Accommodating Staff 12/21/2009

Dropped in with my two young children late Sunday afternoon. Kids had Margherita Pizza and Chicken Parmigiana and loved it, clean plates both. The days specials were well described, I opted for the Barramundi fish and was not disappointed. The appetizers were not too kid friendly but the kitchen rustled up some wonderful Bruschetta which my ravenous twosome devoured .The decor is warm and inviting and the atmosphere mirrors it. I can't wait to revisit with my wife for a cozy evening soiree. Pros: Friendly Prompt Service more

Light Italian fare with friendly service 10/14/2009

My colleague and I had a very pleasant mid-week lunch here. It was marked by attentive service, good food, and reasonable prices in a very friendly, neighborhood place. Looks slightly run-down on the outside, but a very clean, pleasant interior. Pros: Friendly, classy Cons: Parking more

Good service, bad food. 10/4/2009

Nice atmosphere and service, but food is bland and over priced for quality. Sauces were not up to par and lacked flavor. The veal Osso Bucco with risotto was rushed and tasted more like a bland Irish stew with Rice. The Pollo Cipriani was also bland and low quality. Pros: Nice atmosphere, great service. Cons: Bland food, over priced. more

Someone say ""Stake?!"" 10/2/2009

For my best friend's birthday I chose to take her to Tiramisu because I had read good things about it on CitySearch. I was able to make reservations a day in advance for a party of four on Friday night quite easily. When we arrived the atmosphere was very relaxing and mellow. We were able to have a conversation without music or noise drowning us out. When it came to food, I've never really liked red meat but the rib eye steak was delicious. I also tried the salmon filet,it was great too. One of our friends had linguine with mussels, she said it was wonderfully prepared. The desserts were out of this world, we shared the special which was a chocolate roulette filled with a creamy-custard-y filling, the creme brulee and the tiramisu. Our time there was fantastic, everyone enjoyed themselves, the staff was very personable and helpful... Tiramisu didn't leave any room for dissatisfaction. Pros: incrediblely relaxed atmosphere, great food, pleasant waiter Cons: None more

Fine italian Cuisine in the Valley 6/10/2009

The thing about great Italian eateries is that the owners and staff treat each guest as if they were Family. My wife, daughters, and friends have been enjoying this restaurant for many years. Peter and his father have always embraced that Family feeling here which makes this my absolute favorite place to eat. The lasagna here is the best in town, and is my wife's favorite. I love everything from the creative appetizers, to the veal, seafood, and pastas. On my last visit the beet salad was delicious, as was the veal short ribs [osso buco style]. Try it for dinner with friends and family or for a romantic meal for two. I guarantee you will come back again and again. Pros: Great Ambiance, Friendly Service, Exceptional Food Cons: Can't come up with one. more

Wonderful Dining Experience 4/15/2009

We have dined at Il Tiramisu many times over the years. Peter and his Father have always greeted us like a member of the family. The wait staff is pleasant, knowledgable and subtly attentive. Most important, the chef is consistent in conjuring delicious Italian meals; from traditional pastas to unique specials such as trout wrapped in prosciutto.\r \r The monthly wine dinners have developed a strong following. Here they pair wine with each course for a fixed price. A wonderful opportunity to taste new wines in a lovely restaurant atmosphere.\r \r We have enjoyed dining at many restaurants in Los Angeles. Il Tiramisu is our favorite. Pros: Great Food, Personable Service, Wine Dinners! more

Awesome Place for Any Occasion 4/13/2009

I love this restaurant. The service is always great. The Osso Buco is to die for. It is the perfect place for a special occasion or a date. I've been a loyal customer for years. Its a must try if you're in the area. Pros: Fabulous Food, extensive wine list... more

Great place to bring the one you love 4/6/2009

My wife and I love this place and always feel welcomed.\r The food is delicious, the service perfect and setting classy and warm.\r It is worth a visit and I’m sure you’ll return.\r Pros: Best Italian food in the Valley Cons: Small bar/entry, but always fun. more

Fine dining Italian menu and ambience with the most inviting vibe anywhere. 2/4/2009

My fiancee favors their daily specials with exotic soups (frequently pureed with no cream) and exquisitely light but flavorful fish dishes, often in white wine sauces as a nice break from the standard heavy Italian fare. I'm a creature of habit so I usually go for the Arrugua salad with goat cheese, pine nuts and sliced Bressaola (a dry prosciuotto) to start and the best Veal Milanese in town for my entree. The thing we both love is the staff: Peter and his crew have been there for years, they're like family. If I forget to call in advance on a weekend, they manage to get us in. We've had big celebrations as well as romantic dinners for two and we've never been let down. It's the perfect hybrid when you want a cut above but don't want to be stuffy. Pros: Interesting specials, great food and service. Cons: You might get addicted. more

