Houston Admiral Air Conditioning and Heating

They were excellent. They came in and diagnosed the problem and determined that we needed a new furnace. We elected to have them install a new furnace and all new ductwork. The only problem was that, unbeknownst to us, they broke the access ladder to the attic. They did not inform us that the ladder had broken, so when their other rep came back the next day to tidy up, he fell off the ladder. It turns out, one of the legs on the ladder had broken and they tried to repair it. I have yet to hear back from them about whether or not they are going to repair or replace the access ladder. Other than that, everything is fine. The quality of their work is very high and they were all very courteous, friendly, and professional. I would highly recommend them. Harold Clark more

Well it seems the owner's son, Shawn Conley wants to keep this game going. He states on another complaint board that they have a stable phone room and very little turnover. \r Ummm, they have more turnover than pancakes at IHOP. He also states they have people who have been with them a long time. Ummm, yes, two malicious and vindictive, controlling snitches in the phone room. These women run off anybody who is good looking and competent and might take their 'job'.\r The phone room is all about rumors, gossip and backstabbing, with the full participation of the so-called management.\r You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you keep to yourself and are business like, they talk behind your back and start crap. If you become one of the clique and smoke and gossip with them, you may last there a bit longer. Eventually the snakes turn and strike, though. \r I'd like to have a ten dollar bill for everyone that's been hired and fired since the onset of 2010. I could probably live for a year on that.\r Bumped into an Admiral phone room refugee recently. She managed to be there a few months because she kissed up to the two controllers. But eventually she said the wrong thing and the owner's wife came from corporate to scream at her. Nice. Not professional, not even reasonable people run this outfit. The word sociopathic comes to mind. I would not recommend working or them or letting them near your A/C. more

They cold called my 87 year old grandma and offered a free inspection. I was at work/school at the time. We had her air condition serviced 1 month ago from another company, no need for a new unit at this time. They did their scam routine, told her the unit needed to be upgraded, when it was working just fine. She has dementia and I feel they really took advantage of her and she was the perfect victim in their scamming eyes. They charged her $5,100 for a $2,500 unit. I came home after the unit was installed and told them to get off her property. The check has been cancelled and we're filing suit against them after we get an estimate from a reputable company more

They came out and did a checkup that was reasonable, but when I called hem back to repair a unit i was 4-5 times the price of a competitor. I don't trust them and will not do business with them again!! more

