DO NOT USE THIS TAX PLACE!!! They throw in all kinds of fluff that cause red flags with the IRS and get you audited. I'm from Cartersville and know the inside scoop on what really happened to his business when it got raided by the IRS in 2009. Ever since then they have been under a microscope and about 30-40% of their customers get audited. They cheat and lie to your face and then when the IRS comes after you Heath's is no where to be found. Please do yourself a favor and do not use their business. more

I didn't realize how crooked this company is. My husband and I had been referred to see Larry at Heath's Income Tax by some of my husbands co-workers. We were told that he was extremely knowledgeable when it came to union members and what could or could not be claimed. So with little knowledge of the tax world and being one of my first tax filings what did what did we have to lose? A LOT apparently... What little did we know was that while he's flipping screens so fast and moving around quick he's plugging in deductions and numbers. Then it was a rushed sign here and expect your return on this date. Well all that flashing around from screen to screen and mumbo jumbo spiels that he gave was just a distraction and a way to take advantage of us when I didn't understand. I take my taxes to someone else and not file them myself because I don't understand!!!! I put trust in someone because I am paying them to file my taxes and that they will do the right thing and due it by the rules. I should have known he was screwed up in the head within the first five minutes of being there Larry told me that my toes looked very pretty that he'd love to suck on them if I'd let him.......I should have turned and walked away from the nasty old man right then. GUESS WHAT??? LESSON FREAKIN LEARNED ROYALY!!! more

They have ruined so many people's lives. It doesn't catch up with you until a few years down the road where you are having to pay interest in addition to the audit you will receive and trust me its coming. Larry Heath himself admits to others outside of his work for screwing up people and many people being audited. He isnt the only screwed up one. Alicia and Alan Hames are just as messed up. They are crooks. I think from after hearing all the people who are audited because they are liars we need to get a class action lawsuit going. They need to be stopped. Everyone giving them a good rating because they are getting a whole lot of money with them than anywhere else will be coming back and giving a bad rating. Trust me! In addition the police car is not just patrolling for nothing. They have received many death threats and I see why. They have ruined so many people lives. LAWSUIT!!! Something needs to be done. more

i was urged by several friends to have heath do my taxes.i always went to h&r block because [THEY STAND BEHIND YOUR TAX PREPERATATION NO MATTER WHO IN THEIR OFFICE DONE THEM]!!!!!!!! SO IN 2012 I GET AN ENVELOPE FROM THE IRS WANTING PAPERS TO VERIFY WHAT WAS ON MY TAX RETURNS.YES THEY WAS DONE BY ANDY BUT HE WORKED OUT OF HEATHS TAX SERVICE LOCATION.THERE AGAIN HEATH TAXES DONT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK.SO IF YOU WANT TO HAVE THEM DO YOUR TAXES HERES SOME ADVICE DONT EFILE BECAUSE YOUR RELEIVING VTHEM OF ANY LIABILITY AND DONT SIGN NOTHING THEN IF YOU GET AUDITED THEIR LIABLE FOR DAMAGES AS FOR ME I OWE $4100.00 DOLLARS AND AFTER DRIVING 45 MINUTES AND YES THEY RUSHED ME RIGHT BACK BECAUSE THEYT DIDNT WANT CUSTOMERS TO SEE SOMEONE SITTING THERE WITH IRS PAPERS.BAD FOR BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!THEN AFTER SITTING THERE FOR 20 MINUTES AND HEARING THE ANDY EXCUSE HE WORKED OUT OF THEIR OFFICE I DONT KNOW WHERE THEY GET THEIR MORALS FROM BUT IF HE WORKED FORE ME I WOULD AT LEAST TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THEY TOLD ME THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO ITS BETWEEN ME AND THE IRS. NOT TO MENTION THEY WAS SURE TO SWIPE MY RECEIPT WHERE I PAID THEM.NOW IM UNEMPLOYED AND OWE VTHE IRS AND HAVE NO WAY TO PAY SO PEOPLE BEWARE AND DONT EFILE OR SIGN ANYTHING THEN IF YOU GET AUDITED YOULL BE PROTECTED BY THE IRS more

