I had some back tightness, and Dr. Seth Hosmer has shown me both foam roller techniques as well as stretches to help. He also diagnosed that I need custom insoles, which he will be making for me at a later date. Until I met with Dr. Hosmer, I was only somewhat aware that my back needed work, and I was unaware of the extent of my foot issues.\r \r In the interim, I have followed Seth's suggestion to switch to some insoles with more support, and that has alleviated my foot discomfort. Expert fitter Joe Holcomb joined Seth to adjust my position and to immediately improve my pedal stroke.\r \r Seth works with a variety of people – not just cyclists. But his intimate understanding of the physiological demands of the sport helps Seth to spot problems that others might overlook, and his work has already helped me to improve as an athlete. more

Hosmer is much more than Chiropractic. He has massage therapy in-house - which I was so pleasantly surprised to find is covered by my insurance as physical therapy. His massage therapists use a full complement of techniques to really get at the problem - whether it's lower back muscle pain or tendon issues (wrist and sacrum for me), they know just how to relieve the pain and speed recovery. Pin and stretch, deep tissue and myofascial release are a few of the many techniques his expert techs employ. \r \r And I appreciate the advice Dr. Hosmer and his massage therapists give me about stretches I can do at home, many of which are backed up by his authoritative and well-produced videos on You-tube. He actually writes a newsletter that's useful, not a thinly veiled marketing tool. more

I went to Dr. DeVasto at Hosmer for a Sciatica Nerve issue. He worked out my pain within three visits in a very professional and educational manner. \r \r I really appreciated that he didn't suggest coming back repeatedly, just to make more money for his practice. He seemed to really care about getting me back out on the soccer field and in my gym. \r \r Definitely a Chiropractor I would recommend and continue as a patient. more

\r I have been going to Hosmer Chiropractic Health for years now. I initially started seeing Dr. Hosmer for chronic lower back pain. I had never been to a chiropractor before, but the spasms and general pain had gotten in the way of my daily life. I was having a tough time holding my kids, riding my bike, and even sleeping. It was time for me to take control of the pain - and I am glad I went to Dr. Hosmer.\r \r From the moment you walk into the office you are treated very well. The environment is relaxing and is very comfortable. The folks behind the desk are very polite and friendly. I have never been to an appointment that did not start on time.\r \r Dr. Hosmer does great work. He listens to your symptoms then helps alleviate your short term pain. During the session - he tells you exactly what he is doing and is more than happy to show you a model of a spine or hip joint, etc, to further illustrate. Once done - he often leads you through stretches/techniques to work on at home. This way you are part of the long term management of the pain. \r \r I wish I had not waited so long to go in. My life is definitely better because of Hosmer Chiropractic Health. \r \r \r more

I am very physical active, both at work and in sports and exercise. Over the past 18 months, I started getting a tingling sensation in the pinky finger of my right hand, and through the months, lack of sensation and strength was growing through my pinky finger and adjacent middle finger. My neck was also starting to hurt a lot over the course of the year. As both ailments continued to progress, I became extremely concerned. \r \r I reached out to friends for advice on medical help which led me to Dr Seth Hosmer.\r \r I was immediately impressed by the professionalism of his office staff. Furthermore, even though I had sought medical attention for other sports injuries in the past, I realized that Dr Seth was different. During examination, at times he seemed to spot what areas where I felt the most tension and pain without me specifically telling him. He seemed to have a grasp on what and where medical attention was needed. Through his treatments over the course of several weeks, sensation and feeling started coming back in my right hand. Also, my neck pain generally abated after years of tension. \r \r Also, since 2007 I have suffered from acute form of tinnitus which I have been told medically there is nothing that can be done. Acceptance was part of the therapy and over the years, I began to accept this affliction. However recently, after several weeks with Dr Seth Hosmer , I noticed one night that the constant ringing of my tinnitus was gone. This quiet time lasted for only 3 hours, but it has given me hope. I am not saying that chiropractic treatment can cure tinnitus, but I do believe there can be side benefits from treatment. And honestly, for the first time in years, many of my afflictions that I just dealt with over the years are just starting to go away.\r \r Dr Hosmer is also comprehensive in his treatment: I do stretches and other physical exercises that he recommends. Also, his technique is more dynamic in comparison to other chiropractors. He doesn’t just adjust your spine. He asks detailed intelligent questions regarding your ailments, and many aspects of his treatment are in the form of mild and more advanced stretching. He also has in-house physical message therapist, which get involved with trigger point therapy, which has helped a lot.\r \r The bottom line is: I am pleased with the results, and Dr Hosmer has delivered them.\r \r If you are looking for a good chiropractor: I suggest saving your time and money endlessly searching, because through my experience, Dr Seth Hosmer is one of the best that Portland has to offer.\r \r \r more