I responded to a cold call and had Admiral come out to inspect my AC and heating systems. I expected them to sell me some services... it is the time of year I like to have maintanance done and it was easy to set up the appointment. \r However, they quoted me about $1,000 for maintanance and another $500 for a hard start kit. I told them at those prices I would do better to forgo maintanace and just plan to replace the AC earlier. My systems have had regular maintanance since they were installed and I have never had a bill approaching $1,000. I also told them that I would be checking into thier quote and would be writing a bad review if they were overstating the case or if thier costs were out of line. So here I am!!\r The lead tech, who was friendly capable seeming guy, gave me the line about how a guy working out of his truck could do it cheaper... yes, all those 5 star reviews calling customers like me ""nimrods"" were echoing the very words of the lead tech who visited my home. (Yes, they are nice when they think they have a chance at $1,550 for a Saturday morning but otherwise potential customers apparently are ""knot heads"") \r So I checked on their quote and guess what -- there are reputable companies (that you can find on citysearch) that will do the same work for significantly less and they were also upfront about what was truly a job to be done ""ASAP"" and on alternatives methodologies. The Admiral guys really overstated (lied) to me in an effort to make a quick sale and it pisses me off because I would have been an easy sale if they had been more honest with their assessment and with thier pricing. \r For example, they told me I needed to have a hard start kit installed and that thier fair price for it was about $500. Well I knew and have confirmed that these kits only costs about $40 so why would Admiral be asking me to pay them so much to for install -- you don't even have to be in the hot attic for this one?? A licenced reputable electricial would install at a fraction of the cost. Note, my electrician basically told me Admiral was ""blowing smoke"" about the need for a kit on a residential AC unit unless there was another problem (one that I don't have). I called another company and they said they would be out by 11:00 p.m. After 11:00p.m. they still didn't show up. I called Admiral and they were there within 30 min. My A/C was cooling again within the hour.John Conley was the tech who came to my house @ 12:00 a.m. the man was professional and his fee was reasonable. How many company's do you know that will give you great service and reasonable pricing in the middle of the night. So all you knot heads, hotheads that complaint about a company because you didn't get the free pricing you wanted go take a jump in the lake maybe that will cool you off. Late last summer, purchased a 5 ton ac evaporator coil; they installed 4 ton unit. Told us we could ""step down"" 5 ton evaporator coil to 4 ton condenser - cannot with our condenser; used scare tactics - embarassed that we were so taken in. They didn't pull a permit until 6 months post installation (+/-); wouldn't return calls; warranty makes no sense - again, our embarassement that we didn't read closely enough.\r Price is way out of line with what a reputable company would charge. I received a cold call for AC check the day after I had replaced the Thermostat and AC would not turn on. Admiral came out. I told the tech what I did and 1st thing he said was that I probably fried the circuit board. He went into attic and came down saying. ""Yup, circuit board is fried, and since it's a Carrier we'll have to order one and it's expensive. $899 plus our $99 service call. I was shocked of course. He kept up the hard sell which felt wrong. Asked him how he knew it was fried and he said he could see it. I refused the service, then he told me I needed 4 lbs of freon at $52/lb. So I paid for service call and freon. When they left I went into attic to look at circuit board. Noticed ""FUSE"" was missing. Replaced 3 amp fuse and AC kicked right on, no problems. So they tried to STEAL $899 from me for a 10 cent fuse. AND THEY STOLE THE FUSE. LIARS AND THIEVES. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Pros: I didn't fall for their lies. Redaing these reviews makes me laugh, I dont' know this co., but I AM in the HVAC business and all I can say to those of you that are giving bad reviews is that cold calling is used THROUGHOUT the industry. If you don't want them in your house DONT ASK, also if you have a problem with what they are telling you, GET A SECOND OPINION, last if you are in doubt WHY WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY?? also, WHAT DO YOU THINK ONE COMPANY WILL SAY ABOUT ANOTHER, you'd be hard pressed to find a company that does not have a disgruntled customer or a complaint with the Better BB or with the Lic. Accepted a cold call offer for winterizing service and said ok to $69.95. Out of the house when they came. They told husband that there was big leak on both furnaces and brought him to the attic to smell it and then told him it would cost $1650 to fix both furnaces. With three kids in the house and the overwhelming gas smell he said ""yes"" on the spot b/c he was scared for the children's safety. The work was done quickly and they wanted payment in check only - no credit cards. I came hm and questioned the whole thing, was told the service man is a policeman so he is honest and that they couldn't take off the parts b/c they are now ""used"" parts. When I checked online a gas valve is half of what they charged for their ""special order"" part that happened to be on the truck and b/c it's special order it is nonrefundable. Be forewarned - this was supposed to only be a ""checkup/winterizing"" and the gas leak could have easily been faked. There was no gas leak or smell at all the evening before. It is also fishy that both valves happened to be leaking and needing to be replaced at the same time and it all occurred on the day they came to check on the furnace. They were available to come on Wed so would there have not been a leak a few days earlier? Ha. When I called other reputable AC/Heating the first three I called all told me they had heard about ""Admiral"" and there is a fat file against them at the Better bus bureau and to also check with TX licensing. The only positive reviews on this company were written by the family of the man who owns the company. John Conley owns the company (check the B B B report) and has a son named Shawn and KayConley is his wife. Please Please Please before doing business with this company, check the B B B and other reviews on this company. When 90% of people say the company is a rip-off and then you have one or two glowing reports, something's up. This company is as shady as they come. more

Why are you people bashing a good company? Why don't you go talk to them? Everyone time we have had service done by them they have been excellent and very polite and on time.They did excellent work and the unit stayed fixed.I highly recommend them!!!! I recently used admiral services and i had a great experience with the company. They were very professional and straight forward . I had them replace my outside condenser and my coil. I had a 10 seer rated unit before. Admiral replaced it with a admiral brand 14 seer with a lifetime warranty. Overall i very satisfied with the work they preformed for me. I will gladly use them in the future. Pros: On time, fast, and great work more

These guys are a piece of work. They go under the name KJC Ventures and call my home twice a day. they either hang up or never leave a message. I have asked the to stop calling and they do not listen. File a complaint with the FTC to stop them. They call at all hours and never answer when you call back. The last comment said that john conley sold the company in san antonio in 05 that is a false statement . He still ownwed the business until it closed. The reason i know that is cause i worked their at the time in the houston office . He went down to san antonio for a week the week they closed the office. He fired everyone. Some people have been taken advantage of with warrinties because this man has no problem with taking money from you but will not give the service that is needed. These people are telemarketing under the name of KJC Ventures, they call 2 to 3 times daily - 5 to 6 days a week. I would never do business with a company that does not respect the National Do Not Call list. I have registered a complaint with the Texas Attorney General and am keeping record of dates and times of every call for my suit. I recommend everyone being phone harassed by these people do the same. more

The company in houston didn't own the company in San Antonio, They sold it in sept 05, so they couldn't be responible for it closing in 2007, get your facts straight before engaging your mouth, it sounds like you inserted foot in mouth. more
