Happy Pet Tails/Grooming & Pet

I would rate this a minus star if given the option on this site. This place has really gone to the ""dogs"". I took my dog to this place for 6 years straight until new management/groomers came in and turned this into a jacked up mediocre, at best, grooming location. The last two times I brought in my dog, she LIMPED out with a bloody paw due to the inept groomer who cut her nails. During the first incident, I was kept waiting to schedule a grooming time while the manager/receptionist was talking slang, ghetto lingo with a friend who happened to stop by. I literally waited 8 minutes while he talked to his buddy about hoping to find a better job than working at Happy Pet Tails and if he knew of anything, let him know (you know what I’m sayin’ dawg…aight’ son). When he finally addressed me, he sighed and literally, rolled his eyes as if how dare I walk in there in the first place. I asked for grooming and he said I would have to wait an additional 10-15 minutes and I said fine at which point that seemed to bother him more. I waited because, I mean, what else do I have to do right (sarcasm). Upon hearing my dog scream, I walked into the grooming area to inquire what happened. The groomer tried to give me some half assed-wanna’ be veterinarian diagnosis which of course was lingo for, I screwed up and hurt your dog. When I spoke to the manager (some bald guy with glasses) he became hostile and belligerent when I told him that his groomer hurt my dog, and to add insult to injury, had the nerve to still charge me for hurting my dog...TWICE! I could not believe that this piece of crap guy was giving me attitude for his and his colleagues incompetence. When I asked for the manager I use to deal with, Manuel, he became even more abrupt and sarcastically said,” that guy doesn’t work here anymore”! Also, for some reason, their credit card machine is NEVER working and when you ask why, they will say all of a sudden, “oh, it’s working now however, you will be charged an additional $5 to use your credit card.” This place has become as ghetto a pet grooming place as I’ve ever seen one. I suppose they don’t realize that they are servicing a different demographic in Bayside than that of Jackson Heights or Corona (sorry to offend), not to mention, the folks they now have grooming and the ridiculous joke for a manager (Bald Guy w/Glasses) is an indication solidifying my review. Seriously, go elsewhere or your dog may end up with more than a bloody paw. In this current economic climate, small businesses such as this place should appreciate and understand that customer service should be prevalent in all they do to service their clientele. Needless to say, I take my dog elsewhere and in reading other posts on other sites about this place, it’s a wonder I took my pet there for as long as I did. more

I'VE BROUGHT MY BICHON HERE FOR GROOMING FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS. I WAS RECOMMENDED BY A FRIEND WHO HAS A MALTI-POO. SHE REFERRED ME TO CHRISTINE AND MY OLLIE CAME OUT LOOKING LIKE A SHOW DOG. WHEN I WALK HIM AFTER A GROOMING PEOPLE ARE IN AWE ON HOW HE LOOKS. I'M VERY OBSESSIVE OUT HOW I WANT IT CUT AND SHE FOLLOWS MY INSTRUCTIONS TO THE T - AND GOES OUT OF THE WAY TO MAKE SURE ME AND OLLIE ARE HAPPY. I HAVE RECOMMENDED HER TO EVERYONE I KNOW WHO ARE DOG OWNERS AND ADMIRE MY DOG AND THOSE SAME PEOPLE ARE TELLING ME HOW MUCH THEY LOVE HOW SHE GROOMS.\r \r CAN'T WAIT TO BRING HIM EVERY MONTH!\r \r THE PLACE IS ALSO VERY CLEAN AND STHE STAFF IS VERY NICE. I took my minaute yorkie there because I heard it's the best place for pet grooming in the area, so not true. The place is clean and yes the staff is very nice but the don't know what they are doing. My puppies hair was cut really uneven, in some places their scissors must have slipped because her hair was cut out almost to her skin, kind of looked like she got run over by a lawn mower. On top of that I was told that it would take no longer than 4 hours to groom her, when i want to pick her up she was ready and had to wait another hour. I will never go back there again. more

I dropped my dog off yesterday morning after making an appointment the previous day. We were the first ones in and were told that we could pick up our dog in 2 to 4 hours. We called 4 hours later and were told that we would have to wait 1.5 hours to pick him up. When we asked why it would take so long they told us to come in 15 minutes.\r When we got there we saw that they had completely chopped off most of my dog's beautiful fur when we SPECIFICALLY stated that we did not want to change the length, just a slight trim to clean up some spots (we'd been growing out his fur for months). Not only did they chop all his fur off but they did a poor job at it. It was insanely uneven as if it had been done in the dark. When I examined my pup more closely I noticed that he had a long cut on the skin covering his privates and he wasn't opening his right eye properly.\r \r Don't bring your dog here unless you want its beautiful fur butchered. Pros: Nothing. Cons: Careless, Took too long, Didn't follow instructions more

First two times there the service was okay, but the third time I leave my dog there at 12:30 in the afternoon and didn't get him back until 6:30 at night. The girl at the front desk told us it would take four hours, but after four hours no call. Called them up at 4, they said it will take another one and half hour. Asked why, they said it takes two to four hours to groom, when reminded that it was already that much time, the girl is like well today is Saturday so it can take longer. No call until 6:15, so drove to the shop anyway. Got there at 6:30, asked them to get our dog...they still hadn't finished grooming him and the place was going to close at 7pm. So our poor 7 month old puppy hasn't eaten since 12 in the afternoon and instead of an apology the manager points to a small sign behind the counter that says ""minimum 4 hours to groom"". Nice place huh....I'll take my business elsewhere. Cons: Bad customer service, took too long, and still didn't finish grooming more
