held strongly enough to not only make public, but to repeat over, and over, and over again--those of us working in the business community don't like to see such valuable information go to waste. We were disappointed to see that for some reason you decided to remove those remarks. We feel that your first impulse was the better one. No matter. Your warnings made an impact, such an impact in fact that we took the precaution of preserving them in screenshots. Again, thanks for the red flags. We'll be sure to refer to them whenever we find ourselves having to deal with these mentally disturbed people. After all, and as you know from being a businessman yourself, these days you can't be too careful. Cheers! more

The Peddler in the Square 5/14/2012

I draw my idea of the form of government from a principle in nature, which no art can overturn, viz. that the more simple any thing is, the less liable it is to be disordered, and the easier repaired when disordered. ~Thomas Paine A peddler wants to be allowed to stand in the village public square to sell his wares, to clang and bang, and to have his helpers help him clang and bang, to shout his invitation to the villagers to come to him; and on the strength of his promises, explicit and implied; to pay him large sums of money to risk having their bodies harmed. But when a series of harms occurs, and the victims want to be accorded the same privilege as the peddler--the privilege to stand in the same public square to bang and clang their message--, because the peddler disapproves of their message, because their message is against him, he stops them. The peddler hires lawyers to not only drive these people off the square, but to then conduct punitive raids on their homes and families, to loot as much they can; as if the harm the peddler has thus far done to these people and the money he has thus far taken from them isn't harm enough. Then the peddler, multiplying his outrages, when the village press in the course of doing its job--for a newspaper is expected to report on curious persons who by their own loud actions and temperamental antics scream to be noticed, if not lampooned--sics his lawyers on the newspaper, too. (Whatever happened to E.K. Hornbeck's dictum that it is the duty of a newspaper to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable?) Pardon us for asking, Mr. Peddlerman, but who do you think you are? If the public square is to be declared your exclusive domain, if your right to make your living in the occupation of your choosing is to supersede the villagers' right to share an important warning--a warning that could save them and their loved ones from unspeakable harm--then you'll have to excuse us, Mr. Peddlerman, because this is far too important an issue for us to take your word on it alone. We'll need to have a word or two about it from The U.S. Supreme Court. Tony Scalia will want his chance to shed a tear or two in sympathy with you. The worldwide internet has made the world a village. The people of the village are watching you, Mr. Peddlerman, and a crowd has begun to gather. With morbid fascination the crowd watches the spectacle. It watches your thuggery. It watches you push and shove the villagers around. It watches you terrorize, intimidate, and impede free speech and free expression. It waits with consternation to see whether the U.S. Constitution will be able to withstand yet another challenge to its First Amendment. The crowd wonders whether a peddler who screwed up his livelihood by screwing up his customers will be allowed to turn the concept of personal responsibility on its head, whether he will be allowed to blame the whole thing on those customers, as well as on those who would rightfully call attention to his conduct--to the shameless outrages and squalid maneuvers of a powerful, unscrupulous peddler who spares no expense in committing the ultimate betrayal--the betrayal of those who gave him their money, their bodies, and their highest trust. When peddlers behave like feudal lords then the time has come--the time is overdue--to create legal distinctions to welcome them to the 21st century. more

""Laughing Stock & Co., Inc."" 4/30/2012

How can it be said, except by attorneys sworn to zealously indulge their stupid client, of a doctor who has been involved in 15 court cases, including multiple medical malpractice lawsuits filed against him, that here is a doctor with an excellent reputation? How, after being once again accused by his patients of doing them harm, can anyone expect to be taken seriously as they attempt to portray such a doctor as the victim of defamation? There comes a time, and I think it's come by now, when the things people say become self-discrediting, and require no further comment from anyone. There is no question that there will be some consideration given to adding my name to the list of defendants (the Pensler gang will find it stimulating to pick on someone their own size). There is no question that there will be some consideration given to adding the names of those who have posted elsewhere. The more interesting question is how long before Dr. Pensler gives up his practice of surgery entirely to devote himself full-time to the practice of suing anyone who dares hold forth against him. His attorneys may want to partner with him on this. I can suggest a name for their new enterprise: ""Laughing Stock & Co.."" Of course, they'll want to incorporate. more

