We're new to Los Angeles, just moved here from Chicago. We love fine dining and our thinking is that it will be hard to beat great Chicago restaurants in LA. I've read all the reviews for this restaurant and had to try it. On the day of our reservation, we received a reminder of our 8 pm reservation. We arrived early and they had our table waiting for us. The restaurant was busy and since we've never been here before asked the server what he recommended? He suggested that we try the tasting menu, forgot the Japanese term. We tried it, a couple of the dishes were similar to what PEEDLER had, but we thought they were great. Everything was incredible, the scallop appetizer had a wonderful flavor, the salmon sashimi with the tofu sauce and fried ginger was very good, and the Kobe beef was so tender. The sushi assortment was a nice touch and they do a very special sushi ball roll. It's like a California roll, but in a ball. I usually don't eat rolls, but very interesting and something that we've never seen before. For dessert, they put together a platter of different desserts for us. My wife doesn't like really sweet things, but she loved everything on that platter. This is only the 3rd restaurant in Beverly Hills that we have tried and I'll say that we'll be back, can't say that for the other places. One thing that I do notice about LA people, they order off the menu vs. having the chef put a menu together.
Pros: Chef's menu, service, and dessert platter.
Cons: Not an extensive wine list