I have been to Hosmer Chiropractic twice now for some SI joint and hip issues that have been ongoing for a about a year. My PCP had recommended that I start getting regular deep tissue work to keep the issues at bay. I went to Hosmer Chiropractic based on a recommendation from someone I used to work with. During both visits I was seen by Dr. DeVasto who was very attentive to the issues I was having and was able to do some adjustments to allow me to keep running pain free. The second visit I also had some deep tissue work done. I am very impressed with the staff there and look forward to returning in the future for massage as well as for any injuries I may experience. more

I was having some hip and back issues that were getting worse and after quite a bit of research I decided to go with Hosmer Chiropractic as my very first time at a chiropractic office. I didn't know what to expect but as soon as I entered their office my tension disappeared by the inviting environment and friendly staff members. Dr. Phill Devasto was great at asking questions and finding out about my issues. After the adjustments he made on me, he also showed me some wonderful exercises I can do at home specific to my issues. Overall I had a great experience and would highly recommend you go with them. \r \r Also, after my first visit I started receiving video tips from them in my email box, showing specific exercises and tips on how I can work toward being pain free at home on my own as well. I haven't seen this anywhere else. more

I started seeing Dr. Hosmer when I could no longer tolerate the pain in my neck and upper back from daily hours at the computer, biking and lugging around kids. What I liked about Dr. Hosmer was that he identified the problem areas and was able to treat them, he also gave me exercised to do at home to stretch and strengthen my neck. I liked that I have option that I can do at home on my own. I always follow up my appointments with a massage, Dr. Hosmer coordinates with the massage therapist to ensure they are targeting the right areas, this always feels great.\r \r I would highly recommend Hosmer Chiropractic Health.\r more

I have been seeing Dr. Phill Devasto and Kim for massage at Hosmer for almost a year now. They both are excellent at what they do, and have made a real difference in reducing my lower back and neck pain. I would highly recommend this clinic and both Dr. Devasto and Kim. Another bonus is that they have great appointment availability. more

Seth initially treated me for some alignment issues I was experiencing after a crash in a race. He sped me along the road to recovery and getting back to racing, but along the way he also diagnosed a slight leg-length discrepancy.\r \r After helping me to get a reasonable x-ray, Seth confirmed that the difference was in the length of the bones, and he shimmed one of my shoes to compensate. I'm now more comfortable and a little more efficient on the bike - and every bit helps.\r \r Seth's background as an athlete and a cyclist means that he can not only treat problems, but he can also find and correct the underlying issues coming from the sport.\r \r I do a reasonably good job of stretching, regularly using a foam roller and doing some off-bike conditioning - and Seth has recommended some of those poses and routines - but every month or two my body tightness has accumulated beyond a point that I can correct myself, and it's time for treatment. Seth will expertly make any chiropractic adjustments I may need, and I've also worked with three of the staff massage therapists to bring muscular relief. While each therapist has a somewhat different approach, they're all excellent and attentive - I always emerge with better-functioning hip flexors and a relatively loose lower back. more

Dr. Hosmer and his staff are fantastic. I have visited the clinic for primarily muscular imbalance issues and the LMT staff have outdone themselves in quality of care, service, and attention to my needs. They really listen to each client and provide the best sports massage that I have ever received. Over the course of several visits, with three different LMTs (all excellent) we were able to aggressively treat the root cause of some long-term discomfort. I recommend Hosmer Chiropractice Health to anyone. more

I was referred to Hossmer Chiropractic from a trusted friend and am skeptical of chiropractors from previous experience. However, I will tell you that within the last 16 years that I’ve been experiencing back pain, I have never once encountered any professional that has been able to read my body by touch the way that Dr. Seth Hossmer did on my initial visit. I have had previous chiropractic care, trigger point massage therapy, acupuncture, x-rays, physical therapy and have taken long bouts of anti-inflammatory medications from a vertebral compression fracture years ago.\r I’ve struggled to find someone who can see the whole picture of the body and can understand an active lifestyle that I like to live. It is rare to find someone who can take your information and process it, then respond in a way appropriate to your body. Anyone who is ready to put the effort that it takes with the exercises necessary to change your current body’s structure, and have suffered with pain that others have been unable to remedy, will love their approach. I am new to Active Release Therapy, that Dr. Hossmer performed on me, and I am an immediate fan. Basic physical therapy has always appealed to me, because of the athletic component, but this style is something that makes 100% sense. Tight, inflamed muscles need not only be released, but stretched, and re-taught on how to behave.\r The office was impressive, their athletic approach like no other, and the friendliness of the staff is unmatched. I’ll definitely return. \r more
