Hoffman's Auto & Tire

We tried Hoffman's Auto & Tire because we wanted to deal with a knowledgeable automotive professional locally vs. a "kid working at a chain store". After having 2 tires put on by Hoffman's, being completely satisfied, trusting the knowledge & experience we decided to return 1 month later for the 2 remaining tires @ $ 283.00 & a "Complete Vehicle Detail" inside and out @ $180.00. We left the car for the day. While at home we received a phone call from Al Hoffman stating "he always likes to do a thorough inspection" and proceeded to explain his findings (this inspection wasn't completed on the 1st visit for the 2 tires??) He recommended the engine needed the "105K Service Package" @ $649.99. This includes, spark plugs, air & cabin filter replaced, 3 belts replaced, engine oil/filter replaced, flush/replace transmission and power steering fluids. Having felt comfortable and agreeing that we trusted Al's knowledge and experience we said "okay, go ahead and perform the "105K Service Package @ $649.99" in addition to the tires @ $ 283.00 & a "Complete Vehicle Detail" inside and out @ $180.00. After a few weeks of being curious, exploring the owners manual and consulting the dealership of the cars make we need to finish this review with the fact that our vehicle does indeed HAVE a transmission filter. The 90% plugged transmission filter was replaced today NOT by Hoffman's Auto & Tire. In today's economy, as hard as we all work for our money and make efforts to maintain vehicles is "Hoffman's Auto & Tire" the right shop for your next vehicle need? I have had many bumps with a used car i purchased from bodywork due to smashing a deer, to engine and tune up, as well as new tires. There could not be a nicer owner or harder working staff. Most of my inquiries where fixed same day. You receive very thorough walk through of what they did, as well as having the choice of viewing your car be fixed and walking around the shop. A+ quality. more

I was in a jam and needed my car repaired while I was at work. Hoffman's drove me to work and picked me up, and hnad my car fixed by 3:30pm after dropping it off at 8:30am. That included figuring out what was wrong with it in the first place! Great SERVICE! very prompt, they explained everything to me, everything that they were going to do to fix my car. They called me at work to let me know the details! Great Service! Very friendly and professional. I liked that the owner of the shop was working there too! I am definitely making this shop my car's doctor! I have already recommended this service to my friends! more

I've gone to Hoffmans Auto & Tire a few times and always had great service. Most recently, I got a flat when a nail tore up my tire. I took it in and my tire needed to be replaced. Well, I have special tires, and the tire needed to be ordered from Indianapolis. They ordered it right before the weekend and it got there on Monday! It was so fast. I like it at Hoffmans because they tell it like it is there. They provide personalized, old-fashioned service. It's a great shop! Nate Fell more

My girlfriend and I were en route to her folks in the heart of Wisconsin from Chicago. We planned on stopping at the Brat Stop for lunch, but her car starting having a coughing fit with the Check Engine light on just as we were getting close to 75th. We pulled off to the rest area to reassess the situation and found Hoffman Auto on yelp close by. Not only did these extremely nice people accept our walk-in emergency at mid day, but they had a shuttle van to drop us off at the Brat Stop while they took care of our car. The problem was diagnosed, a new Cam Sensor was ordered, delivered, installed, and we were back on the road in four hours. At the time we went there, Hoffman had only been open a year. The place was clean, the people were friendly and approachable, and the cost was affordable. We could not have had a better experience considering our circumstances. Thanks Hoffman. more

Hoffman's is a rare find when it comes to trustworthy, well priced auto service. I am done taking my car to the dealer! Hoffman's will have my business for as long as I own a vehicle. I have taken my VW Jetta to Hoffman's a few times now in the last couple months. My wife's Dodge Calibur as well. My first experience was a nail in my tire. They had me in and out, no problem. Next came a check engine light. I DID NOT want to take that to my dealer... would have been major $$$. Hoffman's found the bad valve and I had the car back in a couple days. The price was very reasonable and I used an on-line coupon to save even more. Wife printed up his coupon and got an oil change... piece of cake! Finally, my last trip was for brakes. Again, it was less than expected and the service coupon came in handy again. Hoffman's will earn your trust and keep it. It's comforting to know when Al says my tires need replacing, I can trust he's not just trying to sell me something. For as long as I own a vehicle, Hoffman's will service it! more

Took my car to hoffman's to have it inspected before going on a long road trip. I was able to get it in the shop in a timely manner. Al did a thorough inspection and came up with a few items that needed attention, some I was aware of and some that I wasn't. I never felt like i was being up-sold or pushed into something I didn't need. The work was done correctly and quickly, and they even washed my car! I also got a real good price on tires, competitive with anyone in town and believe me I shopped around. Overall an excellent experience! more

We took the car in to have a the check engine light checked out, they were very courteous and profesional. They addressed the problem at hand and called us before preceeding into any further charges. I took my car in for a routine oil change before a long trip to TN. He noticed that my tie rod was broken. If it would have broke on our trip it would have turned into a catastrophe. We only had one day to get it fixed and he was able to do it for us at a very fair price. He even tried to work with my warranty. It is great to know you can go to a shop and you are not going to get taken for more money or work you really do not need. Thanks Al! more

This was my first visit there. Al is extremly courteous and knowledgable. time frame was good and explained all things that needed repairs and ones that were starting to look bad. Felt very comfortable that he was an honest repair service. Good job !!! more

Hoffman's Auto Repair & Tire is about 16 miles from my house, which doesn't make it convenient, but it is worth the drive. I have an Isuzu Trooper from 1994, and I need to get it repaired. I hadn't had anybody in the area work on it. I went on the internet to search Isuzu auto repair, and the first one to come up was Al Hoffman. I had never heard of him. I called, talked to him, and then set up an appointment. He has now taken excellent care of my car on 4 occasions. Al is very pleasant, and every indication shows that he is a completely honest man. I have the sense that he has a high degree of integrity. I have never felt taken advantage of. He has a lot of experience as a mechanic and is very knowledgeable. Hoffman's Auto & Tire has pretty quick service. They are very accommodating to their customers. Al tries to get you in and out of the shop as fast as he can, and if he can't, he tires to accommodate you with a rental. I am pretty impressed with them. I have been using them for about 4 or 5 months. They have done some timing belts, brakes and tires. The car is running very well with no problems. I recommend them to anyone. He is very good and likes to help his customers as much as he can. more

I was having a problem with my 1996 Mustang Cobra, the car would die after 2-3 minutes of running. After trying to find the problem myself with parts that normally go wrong nothing changed. I brought my car in to Hoffmans Auto repair and after a couple of hours of diagnosis and testing, the problem was solved. They could have easily taken advantage of me and charged me for all kinds of parts and labor but they did not do that. As far as I am concerned, you do not run across many businesses that are as honest or fair as Hoffmans Auto. I will definitely be returning for any repairs that my vehicles require. more

Hoffman's Auto & Tire Service was fantastic. Al answered all my questions, which was very nice. I walked out of there knowing he took care of the problem. There was a weird sound in the car, and he solved it. He didn't think I was stupid when I explained it, because sometimes people act as if you make it up. It was my second time going there. I went there again because I was satisfied with my first experience. He satisfied all my questions. He listens and is not in a hurry to get you out the door. Al pays attention to my questions and concerns, which is nice of him. more