I have been useing Heaths for 10yrs and now im being audited for 2009 after looking at my return there is alot of deductions i wasnt aware of and can not prove so now i have to pay 4900.00 I have tried to contact them but no response they know what they done and knew what could happen to tax payer but didnt care cause they are not being audited if i cant get in touch with them by end of the week (2-10-12) ill file complaints and contact a attorney to see if i have any options more

I have not ever had a bad experience at this location.. I have been getting my taxes done by heaths for the last few years and despite all of the bad reviews (most people won't leave a good review, but they will tell their friends about it) I learned of Heath's tax service from a co worker and have not ever had a bad experience, I actually owed money last year but that was no fault of Heath's tax service. I actually was not claiming enough tax money and was advised to change the amount I was claiming. If you would like a fair price for filing your income taxes, plus a family friendly atmosphere...GO HERE. I drive from Gainesville to Cartersville to get my taxes done by Heath's...enough said. i used this service in 2009 now in 2012 i have to pay back money. I trusted him (andy) and he really lied on my taxes putting down things i didnt tell him so therefore i have no proff of any of this he put down.I never looked at my paperwork cause i dont know anything about taxes if i did i would have did them myself. My husband hasnt worked since Sept 2009 due to a broke back we barely keep our head above water now i have to try and pay back 2400.00 dollars. But...... if i have to go down someone else will to im turning this in as a fradulant tax preparer dont know if it will do any good he may have already been caught not sure. more

Just because it says under new management doesn't matter. Mr. Alvin Hames is as much of a crook as the rest. He now co-owns the business because it kept Larry from losing it. He is in Larry's family. duh!!! They do not care who they hurt as long as they put money in their pocket. They are money driven demons. I have been audited every year since 2008 for mistakes that they "slipped" in that neither my husband or myself caught. We thought we could trust them and when we asked them to help they did NOTHING!! This year is the last year I will ever use them because again another AUDIT!! Try calling them and what do I get??? NO HELP FROM HEATH OR HAMES!!! They are only interested in your money nothing more!!!! more

AUDIT AUDIT AUDIT This is exactly what you will get for useing them. First of all when I went and had my taxes done there, Larrys wife told me "Everyone in here files taxes the same way as Larry does, so everyone here can get you back just as much as he can". I dont think 1 person was the cause of all these audits. It was eveyone. I know about 15 ppl that have been audited for 2009, including myself. The thing that gets me is them saying everything were doing is perfectly legal. They should atleast tell you its not where you can decide for yourself. Instead of desciding for you....Thanks for the audit...yeah rite!!!!!! more

After reading others reviews of Heaths - and now we share a similar story of typo errors and Heath's giving different stories and not making their mistakes right - it's time to take further action. Issued a BBB Dispute and contacted the GA Dept of Revenue - will pursue this matter further in court if the business continues to dodge us. more

The business is called Heath and Hames Income Tax owned solely by Alvin and Alicia Hames. Previously Heaths Income Tax in Cartersville owned by Larry Heath.. We have no other offices anywhere. Everyone in this office, including Larry Heath, has their own private individual Preparer Tax ID number aka PTIN issued by the Internal Revenue Service. All returns are prepared electronically and sent electronically. All returns are tracked back to that certain preparer so the IRS can keep current with errors or compliance and inform that preparer of what they need guidance with. There is no fraud in this office, every taxpayer is required by law to be able to provide proof if requested of every expense and warned not to claim items if they don't have them. No one in this office is going to permit any kind of unjustified expenses. Also, looking at some of these reviews, be sure when you say "Heath" or "Larry" did mine, that you know WHICH one did them. Heath was the last name, Andy let people think he was the owner and even let people believe he was Larry. When making accusations, please let them be about the right person. It's on your receipt. So in closing, the 5 star rating on our site is to run, don't walk to our office, so you can get the best tax refund at the lowest price from experienced, knowledgeable tax professionals that don't make you afraid to answer any question where you can feel relaxed at a stressful time every year. Many are still here, Larry Heath, Stacy Heath-White, Brian Heath, Alicia Hames, Connie Luense, Cathleen Wilson, Princess Baldwin, Angela Bramlett are the preparers and Kathy Heath, Annie Ruth and Alvin Hames are in the front in customer service and answering phones all day long. Peak hours and days are Monday-Saturday 7am-6pm, Please keep in mind, we try to leave the office at 6pm, we will not do walk-in tax returns after they have cut off the lines and preparers, but the office is open if you have a question. Most of our preparers are full time 11 hours a day. Please make your visit plans accordingly. As a single parent of two children on a strict budget. Like many other family every year I look forwarded to my tax return. I was referred to Larry Heath by my good friends that had used his service for many years. So after much thought... I decided to have Larry do my taxes (as I waited in his office). After all he had a large number of clients, he used to work for the IRS, he must know what he's doing... Prior to using Heath Income Tax I've always utilized professionals to do my taxes due to my lack of knowledge and to assure my taxes are done correct. In 2009 I received a letter from the IRS that I owe them $5000.00 due to incorrect tax information filed by Larry. I made several attempts to contact Larry (for advise) but he nor his staff never returned my calls. And for my friends and there familys in Jan. 2010 they were audited. They now owe thousands of dollars to the IRS. And as for Larry his day will come. Thanks be to God I only went to him once. more

