Idaho Athletic Club

I have been a member of this set of gyms (when it was originally Cheryl's Body Shaping) for more than 30 years. It has degraded over the years, in terms of maintenance. While it still has wonderful classes (mostly because of the fine instructors), it doesn't pay the instructors squat, doesn't even offer them workout music or batteries for their headsets. Every time we ask about batteries, they are "on order," so the instructor either isn't heard or has to lose her voice to be heard. Today, we tried to use small exercise balls, and more than half of them were totally deflated. I've had the bathroom without toilet paper; the hand sanitizers without liquid in them (several at one time), often no Kleenex within a mile, and nobody seems to be responsible. I wish this gym cared more. They cancel classes without prior notice and make the instructors find their own replacements, which is why sometimes the classes are not manned. more

To say their business practice is horrible is putting it lightly. This company stinks. Their gym is always messy, machines are always dirty and the staff is HORRIBLE. They make odd faces at overweight individuals trying to lose weight and even mock them behind their back. The staff is also very inattentive and has absolutely no knowledge to answer questions. All they seem to care about is selling you personal training sessions (which are a joke). When we finally decided to leave the gym for another (which is significantly better); we had a ton of pushback; as well as 2 different individuals telling us 2 different documentation requirements and costs to cancel our membership. I would highly NOT recommend this gym (or any of their counterparts); go somewhere else unless you enjoy dirty old machines and staff that is absolutely no help with horrible business practices. more

Idaho Athletic Club is Dirty, Unprofessional in every aspect, equipment is old and outdated if it works at all. Their reputation has gone from bad to worse over the years. Employees have nothing good to say about the club as well as members. Don't waste your time on their Trainers, THEY ARE A JOKE AND A RIPOFF. more

Beware! Please do not sign anything with this company! They will only act nice long enough to get you to sign their contracts. Take your business elsewhere! They will not fully explain all of their policies and fees for cancellation with you. We had a sudden move due to my job and went in to cancel our account with them. We were told that there cancellation fee is $150 per account. However, they signed myself and my wife up under separate contracts and therefore wanted the cancellation fee from each of us individually. We either had to pay the 2 cancellation fees or keep paying our monthly dues until our contracts were up. They refused to even consider letting us pay one fee even though most families are signed up on one contract and therefore pay only one fee. When we called corporate, they were total jack-asses! This company only cares about how many people they can get to sign contracts and nothing else! Beware! more

Idaho Athletic Club in Nampa is really great; during the week it is open 24hours! Zoomba and aqua zoomba are really fun, and seem to be a huge hit with everyone judging by the class sizes. The staff is really helpful, and make everyone feel comfortable. more

I have a membership with the Idaho Athletic Club and LOVE IT!! I go to the location on Fairview Road in Meridian; however, there are many locations to choose from. The gym has something for everyone. It has racquetball courts, exercise classes, cardio equipment, Nautilus machines, Free-weight machines, and for those hard bodies...dumbbells and free-weights (not machines.) I believe they all have swimming pools as well. The location on Fairview also has a beauty salon and a physical therapy place. There is also daycare and personal trainers available for additional fees. The employees are friendly as are the people who workout there. I notice lots of friendly conversations between the patrons. It resembles a close family or groups of friends. The monthly fee is not stellar, but it also isn't the most expensive in town. If you are looking for a great place to workout, this is a good spot for you! more

The Meridian location of Idaho Athletic club has improved a lot in the last few years. They have upgraded a lot of their equipment including the purchase of many more elliptical machines and new weights. The club offers racquetball, aerobic and spinning classes, a swimming pool and day care. It is a good place to work out. One nice improvement would be if they let you work out at their other locations from time to time. Currently you have to pay additional money to visit other clubs they own. more