Some Things are Best Told by the Book's Cover 4/29/2012

My broker has a place on the Vineyard. My stylist is perfectly coiffed. My dealer drives a Lamborghini (on weekends). The chef at our favorite restaurant joins us in his signature dish. Every expert we deal with has something conspicuous about them, something they wear like a badge, some accouterment, some possession, something in their countenance that announces to the world that they are a master at what they do. Each looks their part. How anyone could expect that a man born with the face of a mackerel could under any circumstances be among the best qualified to judge the beauty of the human form is far beyond me to understand. There are some things that no amount of education or training or experience can ever transcend. more

Patient Husbandry 4/29/2012

Dear Farmer Pensler, Shear as many sheep as you can. Just do it quietly. Because when the shearing turns to butchering, and the butchering turns to lawyering, it makes a lot of noise. When one sheep sends up a bleating cry of distress, the flock scatters. From then on those sheep are shy. From then on those sheep are harder to catch, harder for you, and harder for the farmer next door. From then on, it does not matter how many positive reviews are posted, or any other means of enticement, authentic or otherwise. Sheep may be dumb, but they frighten easily, and they never forget. They will never completely trust you again, or what you represent. The sound produced when doctors sue patients is a klaxon to the public ear. Played in sharp contrast to the physician's traditional image of beneficent strength and intelligent reserve, it is the loudest thing in the world. It thunders over anything that might be heard to the contrary. You have made a bad situation worse, and like your botched surgeries, the harm cannot be undone. Ours is a profession of the highest calling. As such, certain things should be beneath us. Throughout its history, every now and then, doctors like you have pulled it into the gutter. This will be resisted. Shame on you. For the time being, shame on us all. The Farmers Next Door more

CHICAGO'S BEST!!!! 2/13/2012

First off, let me start by saying Dr. Pensler is THE MAN!!!!!!! I went in for gynecomastia surgery a few weeks ago & couldn't be happier with the results. no more feeling self-conscious at the beach or anywhere else i had to take my shirt off...... my only regret was not not getting this surgery done earlier in my life. if your unsure about getting this surgery done DON'T BE! it'll be the best investment you EVER make. any questions will be answered by his AWESOME staff, who take care of you from beginning to end. I will undoubtedly recommend Dr. Pensler in the future to anybody I know who might need this surgery. The man changed my life. more

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. 7/26/2011

I find it alarming that these positive reviews read like paid advertizements. A reader of these reviews has no way of knowing whether a review is authentic, or whether it is a fraudulent review planted to boost the doctor's rating. Patients who relied on positive reviews in making their decision to undergo treatment by Dr Pensler and who are unhappy with that treatment should consider talking with a lawyer about verifying the authenticity of those positive reviews. Dr Pensler's legal team has already demonstrated how this is done. Though a fraudulent negative review can affect a doctor's income, a fraudulent positive review can lead a patient to harm. I leave it to your consideration which kind of fraudulent review stands to do the greatest harm. When considering having surgery, especially the kind of elective cosmetic surgeries doctors advertize on the internet, don't go it alone. Always let a trusted professional be your guide. Consult your primary care physician (your family doctor) before having any surgery. more

Cleft Lip and Palate 6/4/2011

Wow, I can't believe some of these reviews! We have been seeing Dr. Pensler since before my 8yr old was born when we found out he had a cleft during a ultrasound. Our first meeting he took the time to look at the ultrasound, explain to us the different possibilities, and what a possible plan going forward would be. He explained that with children with clefts it is not just a single surgery,it is a relationship lasting 20 years. We decided then that he would have the final say on on medical procedures on our son. We run everything by Dr. Pensler to see how things fit in the overall plan.Through all six surgeries so far he and his staff have been nothing but professional they have gone out of their way to be friendly to us and our son. When we call they know us by name. When some money challenges came along and our Insurance did not cover needed procedures Dr. Pensler even adjusted his fee but 75%! Our experience has been the complete opposite of what some of these reviews are saying. more