First off, Larry is a terrible person! I dont think he has a good bone in his body. He is only out for himself and NOONE else not even his family. Everyone that prepares/prepared taxes at Heath Income Tax knows what they are doing and that its wrong, Larry even signed other peoples names to the return like he didnt do it and someone else in the office did. You guys can blame eachother all day and point fingers at one another but when it all comes down you guys will be sharing the same cell together!! Larry better enjoy all of his flashy new toys and his prostitutes while he can because where he is going he cant take them with him! I dont see how the man sleeps at night knowing that innocent people walk in that place just to have there taxes done not knowing what kind of a monster he truely is and he is costing them thousands of dollars in the long run...it is SICK and there is a special place in hell for trash like him!!! more

Larry is still doing tax at Heath and Hames income tax same location as last year, 278 Nelson st, They want everyone to know Larry sold the business, but still works there with some changes, Andy Heath and Craig Yancey doesn:t work there any more between the 2 of them they had over 300 people get auided for putting thing on retuns they should"t have durning this time Larry had no ideal they were doing it so but are gone.ence that time Andy changed his cell number due to high number of people complainning. If for some reason you get an audit they are the people you need to call we will be more happy to give you there number if you call us. more

Larry did our taxes for 4 years and we were audited for all years and he did not even return our call when we told him. They DO NOT stand behind their work at all. I tell people to run and run fast. Yes, he may get people more money back, but they will end up paying a LOT more in the long run when IRS gets a hold of them. We are now paying a car payment size payment for the next 5 years! Now we have to pay GA a lot of money because we were audited. Larry will tell you anything to keep you coming back. He even told us that he had worked with the IRS before, but we checked and he has never worked for them. more

I'm really not sure what these people do here. They got my tax stuff April 1st. They put the blame on someone else that use to work there. However we finally were able to catch someone there a month ago and they still had our stuff in a box un-touched and still blaming the other guy. We took our stuff and left and we will never be back. These guy's only works about two day's a week if your lucky and find out what day's that might be. You call and get a voice mail telling you what day's there open. Then when you get there you see a note on the door, that hours has been changed or they have some type family emergency, I ve seen that one at least twiced. I don't know if they can do taxes or not because in 7 months they never even looked at mine! more

I am having problems getting them to correct a mistake They made. I have been there 4 times in 6 months, to no avail. They don't 'stand' behind their work. Andy blows it off while cursing the IRS. In the meantime, I just found out I am being audited for their mistake and it is going to cost me dearly! I am sorry I went there and apologize to anyone I sent there. I just found out they are being investigated by the IRS, from the people I had to take my taxes to so I could get straightened out. She says if your refund sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. I trusted them to take care of business for me and that was a mistake I will pay dearly for. Since the first of the year, 3 people that I know that went there have been audited. more

Been using Larry Heath Service for over 15 yrs and they are great. Nice to come every year and say hello. I don't feel like a number with them. As there has been a problem with tax return due to Federal Gov't this is not your local tax person's fault. I trust them and will continue to go. A little understanding a patience can be used as many folks need money and are in a scare mode with the economy. Only issue is maybe hire more staff and better phone service. Thank you Larry.
