Very bad customer service. Sales rep was very helpful, but that's about it. Once you get to the upper management level, just get up a leave. I've bought and leased many cars before, this experience was the worst. \r If you do end up getting a car from them, make sure you calculate and check all the numbers during financing. They add thing that were not mentioned during the deal.\r Don't waste your time; just go to another Honda dealership\r more

Poor Customer Service 7/14/2011

I was supposed to see a car on Tuesday and was asked to postpone till Thursday because of ""car repairs"" that had to be made. I made it very clear that i had a long drive to come see the car so I didn't want an appointment unless the car would be available. I was promised a 6:45pm appointment for Thursday to see the vehicle. We had constant correspondence and I was very impressed until I arrived at my appointment to find the car had sold that morning and no one bothered to call me. I made an 18 mile drive in traffic only to find out the car wasn't there. I guess they figured I'd come in and settle for something else. In my opinion this is horrible customer service, and even though I was ready to make a purchase at Honda, I left and went to a dealership down the street. I won't give my business to people who don't care. more

FRAUDULENT INSPECTIONS! 6/23/2011

LADIES BEWARE FRAUDULENT INSPECTIONS WHEN GOING TO THESE GUYS! My wife just came back from one where they said the brake fluid is dangerously low...IT WAS ALMOST TOPPED OFF! They evaluated the rear brakes had only 1.8 millimeters of pad left and wanted $160 to replace them. Upon visual expection THE PADS HAD AT LEAST FOUR TIMES THAT! \r \r DO NOT GO THERE! THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR FEAR! more

Great Deal 1/13/2011

Upon arrival at the location, I asked for Liana and she guided us throught the entire sale. When it was about the numbers, Leigh Balcher was very nice and laid it out clearly for us and we purchased the car, i.e. starting all the paperwork, car in detailing etc. We feel we got a great deal for a great car! This all took about 2+ hours, from test driving it, to paperwork, financing, warranty etc. more

I purchased a vehicle from this dealer in 2004 and have had it serviced here ever since. I also service a second honda vehicle here. Ron Gee is who I work with re: the vehicle's service and I couldn't be happier. A real good guy! I believe he tells you the truth when it comes to your vehicle and I believe they actually do the job 100%. Yeah, we all hate to spend the bucks on our cars, however, sometimes we just have no choice. I say for me, these guys have been great, perhaps for you too... more

I seem to find myself rating businesses on Yelp only when I have had an exceptional experience... Nevertheless, Honda of Santa Monica truly delivered today - I found myself surprised at the ease of our transaction. I am a Honda girl, having purchased three Hondas of five cars within the last 10 years. So, my mother in law wanted some help when she decided to purchase a 2010 Honda Insight. I spent several hours researching her vehicle, gathering price quotes, checking availability based on color, looking at true market value information and the list goes on and on. I feel like I owe my first-born to several of the sales people I dealt with. Only that would actually be a form of punishment, ha ha. I digress. We arrived, we talked numbers (which stayed the same as the original ones quoted), we declined extra options, we signed paperwork, and we left about 2 1/2 hours later. Not bad for a car-buying experience. A little pressure to buy into extra options, warranties, etc etc but the pressure was relatively easily deflected. We dealt with Michael (sales person) and Tyron (internet sales manager) and also Glen (sales manager). I was impressed when Glen came up and introduced himself and mentioned my track record as a Honda customer in their service department - he thanked me for my business/loyalty. Unheard of. Anyway, I am now not only a Honda of Santa Monica service fan (I have almost exclusively dealt with Ron, who I think is great, despite previous reviews) but I am now also a fan of their sales team as well. Kudos to Honda of Santa Monica! :) more

No Pressure 1/3/2011

It makes complete sense that most car dealerships would get pretty awful reviews. Car buying is a stressful and tense activity that only happens once every few years. I of all people should know this because I recently had to shop for a new car for the first time in my life and I was petrified. It was giving me panic attacks to even think about the pressure I'd be receiving from salespeople and all the money I'd drop that I didn't want to. That's why I was so surprised when we were helped by Bobby this weekend at Honda of SM. He was super laid-back from the start and it doesn't seem like an act. He was confident in his products and therefore never felt like he had to strongarm me into anything before I was ready. He knew I was looking at other cars and he didn't say a disparaging thing about any of them. Instead, he focused on the undeniable positives of the car I was looking at there, like safety ratings and reviews. I was fooled into thinking all car salesmen were given a bad rap, but about four test drives later I experienced the quintessential pesky salesperson at another dealership. I called Bobby back and asked him a ton of questions over the phone and he answered all of them patiently and called me right back after he had to consult his manager about the price. He matched a quoted price from another dealership and arranged to have my car of choice in their dealership the next day and never once made me feel like I was being rushed or pressured. The next day I stopped in and my only complaint was that it ended up taking much longer than I thought it would because I kept having such entertaining conversations with Bobby and Monique in finance. Honestly, that's not even a complaint...it was just as much my fault as theirs...they were just too fun! Bobby and his colleagues were able to negotiate a low APR despite my short credit history and the price was actually a bit lower than what we had discussed the day before. While I did get offered the extended warranty, security system and GAP insurance, I never felt pressured to buy in. The car took a bit longer than I thought it would to actually get to the lot from the other dealership, but once I got there I was so happy it didn't matter at all. I drove off comfortable with my decision and haven't had any buyer's remorse at all! That may be the first time ever for me! Why can't all salespeople be like Bobby? Go Bobby! more
