Review content:
Wow, where to start... I guess with the parking situation. The valet had given up by the time we got there (as compared to the other reviewer) because there was no valet in sight. We parked a few blocks away at a garage and hoofed it back to the restaurant. We were seated a little after 9:00. We wanted to get drinks because we were a bit early, but there was surprisingly no bartender even though they had a large bar. We were seated in the very unromantic bar area and ordered the 6-course Valentine's dinner for $80 per person (which isn't too unreasonable). There were literally about 20-30 minutes between each course as we received our 6th course at right before midnight. One of the courses we were looking forward to ran out and the waiter started asked us for suggestions to replace it. We didn't have a menu, so we really didn't know what to say. So we just sort of looked at each other for a while until he went and asked the chef who whipped up another appetizer. The appetizer courses were decent, but the main courses were pretty awful. I ordered the seabass and my girlfriend got the short rib. Both of us couldn't didn't finish our main courses because they just had no taste whatsoever. The couple next to us had ordered the special as well and after sitting for 30 there for about a half hour after their second course they asked for the check. I wish I had taken their lead, but I was hoping things improved. They didn't. At midnight, right after we got our deserts and 3 hours into our dinner, the emergency fluorescent lighting came on and completely ruined any remaining romantic mood that was salvageable. The worst part about it was that the waiters just laughed it off and the lights stayed on.
The maitre'd did hand out $20 gift certificates because of the slowness and parking problems. I guess that's the price of ruining our evening. Now I have to find someone I despise to give it to, because we won't be going back.
Pros: I learn from my mistakes
Cons: Food, service, ambiance, parking
