We recommend Hiram Animal Hospital 3/25/2011

My husband and I have used the services of Hiram Animal Hospital since 1997. We have several cats and a yellow lab. All of our animals have been vetted by Dr. Carpenter, Dr. Meeker, or Dr. Johnson. These are caring, concerned, and compassionate veterinarians. On several occasions we've boarded our lab, knowing that she was in good hands. We've only had one bad experience at this clinic and that was with a staffer, who seemed annoyed that she had to take our dog back for boarding. My husband addressed this issue with Dr. Carpenter and we feel confident that he followed up with his staff. This is a very good animal clinic and we will continue to use the services: excellent veterinarians, friendly staff (with the one exception), wonderful technicians. I gave them a 4 out of 5 only because of the one bad experience (it should never have happened). We recommend Hiram Animal Hospital. more

Great Vets! 9/26/2010

Must admit that I've vet-hopped a little through the years just trying to find the right person & was waaayyy to concerned with cleanliness/smell & general appearance of the facility. After multiple misinformed & questionable visits at alternate (& MUCH more pricey locations) I returned to Hiram permanently where each & every time I visit, the vets are honest, have excellent communication skills, & have on two separate occasions solved reoccurring issues I've had with my dachshunds that noone else could explain. I must say the office staff ...are somewhat rude & snooty, but who cares if you get good vet care!!! more

Finding a Caring Vet 6/4/2010

Our daschund had to have back surgery Nov.2009. He will never use his back legs again. However, he is a happy dog with wheels, a stroller and 2 loving parents:) We left our other vet to find a vet who would love our dogs and care for them like they were their own. I believe we have found that in Dr. David Carpenter. He has spent time to diagnose and explain what is happening to Reuben at every visit. My husband and I really like him. Reuben likes him too!! The staff is nice even though they are usually very busy! more

God's angels for animals!!!! 5/14/2010

FANTASTIC DOESN'T BEGIN TO COVER IT!!!\r I have used this office for the last three years. My dog got into some grease lighting (we think)one night after we cooked out on the grill. At 3am he was getting extremely lethargic and vomiting. We rushed him to the ER vet. By the time we got there he was vomiting blood. They said that it was poisoning but not sure what kind. They wanted $500 just to treat him and they said he could very well die. I just didn't have the $ so, they gave him something to coat his stomach and said just to pray he can make it until my vets office opens up. Well at 730am I was out the door to the vet.(no appt mind you). They took him right back, put me in my own room and within 15 min. Dr. Johnson was telling me the treatment plans. I told him I couldn't pay very much and began to cry. He took my hand and told me that his #1 priority was to get my baby better and we could work out a payment plan. He kept my dog that whole day and whatever he did worked. more

Very professional 1/9/2010

The staff at Hiram Animal Hospital are a dedicated group of people. Brittany D. should look at them in the same compassionate light that they look at all their patients. This staff, like any other, can have their moments, but their dedication to the pets is unquestionable as is their professionalism. You said nothing of the doctors and the care and attention you and your pet received from them, which is really the point of going to a vet hospital in the first place. If you had a problem, then you should talk to the owner, Dr. Carpenter. Give me a knowledgable and caring staff over some hack who doesn't care about the pets but rather the money in your pocket..... more

Rude Unprofessional Staff Members 1/6/2010

A few of the vet techs obviously care about the animals but treat the owners with no respect. I was talked down to as if I were an idiot when it came to my cat. Yet, I did not want to be rude so I just smiled and said thank you. I left very disappointed in how unprofessional some of the staff members were at Hiram Animal Hospital. more

God Bless you and your great Staff 8/30/2009

I find it very sad that PAM F. must continue to post a negative posting after all these years, no one is perfect and maybe she should stop and think how she would feel if people reminded her every day of the mistake's that she made in her life, over and over again. Find God in your life!!!! the Bible says to forgive......in order to receive blessing in your life.\r \r I moved here over 8 years ago and have taken my 3 dogs to Doc. Carpenter and highly recommend him he is a Godly man and I thank God for putting him here for us animal lovers.God Bless to the great staff & Doctors in your office more

Wouldn't use Hiram Animal hospital 8/18/2009

I have a Choc lab that was 2 yrs old, that I took to Dr. Carpenter shortly after he had taken over, the dog was diagnoised with heart worms, he said treatment was extension, and he wouldn't live past 2 yrs if we didn't treat him. I found this very hard to swallow. I took him to another vet in dallas and he found no traces of heart worms. My dog is now 13 yrs old and going strong!! Imagine that... more

Good, Caring Animal Hosptial 12/5/2008

We took our new-found puppy to them to be checked out and then to be treated for Parvo. They have been awesome. Teagan is all better now and they were very, very nice and kept us informed about what was going on with his illness. Later, when he developed cysts, they did the surgery to remove them, kept us in the loop and then told us they were not a problem. Made us and Teagan feel so much better. They have a good and caring staff. If you live close to them, it would be a good choice. more

What vet care should be! 11/20/2007

We have a furry family of 6 including 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 rabbits. We are fortunate to live so close to Hiram Animal Hospital, but we'd drive hours for our pets to see them if we didn't. Dr. Carpenter takes as much time as is necessary with ALL HIS PATIENTS. If you have to wait, know that it is for a good reason and he will be equally thorough with your pet. Dr. Meeker will get on the ground to welcome your pet and will likely remember their name without a chart. She has also taken expert care of our rabbits, which are considered exotics. And guess what folks? Their affordable, too! These skilled physicians exhibit what vet care should be with EVERY patient.\r Our group will never go anywhere else. more

Just Like Family! 4/17/2007

Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Meeker are the most polite and caring Vets I have ever been to. I have a family of 4 dogs and a bird. We have been using them for 8 years now. I finally found a place that felt warm, friendly and new what they are doing. Every time I have had to take my dogs in for either a annual visit or illness they have diagnosed them correctly and gave me the all the info and follow up needed. They even call to follow up every time one of my dogs came in with a aliment. They have enlarged their clinic to accomodate all the happy animals and owners!! Keep up the great work! more

Very caring staff 11/14/2005

I have been a patron of this hospital for over 11 years. In that time, I have seen lots of staff and doctor changes. In the last several years, the turnover has slowed down. My family and animals have a wonderful relationship with Dr Meeker, and I would recommend her with total confidence. She was marvelous and caring when we lost a pet a few years ago. She continues to provide excellent care for my other animals. The groomer here is also super - my dogs love her. They always leave looking great! more

Wouldn't go here again.... 4/15/2005

After sitting in the waiting room for about 15 minutes, I was put in a tiny room with my daugther and dog. We stood there for about 10 minutes until the vet came. I had just gotten my dog from the pound and she had terrible diarrhea. I had to request that they check her for worms. The doctor didn't even introduce himself to me. I have no idea what his name was. He told me nothing other than my puppy's weight and that she had worms. That was it. He sent me out the door with no idea when to come back, what to expect, how to feed her, nothing. Also, they were doing construction on the place. It was driving me nuts to hear ponding and sawing constantly. I can only imagine how those poor dogs that are away from home feel! PROS: Semi-Cheap CONS: Everything else more
