Best

I was horrified by the written reviews on this company as they are soon to visit our home, but I always believe in giving credit where credit is due.\r \r My name is Steve Jacob...

No major problems 9/16/2009

This company installed my Direct TV stuff in June 2009. I thought they did a fine job. I was confused about how to use the Direct TV system, but really, it would have take a couple of hours for the tech to sit down and go through EVERYTHING with me. That's why I have teenagers! I'm getting service installed in a new room in the next couple of weeks. I will update this review if anything changes. Pros: Courteous, good installation job, prompt Cons: Could have done better job explaining how to use system more

Excellent Service So Far... 2/21/2009

I was horrified by the written reviews on this company as they are soon to visit our home, but I always believe in giving credit where credit is due.\r \r My name is Steve Jacobson on 150th in Tigard. When I called Ironwood this Saturday morning, they (a)picked-up the phone on the first ring, and (b)immediately responded to my concern about having to wait so long for my equipment installation. The woman who answered the phone was conversant with their system and immediately helped me to the extent she was able to do so. She politely explained their situation and did her best to address my concerns. She was very patient during the phone call. \r \r We'll see how it goes with the installation, and also my request that they get someone out here in the next day or two, per my request for an accelerated installation. So far, so good. Thx! Pros: a qualified person answered the telephone Cons: delayed installation schedule more

HORRIBLE Workmanship! NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT 1/24/2009

I completely agree with the others who gave them a poor rating!! They have botched up two installations and we have called repeatedly, written letters, and they always find an excuse!! They are awuful, take absolutely NO responsibility for what they do. They workers are either poorly trained or just dont give a darn about what they do!! And Direct TV wont take any responsibility for it either so you are screwed. I will NEVER let another one of them in my house. I want to run screaming from Direct TV but when I do I will be sure to find out if the next company uses Ironwood. Be sure to ask and inspect everything they do. Then again, if I knew how to do it myself I would have, they are supposed to be the experts. more

Quite Possibly the Worst Company on the Planet. 10/9/2008

In July 2008, two DirecTV DVRs were installed, at which time the tech damaged the woofer of one floor-standing speaker. I accompanied the tech to his truck where he made a lengthy call to Ironwood (a subsidiary of DirecTV) to report the damage; he assured me someone would call the next day. No one did. Appointments were made and not kept. Phone calls were not returned. The Property Damage Claims rep could most kindly be described as snippy.\r \r Six weeks after the damage, and after many (unreturned) phone calls and letters, DirecTV stated that their tech did not damage the speaker. In a letter to the damage claims supervisor in Englewood Colorado I asked four questions:\r (1) Why would it now be stated that the tech denied damaging the speaker when I heard him do so during a lengthy phone call? \r (2) Why would tech's supervisor assure me that DirecTV is not ""a cheap company"" and that I should not worry about being reimbursed?\r (3) Why would the tech's supervisor agree that both woofers would need to be replaced (since no matching replacement was available) if the tech had not damaged the speaker? \r (4) Why would Ironwood subsequently fire the tech the next workday?\r \r There has been no response. I'm out over $300 and tens of hours of time spent on the phone and writing letters and contacting audiovideo repair shops.\r \r Other issues: they bill for premium channels not ordered and then state that nonetheless I received the service and could not receive credit despite not having ordered it. Promised credits never materialize on the bill. None of the equipment is guaranteed beyond 30 days; your choice is to either pay for a service plan or the full cost of the repairs/replacements. The DVRs repeatedly need to be reset. They nickel and dime you to death with extra charges (e.g., more than one receiver, HD reception). The remote is one of the worst I've had the misfortune to use. On the plus side, the picture is terrific. \r \r Caveat emptor! Pros: None whatsoever (other than the reception). Cons: A company whose hallmarks are dishonesty and incompetence. more

DirecTV installation 5/13/2008

Installer never properly checked whether my HD service was going to work. Now I'm fighting to cancel my DirecTV contract because of a botched installation. more

They answered all my questions! 3/22/2007

The installation company was very friendly and listened to me when had concerns about satellite systems! more

Very poor customer service and not stand behind their words. 9/26/2006

I have had three very bad experiences with Ironwood Communications in approximately one and one-half years. Each time I made appointments for services, the installer was always late, or did not show up. The last time I changed my residence location, I made an appoint for between 1-4 pm. The installed arrived at approximately 5:40pm and could not do the job. I prepared the location as per the installer instructions, then the new installer sent out would not make the insatallation because he did not agree with the first installer. The installer that finally did the job destroyed some of my shrubs by stepping and kneeling on them. The supervisor sent out to view the damage was more than two hours late, and only showed up because I complained to the General Manager of the Vancouver, WA. office. I do not recommend using Ironwood Commumnications Services for anything that requires punctuality and truthfullness. I think Ironwood representatives are trained to say ""I applogize"" when they recieve criticism or complaints, because they use that phrase often and with great ease. more