Great Family Run Eatery 1/31/2009

The service is outstanding. I dont think I have ever been attended too so well. I also showed up at 7pm on a Saturday night w/o a reservation. They were able to squeeze me in which was somewhat of a feat considering the size.\r \r The food was great. Prices are reasonable. Dinner for two w/o drinks, including a salad, main and dessert was less than $100 out the door. I will certainly be back. Pros: Service and food Cons: A bit noisy. more

Great food and exceptional service 1/28/2009

I travel to the area once a month and always go to Il Tiraisu for super. The service and the food are top notch. But most important the owners (son and father) are great hosts. They make you feel so comfortable and as an out of town visiter i feel like i am in my home town. A great selection of wines that are well knowen by the waiters. The overall experience is truly the way dining out should be. Look forward to my next visit. Pros: great wine selection more

World Class Cuisine 1/23/2009

Having grown up in a little town on the east coast with close proximity to the world class restaurants of New York and Philadelphia, I am overjoyed over the fact that this jewel of a restaurant is in my Sherman Oaks neighborhood. There is an Italian word that perfectly describes the experience of dining at Il Tiramisu .... ""Abbondanza!"" It means abundance. Every aspect here is a treasure to appreciate and enjoy ... from the warm, intimate, inviting atmosphere to the impeccable service and award winning cuisine.\r On my last outing, I enjoyed the 'special' salad of red beets and cherries with fontina cheese. The artichoke cakes, fresh ricotta cheese, with sweet red bell pepper puree are always a favorite, as is the Crespelle di Zucca (pasta rolls filled with butternut squash, ricotta cheese, with a sage cream sauce). This dish melts in your mouth. All of the pasta is home made and is a must try for first time diners. \r Owner Peter Kastelan is attentive, congenial and always available to lend his expertise on the excellent wine list. I highly recommend Il Tiramisu on Ventura and Woodman. You can be guaranteed to be greeted with smiles, open arms and world class cuisine. Pros: Thumbs up! Cons: Are you kidding??? more

The personal touch of Italian in Sherman Oaks: I love it! 1/21/2009

So you know, I don't write many reviews. But I can't resist sharing what I believe is a gem in Sherman Oaks. When I first went I was blown away by Il Tiramisu. Service ? A++. Atmosphere ? charming, personal, romantic, and warm. The owners greet you at the door and during our first visit they recommended a great bottle of wine to go with our meal. I had the phenomenal osso bucco. Falls off the bone, unbelievable! My wife and I have returned many times since our first visit last Summer. At this place the owner and his Father have an uncanny way of making everyone feel as though they are the most important guest. Literally. The waiters are highly attentive but we barely notice it at the same time. I almost never have to pick up my bottle of wine to refill my glass. And the wine selection is excellent, BTW. If you live in the Valley or find yourselves in Sherman Oaks, I highly recommend stopping into Il Tiramisu on Ventura and Woodman. I guarantee you?ll have a phenomenal experience. Plus, if you like Italian and the personal touch that seems to be missing these days, you should definitely try Il Tiramisu. Trust me, you?ll go back!! Pros: Personal touch, food, wine options, great atmosphere Cons: None. C'mon. more

Wonderful food and service! 12/31/2008

Having dinner at IL Tiramisu during the holidays is always a special time. The decorations are festive, the atmosphere pleasant, and the staff in good spirits. But this is always the case, and not just during the Christmas/New Years crush. My family and I have eaten at this restaurant many times and always come back for the great Italian food, fair prices, and amazing staff! The other night, I wasn't sure what to order, but went with one of the specials the waiter recommended (Barramundi fish with wine reduction sauce). The fish was plenty large and quite filling. It came with zucchini that had seasoned breading upon it and roasted potatoes. I also went with the soup of the night, Minnestroni, and ended with their famous Tiramisu cake placed inside a chocolate cup. My girlfriend had the Penne Toscana (pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, brocolli, and bits of chicken), and had a house salad. She wants to come again to try another pasta dish as she loved her meal! The restaurant was plenty busy, but and the owner visited our table and others throughout the night, and the wait staff was very attentive and made for a wonderful dining experience. My girlfriend and I look forward to eating here again! Pros: Pricing is very reasonable! Cons: none that I know of ! more

Overcharged me when I got takeout 12/29/2008

I used to have my birthday party here. I had no problems until the manager overcharged me. I had brought up the issue. He told me I looked at the older menus. Is that my fault he still had them there? He got embarrassed & gave me the rest of change back. I said to myself that I would never come back here ever again. Coincidentally, my family & me went back for dinner. They told him that I never wanted to come back here. He understood why so he made up for it by giving one of my family friend member dessert on the house. This was not given to me but I did not care for it. Pros: Service, Table Setting Cons: Gready manager, small portions, expensive, not much parking more