My surgery brought out a whole new level of confidence 3/21/2011

I was completely flat chested my whole life. I had curves everyplace else, but I didn?t feel that I was proportionate. I wanted to feel more like a woman. And, from the time I was 18 I started thinking about having a breast enlargement. I was curious about what it would feel like and what I would look like to filling out a bathing suit or a shirt. At the time nothing looked good on me. I also wanted to feel more comfortable with my body. So I waited until I was 25, because I wanted to make sure that I had stopped growing, and especially because this is a major life decision. I?m kind of sporty in general and felt a little boyish. I was not even an A. Now everything looks great. Seriously, there?s not one item of clothing that I put on that doesn?t look good. And anyone that didn?t know me before had no idea I even had the surgery. Dr. Pensler did an amazing job. They look completely natural it?s unbelievable. Mine are silicone and they feel very natural. They do not look fake without a bra. I was confident before the surgery, but the surgery has brought out a whole new level of confidence. I also feel better because when I fluctuate a few pounds with my weight it doesn?t look so disproportionate because now I have something up top. As far as Dr. Pensler goes, he?s an amazing doctor and I trusted him 100%. He made me feel so comfortable and I was back to work in three days. I was on medication for a short while just to help me with the pressure but about two to three weeks later I felt great and was completely back to normal after only 2 months. Now it?s been 5 months and I feel like they?ve been mine the whole time. Kim S. Aurora, IL more

I do not recommend Dr. Pensler. I hated my results 11/14/2010

I do not recommend Dr. Pensler. I hated my results and I will need additional surgery to fix the work he performed. Also, Dr. Pensler has filed lawsuits against three former patients who have written terrible reviews about him. You can check out the lawsuits on cookcountyclerk.... Case numbers 10 CH 35238, 10 CH 35876, 09 CH 18628. He has also been sued multiple times (at least 8 times), including for medical malpractice, look up those cases as well.\r \r more

Liposuction Experience 10/31/2010

Hi this is Susan Lee. I am going to tell you about how it's feel when u can find yourself better looking than ever. Few months before I was a 27 years old lady carrying extra fat on my heap, thigh, waste, breast. Whenever I used to go outside from my home or office I can find people of my age heaving a good figure, carrying beautiful cloths.I was so jealous to see that. I could only dream of having such a figure. Then I found Dr. Jay M Pensler on the internet that he is an excellent plastic surgeon all over the Chicago.. So I went to him. To get an appointment I did not have to wait much longer for an appointment. He suggested a liposuction surgery to reduce extra fat from my body. I got totally convinced and agreed to do the surgery. After having the surgery I have no extra fat. And the surgery is almost scarless. Whenever I get outside I don't feel jealous any more. I am just like one of them. My figure is slim and attractive too. Everybody is astonished with my sudden change and I am too much happy with the result. more

I Feel So Much Better About Myself 10/19/2010

I had been thinking about having a breast augmentation since I was 16. But, my main concern is that they wouldn?t look good. My breasts were very small and I felt really out of place. Now, after the surgery I am a full C/D. I love the way I fill out my clothes ? my shirts don?t look funny and dresses are a lot easier to wear. I am happier with the way I look. And I feel A LOT more confident. It makes me feel good to be noticed. My breasts are perfect. They don?t sag, and they are round. I can go without a bra and there?s no sagging. And, what I like the most is that there are no flaws and I look so much more proportional. I decided to have Dr. Pensler do my breast I augmentation because two of my friends had the same surgery and they really liked him and the way they look. I liked Dr. Pensler as soon as I met him and everyone in the office was really cool and really nice. What I couldn?t believe, is that I felt completely fine after two days. And It only took me 2-3 days to recover. I had my surgery on a Thursday and was I was driving and back at work on Monday but I was out shopping on Sunday. I would tell anyone who was considering a breast augmentation to go with the size that Dr. Pensler recommends. Eventhough I am young, I have good credit and was able to finance this on my own. At my consultation, Dr. Pensler's explained all the options to finance my augmentation to make it work. Caitlyn J. Elburn, IL more

Now, my daughter likes what she sees. 10/13/2010

As a mother, it's like, what did I do wrong? Did I not take enough prenatal vitamins? Did I drink too much milk? My daughter Caly was born with a cleft palate. She had a hole in her face. My husband and I, fearful of not knowing what to do, who to turn to, or trust, asked the pediatrician we had at the time. ?If this was your daughter and this was her face, whom would you turn to?? He got us the name of Dr. Jay Pensler, Children's Memorial, Chicago, Illinois. That one decision is the decision that has affected Caly?s life and will forever affect her in the greatest of ways. We went to Dr. Pensler, scared. Caly was having problem breathing. She couldn't sleep, her tongue was hanging out and Dr. Pensler explained to us the implications of her cleft palate and scope of her birth defect. If you've never had a cleft palate child, you don't know. It entails many, many things. It's a lot more than cosmetic surgery; it's reconstructive surgery inside of her face. Now, when Caly sees other kids who have had cleft palates, she says, ?Mom, that could have been me. Thank you. Thank you to Dr. Pensler.? Today, she is a beautiful, beautiful 15-year-old girl. Now, when my daughter looks in the mirror, she does not see a birth defect. She does not see a hole in her face. She does not see someone who was born with this horrible thing. She likes what she sees. She likes who she is. And it's because we went to the best surgeon who took us under his wing and did something immediately when other doctors said, wait, wait, wait. Dr. Pensler corrected Caly?s face in such a way that you really have to look for the scar. He is a perfectionist. To know Dr. Pensler is to know that he is a perfectionist. He told us, ?Don't worry, I will treat her like she's my own.? And he has never strayed from that commitment to this day. He talks to Caly on a very personal level. He talks to her about school. He talks to her about her life. He's interested in what she's doing, what she thinks. She loves going to see him. The decision to go with Dr. Pensler has affected my daughter?s life, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. She was never called names, she was never made fun out of, and no one treated her any differently. With each surgery, she's looked better, and she's felt better. Don't get me wrong, she looked bad. I mean, she came out of the surgeries, she looked bad. But eventually when the swelling came down, she looked beautiful. Caly?s lips are full and beautiful. That?s what you see because Dr. Pensler hid the scar line where the two peaks are above your lip are. You don't know there?s a scar. If you are fearful about giving your child to a doctor because you don?t know what can be done, look at my beautiful daughter today. She's blossoming into a young woman, The last thing that's on her mind is the scar on her face. She doesn't even see it. It is something that, it's not there. There are no words in the English language to express my gratitude for what Dr. Pensler has done. Dr. Pensler has give Caly opportunities for a life that she would not have had with any other doctor, I can honestly say, I could not have found her a better doctor. No way. I know I found the best. Best Plastic Surgeon in Chicago!!! 7/22/2010

I had a rhinoplasty by Dr. Pensler last year. I had never liked my nose, especially in my profile, but I hadn?t really thought about having plastic surgery. Then my friend had her nose done by Dr. Pensler and it looked so good. I decided to go in for a consult to see what could be done for me since my friend told me he would do computer simulations. I was really impressed by at how much time Dr. Pensler took explaining the procedure and it was awesome to see how much prettier I would look. I decided to have the surgery but I was little nervous about the recovery. One of the girls in the office told me she had a rhinoplasty by Dr. Pensler and that it was not painful and the recovery was really easy which made me feel more at ease. She was right I didn?t have any pain at all! I was bruised and swollen but I went back to work the day after surgery. Plus, the patient coordinator spent a lot of time with me to go over pre and post operative instructions and also explained to me about financing. I already had Care Credit and I was able to use it for my rhinoplasty. It was such an easy experience and I look so much better now. more
